Hey folks, I'm new to the game and it seems fun. I thought I'd get my feet wet with some of the solo adventures freely available online, but they proved too brutal. Then I realized, I'm working from 4th edition, and apparently weapon damage and armor values changed considerably since 5e.
Is there a quick and comprehensive method for converting encounters on the fly to be more compatible with the old versions?

Later printings of some solos feature a note from Liz Danforth suggesting adding 10 points to Monster Ratings to make the adventures sufficiently challenging under fifth edition rules, so reversing that would be a start.
I don't have my fourth edition rules to hand so I can't check the weapon ratings, but I think that all weapons were boosted to at least 2 dice in fifth, so that being unarmed was the only 1 dice situation. Daggers do at least 2 dice, typical swords do 3 dice or more, leather armour takes 6 hits. Hopefully that will give you a starting point: I'll look at my rules when I get home.
