Professor, your bracelet is currently the property of Kazakarn, a very earnest and goodly knight of the realm, who happens to be a urok. ( in the other game he would be a LG paladin.... but Geronimo[player] has never played the other game and wouldn't know what a paladin is... he just naturally likes playing a purehearted character... so awesome!) This, right here, shows one of the great strengths of T & T. You don't need a Paladin type / class / specialist - you just play a Warrior, or Rogue, or Wizard, who behaves as such a pureheart would. The player(s) and the GM together bring the archetype into being as a unique person, not a pre-defined set of characteristics. Such a character will tend to be much more memorable than those where you're working on a narrow template. This is also why I want to see minimalist rules in Deluxe T & T. Too much codification tends to restrict the free play of imagination, in my experience. As I recall it, this was pretty much Ken's reasoning as to why he didn't include a big list of Talents in 7th edition - he didn't want to restrict anyone to just what he (or the folk at Trollhalla) could think of for Talents. Given some of the unusual Talents that people have come up with, it was a pretty good decision to just give a few examples and leave the rest up to the fevered imaginings of T & T fans.

I like the minimalist rules aesthetic too Mahrundl. In my last game session one of our wizards had a talent called "radical skepticism" and he actually got to use it...

talents in my game have included
"talking in circles" "smooth talking the ladies" and "art of gentle persuasion". I am convinced talents as awesome as those will never be codified into any rulebook.

Dungeon of the Rat isn't free, but it served as my daughter's second adventure and my nephew's intro to T&T, and I would strongly recommend it. I just noticed this adventure is currently on sale for "GM Day"— if anyone was waiting to pick it up, for $3 it's a steal! And it really is a great adventure.

Have to agree - I'm a big big fan of this module - it is actually one of my favourite modules of all time.

Likewise. A classic piece of work.
