Call this guy a swine and he'll probably take it as a complement - or he'll take your head off like his companion-in-arms in the background. Could this be a new order of knighthood, the Order of the Razorback? Do they simply patrol and protect their borders or do they lead raids into enemy territory? How did this battle come to be? Did the human Marcher Lord offend the neighboring orc tribes by serving their emissary bacon and eggs for breakfast? Did the orc tribes decide they'd had enough of human encroachment and pushed back? Are these orcs part of an orc army or could they simply be a band of marauders? Sir SamIAm called up the local human militia to rout the rampaging pigs and suddenly realized he'd bit off more than he could chew.

Ok, folks, instead of a single image this time, I have a short CGI video for you called Broken: Rock, Paper, Scissors. As I watched this I could only wonder at how such a story could be a myth for a game and interweave itself throughout the whole fictional society. I could go on but I think you'll understand once you watch.

Whose ship is this? Is it a private vessel or part of a kingdom's navy? Is it used simply for support or research, like the ice breakers of the mundane realm, or is it a juggernaut meant to insure peace through superior firepower? What powers such a vehicle? Is there a shard of a rare crystal, a demon bound in a soul-jar or some mad scientists labyrinthine klankerton tapping into the aether? Why the cannons? What creatures could possibly live in such an environment much less threaten a ship such as this? What material is the hull made from and can this material also be used for the occupants armor or shields? Whose castle is that in the background? Is it the shipyard where this vessel was christened, the outpost guarding the harbor, an ally's castle or an enemies stronghold? If you like this image, I'd encourage you to take a look at the rest of the artist's gallery. There are some really neat and unique vehicles in there.

Naked Doom Part Deux! The local M.A.D.D. (Monsters Against Dangerous Delvers) chapter has finally caught on after watching a few too many TSA training videos on TTYFTube. It's certainly a way to give monster-kind a fighting chance (Hey, Monster Lives Matter!). Extra XP to the delver who manages to smuggle in a concealed weapon.* I think perhaps Strangblood characters might have a leg up here. What does M.A.D.D. do against wizards and rogues, though? * I'm reminded of a quote from one of Jennifer Roberson's books in the Tiger and Del series: "Del was the only person I knew who could be completely naked and still manage to draw a concealed dagger." I beg your indulgence if I've bastardized the quote though I've kept to the spirit. Hey, it's been close to 30 years, whaadya want?

So, I'm guessing that Del has a large, bushy beard, then?

Mahrundl, that would have been a significantly different story....

Hoo, Piggy! Best clear the way when this guy comes thundering through town! Where does he come from? Is he a lone rider or an advance scout for a band of mercs? Just what is that green glow? Was he always like this or was he the unwitting victim of a gamma-ray wand misfiring? Or, worse yet, perhaps he was a willing participant and quaffed an untested alchemical brew. Well, I guess there always has to be someone to try it first. What kind of potion is attached to that blunderbuss and does it expel in cloud or stream? Is it the same sickly substance as in the grenades? And what, exactly, happened to that poor boar? Was it exposure to the potion in the blunderbuss and grenades that caused him the 'shroom growths on his tusks, exposure to his potentially radioactive rider, or something else entirely? Perhaps the swine rooted up some of the troll 'shrrrooms left behind by Sir Dahhn Keehootee... Now there's a frightening thought, radioactive Troll 'Shrrrooms... :: Shudder :: Steampunky, marauding goblin! Love it! Inspired by Spider-Man's villain, the Green Goblin maybe a tad?

Ok, folks, I've a combo post for you. I've been holding onto these images waiting for a moment when I have enough bandwidth to facilitate the Cranial Processing Unit. Since I'm not quite sure when that's actually going to happen I'm going to pass these along now before I lose them. Where is this port? Do the airships have an advantage over their waterborne cousins or are they perhaps one-and-the-same? What happened to the ships which were converted into dwellings? Was it by choice, storm, perhaps a kraken trying out for left field? Who are the figures in the foreground - delvers, merchants, sailors, fishermen or just folks who happen to call this place home? What kind of trade happens here? Is it only a safe harbor from a storm or are there overland routes to this town? How much further inland is this? Is an airship required to get here or are there secret waterways known only to a select few of captains? What's the citadel for and who lives there? Who is the lone traveler, what kind of sword are they carrying and check out that accompanying creature! Is it a mount, companion or a form of sentient life we've not yet made first contact with? Here's a video to tell the story of one of the myths found in the land shown above. Who are the stalwart defenders and and why has this giant creature attacked? Is the gem something to be coveted for it's connection to or enhancement of Wiz? Perhaps it's an egg that was mistaken for a gem and the creature wants it's young back. How far back does this story go? How much truth is there? Is it metaphorical allegory or are the events related true?

Here's a new pair of images for you. They both depict the same subject but the first is in the spring time, the second in the autumn. So what happened here? Did a dam burst up in the mountains flooding a village? Are the villagers still there mutated into aquatic versions of themselves or is the truth more spooky and it's their ghosts which haunt the sunken village unable to accept their sudden fate and let go? Perhaps someone in the village - maybe the whole village - offended one of the gods who smote the township down? Is that the temple's bell tower left as a lone finger warning against such impropriety or did the bards who spread the tale get it wrong? That might not be a temple bell tower but rather a wizards tower with an observation platform. Maybe it wasn't a raging god which struck down the dam flooding the town but actually a wizard playing with the very fundamental, elemental building blocks of life. Did an experiment get away from the wizard? Did a rival sabotage his work? Perhaps an apprentice neglected their duty or was to enthusiastic in their desire to help and learn. Maybe it was a combination of all of the above, maybe none of it's true. The fact remains, a tower rises from below the surface of the lake and marks a mystery to be unraveled. What will our delvers find below?

I have a sunken temple in the campaign world that I was working on, back when I had more time for such things. There are a number of reasons why PCs may want to investigate it, and they are not all benign...

Fabulous images Prof, very evocative. I'm sure our great mate Boozer had a GM adventure for free download on his now defunct Hobgoblin's Tavern site with a tower in a lake. Yes, I just found it, called sensibly enough The Tower in the Lake but that tower had collapsed into the water so the delvers had to explore underwater.

The legendary tower of the Lake Dwarves! I thought it was just an old bard's tale.

Who is she? Who or, better yet, what is her companion? Is she a princess looking for her prince? Was she convinced that if she kissed enough frogs she could turn one into a prince? Why did the change only partially happen? Was it an effect from something she carries in her bandoleer? Was she trained as an alchemist? The church in the background, is that her base of operations, a likely space for impending nuptials or simply the most recent site of an investigation? Perhaps, as this image suggests, our Dame is more of a hunter than a princess. Having friends in low places can certainly have its advantages.

How did this come to be?. Did a nature priest get stuck shape shifted? Is this a Curse You gone rogue? Perhaps some wizard's idea of a wandering trap? Who are the other deceased warriors being resurrected? Is this a ward for a wizard's demesne? Maybe some elf's idea of a self-sustaining defense of their lands?
