"Thank you My Lady" Nebless says to the Captain's retreating back.
After they are clear of the party Nebless turns to his compatriots
"That was Ryella, Captain of the White Temple Guard in Kendor, an elite body of soldiery answerable to the High Mother of the Temple herself."
Then he adds;
"If the Temple has despatched her out here it must be on a mission of importance... "
"I suggest we do as she says and turn to shank's mare and be on our way.

"Hiding like a beggar in a ditch. Haha. Those servants of the Goddess would require a lesson in humility!"

Banoc picks up his pack and looks around to make sure that he has not forgotten anything.
"Captain of the Guard eh? Most impressive. Yes, let's be on our way before the King of the Isles himself comes strolling down the road. Getting to Kendor before nightfall would suit me well."
"Nebless, remind me never to go hiding in the bushes again. That was a rather embarrassing affair."
Banoc pushes his way through the hedgerow and onto the road.
"Now where did Flick fly off to again?"

Nebless will follow Banoc and sling his pack and equipment on then step out and start the journey to Kendor.
"T'was't the hedges that did you in Banoc. You just seem to have a unique way with birds" Nebless says with a smile.
"As for you de Morsac, rather you have noble blood or were born on the wrong side of the sheets I know not. What I do know is they seem to breed 'em without brains in your part of the country." Nebless says with a sour look.

Finnegan glances at De Morsac, saying,"Big words for a little man." He then gathers his items, checking that they're all there. He then begins to walk along the road, whispering to himself that," There's a reason I chose the other path. Why they didn't listen, I'll never know. Foolish big folk, never listen to smart words. Always talk stupid words......" The rest is unintelligible, being whispered in the quietest of tones.

"Well, better a captain of the guard and her small army on the road than some rampaging monstrosity that has a hunger for hobbits in the wilds," Banoc says as he walks down the road with Finnegan. "Nontheless, it is a rather busy road, isn't it."
Banoc slaps Finnegan on the back and takes the lead for a while.

Nebless says with a sour look. "I'd rather die fighting to be free than to live groveling on the ground. You are a soldier, Nebless ale lover, and are used to following orders and drinking beer to feel better about it. And you, Finnegan, as a hobbit, are used to keeping a low profile to save your skin. I am not a city guard and I am not a hobbit. I am a Khamad noble and I damned chose to stay with you rather than going on the elves' quest because it wasn't safe enough for you, but there are limits."

"If being 'Noble' means charging a horde of foe's on your own just so songs can be sung of your glorious death, than I'll take groveling on the ground any day."
"Yes I am a soldier, I have stood in the ranks of King SteelBeard's Army and fought the foul goblins to a stand still. A victory that wouldn't have come about unless orders were followed."
"I drink, not because I am a soldier, but because I am but a city guard. Washed up on these unforgiven shores with nought but my skills. But know this, my time in this company has reminded me what it is to be a soldier."
"My time as a city guard is done, as I will inform my Captain upon my return ...... or atleast after I get my back pay." Nebless finishes with a grin.
"As far as the Elves' Quest goes, there is a difference between being brave and being foolhardy, though I doubt you know the difference. Add that to the fact they weren't telling the whole story should make anyone wonder and pause prior to rushing off on their quest."

"Bah, you think I was scared? I'll tell you, man, that some guardians of treasure are not of normal flesh. You sword would not harm them. I'd also rather be a hobbit and a caravan guard than a Khamad noble! At least we won't stab our families in the back for a better throne! Besides............at least I don't need a wizard to win my battles." I love this...........noble....he's carrying all the loot!

"Such bitterness..." mumbles Master Ho, seeing the armed company go away. Then he turns around and witnesses the flowery exchange between his companions, which he finds somewhat amusing. With a little smile, he delivers a small piece of wisdom: "Pride does not always give the best counsel, as it leaves you at the mercy of spirits. But spirits have other ways to insinuate themselves into your mind." These last mysterious words are pronounced while looking at Nebless and Finnegan.
Then the shaman hears the weak sounf of Banoc's inquiry about Flick. He turns around again and looks up for a while.

An oak tree alongside a hedge lining the main road to Kendor...Flick watches from his perch as the mounted knights draw up in formation around the wagon and move off towards Mirane, hooves splash in puddles as wagon wheels carve new runnels in the mud. The wagon driver slowly disappears from sight taking the conflicted faerie's conundrum with him. That is that then... Perhaps there is an enlightened wizard to be found in Kendor... Flick shudders at the memory of the men who wanted to pluck his wings. They can't all be that monstrous could they...?Flick shoves the thought back and leaps from his hiding spot. He catches the breaths and eddies of the breeze and follows a swooping, zig-zag path to the others. Their posture and hand gestures lead the small wizard to wonder if his companions are arguing. The thought is confirmed as he begins to hear snatches of their conversation on the wind. Flick slows his approach and hovers like a hummingbird briefly before alighting on Master Ho's shoulder. "Did you see the wizard on the wagon? He oozed all manner of energy. I wanted to ask him a question but I wasn't sure it would be at all safe. Perhaps you might have an answer to my question," the little faerie says to the tattooed master of magics.

"I did see the man in the wagon, little Flick, and I don't think much of him. He is one of those soulless wizards who think they can bend the forces of nature to their will without consequences." answers Master Ho, his eyes flashing. He does not say more but resentment can be felt in his voice.
