Hardbacks will be some time yet. At least a few weeks after the softcovers are available, last I heard. I've heard nothing at all about pre-orders, but I would suggest that the place where you can almost certainly get a hardback when they are available is via Flying Buffalo. Contacting Rick is likely to be your best move.
This is why I use a laser printer. Also, I suggest you to be selective in what you print. The color section is nice to look at on screen, but not worth the ink for printing. I skipped the Trollworld stuff altogether, as well as the GM adventures. Of course, you can also skip the house adds in the back, too.
Why, there are a full three pages (Two and a half, sir) a full two and a half pages on monsters opponents. MR is completely explained. The fact that there are no monster lists is completely done for reasons, I'm sure.

There are some monsters in the Trollworld descriptions. And I did find some MR ratings and encounter tables. But I want more monsters. Steve Crompton is having his minions scour FBI T&T products for interesting monsters to expand the list.

It IS huge. Idk how much of it I'm gonna wind up using - I think they made a mistake leaving "That's a Natty Beard" out, and moving certain spells up by a level (or more) rather than just inventing new ones - but the descriptions of the Illkin alone make it worth what I paid - plus, at least they made a day's rations an item again - That business of carting around cabbages and apples may've appealed to realists - but this is FANTASY role-playing.

Magic has always been a difficult thing. That's a Natty Beard was deemed to much like a spell in Goblet of Fire, although it predates the movie by decades and was a fun spell. Luckily for me I have two copies of 5.5, as wellas 7, 7.5 and the Delver's Pack so I can easilly add back in what was left out.
There are pieces of it I am pretty sure I won't use, but the Illkin descriptions are very nice to have. I also like the inclusion of the "Improbable Sword" for those over the top anime styled weapons.
smokestackjones, given that there are 1600 backers, they've sent stuff to around 600, they send an e-mail to you when they are processing your shipment, and there are only 2 people doing the shipping (in addition to anything else that they have to deal with, like collecting more copies of the books from the printers), I'd say that waiting another couple of weeks is not unreasonable. Rick has been pretty good at status updates recently, so there will probably be at least one more status update in that time.
I'm not worried either, bigjackbrass. Just a little bit sad that I don't have a physical copy yet. I might have to print up a copy from the PDF too...
