For my T&T games, I take a really simple approach to monsters. I enjoy the classic monsters from myth and legend...along with the few oddballs. I notice many publications of T&T monsters have them well described...often needing 2-3 paragraphs to fully describe the creature and what it can do. Then you have the monsters in the actual rule books where they are simply an MR with a #Appearing.
I am somewhat in the middle here. I want an abundance of monsters to use, but I would rather describe them in a single sentence...or maybe two. Nothing too complicated and the information fits nicely in an adventure/module "stat block".
So that is what I assembled for myself...a listing of almost 500 monsters to use for T&T. These are simple enough to run in a game, yet have a bit of flavor to keep them from being just an MR value. You can get yourself a list HERE that you can...
- Get a list for either 5th or 7th edition
- Sort it by "name" or "level" of the monster
- Get a simple listing or a bigger listing by "terrain"...meaning you will get lists of those that dwell in the forest, dungeons, swamps, mountains, etc.
- Choose 6 different levels of difficulty (similar to what the rule book suggests) where you can have really weak goblins...or really tough goblins.
- Simply print it from a web page or export it to Excel.
...you can also go HERE and print one of the listings (each by "level of difficulty") in a more LETTER SIZE friendly format.
So if you don't mind monsters in this simplistic format, then feel free to download them and use them in your game.
