MSPE referees will know that Dave Arneson wrote a solo adventure for the game, Mugshots 1: The Case of the Pacific Clipper, which had a short section at the back to allow its use as a GM scenario. Rather less well known is an article Arneson wrote for Different Worlds magazine for adapting Mike Stackpole's The Adventure of the Jade Jaguar solo in the same way.
It's in Different Worlds issue 46, May/June 1987, and runs to four pages. Disappointingly, there is no text offering advice on how to go about running it or possible pitfalls that might be encountered. However, you do get stats for the rebels, natives, expedition members etc and some excellent maps, including one occupying a page and a half. These are by Helen Doward, very clear and certainly usable in other adventures. Effectively you're getting the extra tools for making a GM scenario out of Jaguar, but the rest is up to you.
The centre pull-out section of the magazine, which you'll need to remove to see the main Jaguar map, consists of an eight page James Bond 007 adventure, easily converted to MSPE.
You can find old copies of Different Worlds (and, indeed, still buy new, old stock copies) fairly easily online and prices tend to be reasonable. Not everyone will want to buy the mag purely for the few maps and stats in the MSPE article, of course, although I'm happy that I did so.
Do we have a thread listing MSPE magazine articles anywhere? I couldn't find one.
