dT&T still not out? May 8, 2014 6:32:55 GMT -5

One thing I'm curious/concerned about: I see mentions here and there in the updates of portions of the rules being written, proofed, etc. I wonder...have the rules been playtested or are they springing whole-cloth in the here and now? That could be problematic (as was very much the case with 7/7.5 IMO despite 'con play' during it's rules development, as opposed to actual play).
I guess it's too hopeful to assume that folks would have their material actually completed before beginning a Kickstarter to have it published (and pay for art, etc.).
See that's what I have the problem with as well...NO where in the Kickstarter description or mission statement did it ever say, "hey we estimate it will be two years in the making for the rules, we have some new features that we would like to add which have come as suggestions from long time players and we'll need time to hammer those out..."
the language sort of indicated that "with just a little money from you all we can zip out this updated edition of the rules, which will be more like the popular 4th/5th editions and BA DA BING, it'll be ready in no time!"
but then I was a bit alarmed that they were going to try to have it by that Gen Con which would only have been about 6th months, then there was the little crazy deadline of Origins which would have been that June!!!
And that was after all the extra goodies where piled on!
This was my first Kickstarter yes...it will also be my last...EVER!
I keep seeing people say similar things about expectations of the kickstarter
okay so maybe I was a little naive but honestly I expected that if there was a delay it would be on things like the wooden boxes or the special portrait extra or any of the other ancillary things...
I laid down the money because I expected the rules to be out a little sooner.
maybe that WAS naive...
But for Pete's sake it's just T&T, really it's been around for 30+ years, the rules are largely written!
Do a new layout and maybe new art...
It doesn't need to be that hard.
But Mach, I believe this edition will NOT be the best ever, I think that we will get "whole-cloth in the here and now" and it won't matter if they "play-tested" for only 2 sessions or three years anyway because in the end dT&T will not have been tested to the extent of 4/5th anyway.
But one thing is for sure, they will have certainly missed a large part of the "Retro-old school Role-playing" boat by the time this is actually in print!
