Dwarf World is entirely subterranean. There is no surface world at all, everything is buried inside rock. Over the centuries the dwarves have carved tunnels and exposed caverns, rivers, lakes, and goblins. There have been other races who entered Dwarf and over a hundred thousand years ago Lord Raul, a Dwarven Lord, began enslaving Elves, Humans, and Halflings, other Lords followed suit and eventually all Dwarven Lords were engaged in capturing and enslaving these kin. Then ten years ago King Buckles and the Blue Sapphire Dwarves were brought from Troll World to Dwarf World by Gembeard, the Dwarven God/Creator. The Highest Priestess and her servants revealed the Will of Gembeard and King Buckles was crowned King of Dwarf World. The other Dwarf Lords were slow to acknowledge the legitimacy of the King, and some, like Lord Raul were in open defiance of His Highness. Lord Raul was recently removed from the throne and his brother Saul is now the Lord of Raul City. The Out-Worlders, Pigswill, Rufus Schnobtooger, Olga Wulfsdotter, Rusty Rivet, Thgar Caskbrewer, and Mensa the True KHZN revealed a plot by Lord Raul to assassinate the King and assisted Lord Saul in arresting the traitor. Pigswill, Gilfillan, Thgar Caskbrewer, and Yimhud the Giant Killer freed a Goblin City being looted by Rock Fiends.
Garga is hanging out at the Mithril Shield Inn in the Dwarven City of Dundormor in Dwarf World. He has heard that Pigswill, Gilfillan, Thgar Caskbrewer, and Yimhud the Giant Killer are headed to Dundormor and he hopes to meet them and join up for Fame, Glory, and Fortune
Brevail is relaxing in his room at the Stagger Inn in Khazan. There is a flash of bright light and he sees a six foot tall Dwarven women in white robes with a Mithril Tiara, many gems are braided into her beard. She is holding a Mithril Staff with a large diamond at the top. She bows and says
"Brevail the Mage, I am Priestess Ruby of the Dwarven God Gembeard, I have a mission for you; Gembeard seeks your assistance in correcting the social order in Dwarf World. You have been chosen to help free the Elves of Dwarf World from slavery. You will have companions in this quest, you will meet them in the Dwarven City of Dundormor at the Mithril Shield Inn. There you will meet Prince Ribit Lox and other trustworthy, valiant, and honorable adventurers to assist you on your quest. The guard at the Gate of the City will ask where your master is, tell him you are meeting Master Pigswill at the Mithril Shield Inn. The guard will give you directions. Enter the Inn through the back door. Once in the inn stand near the back door and look at the floor. You will hear Master Pigswill talking to Prince Ribit."
She touches you with her staff and you find yourself in a stone tunnel. The blue moss that grows on the walls and ceiling, is creating a soft light, sixty yards ahead of you is a Mithril Gate, it is open and you see a city, the streets are paved with gold and the buildings are made of silver. You approach the gate.
Brevail, having surviving through luck and wits for most of his short elven life, is awed by this turn of events. He looks around the tunnel, tries to determine if the moss is poisonous/dangerous based on his limited knowledge of subterranean plant life. Assuming it is not, he attempts to scrape some of the unusual moss off the walls to see how long it retains its phosphorescence. After testing that theory out for a few minutes to see if he has found a new and interesting light source, he moves towards the gate and observes through it for a five minutes, noting if he can see people moving around and observe the world on the
other side. Once he is satisfied the gate is real and does not immediately drop him
into some sort of highly dangerous situation, he jumps through the gate. The Guard yells, “Halt slave.” Brevail turns to the Guard and says, “My Master Pigswill told me to meet him at the Mithril Shield Inn, in Dundormor, is this Dundormor, I have never been here before.”
The Guard's manner changes at the mention of who is the master of this slave. He says, "Master Pigswill arrived here this morning, he is staying at the Mithril Shield Inn. You should follow this street and turn left at the third intersection, you will find it on the right three shops down. Brevail follows the Guards directions to reach the Mithril Shield Inn. He goes to the back of the building and enters the door. He stands against the wall by the door. He sees other elves, humans, and hobbits standing against the wall. They are dressed in rags and some bear the scars of beatings and lashings; none are armed or as finely dressed as he. As he stands against the wall he thinks, “I am a young wizard, fresh from the Academy, I must be quiet.” He cautiously observes those around him. He can tell, as an armed elf wearing fine mail, he is very out of place in this land.
Pigswill sets his empty stein on the table. He and his comrades are resting at the Mithril Shield Inn in the Dwarven City of Dundormor after the Rescue of the Goblins from Rock Fiends in the Goblin City on Eel Stream. Thgar sees a young male Slef approach their table. The Slef stands about five feet tall on very long legs. He has a very salamander appearance but for the fact he walks upright on those very long legs. He has a broad axe and a sax dagger in a harness across his chest and a short sword at his waist. A Dwarven Spiked Shield is strapped to his back over a long spear. He is wearing Mithril Ring Mail. He bows until his face touches the floor and as he rises he says in a Royal Tone, “I am Prince Ribit Lox, heir to the throne of King Ribit Meara. I have heard songs sung about the might and honor of the Off World Dwarves, Thgar Caskbrewer, Eel Eater Pigswill, Yimhud Giantkiller, and Ranger Gilfillan. How they have been, in the name of King Buckles, freeing slaves, saving Goblin City by Eel River from Rock Fiends, and bringing peace to the varied speaking beings of Dwarf World. It is an honor to be in your presence. I have journeyed through many tunnels, faced many dangers and lost three of my Royal Guards just to speak with you and seek your aid. My father’s Kingdom is being ravaged by Smudgebrow Orc raiders. These foul beasts carry off our citizens for food, dig up our dead for their religious rights, and foul our river and lake with their filth. We are losing this war and so I seek your aid. Will you fight by our side against these orcs?
Pigswill rises from his chair and says, “Pigswill at your service, Your Highness.” He roars his approval of a new quest, a fresh cause, "Let the uruks tremble!" he cries, slamming his fist down on a pig's head he carries with him for such purposes ('Oinky' does look a little 'flat'.)
Yimhud Giantkiller bangs his stein on the table and shouts, “I, Yimhud Giantkiller will go also. Aye! Smash the uruks!” Yimhud roars and gulps his ale.
Thgar Caskbrewer shouts, “Thgar Kill Orc, Kill Orc.”
Gilfillan says with a low bow, “I’ Gilfillan, will join Your Royal Highness on this worthy quest.”
A Dwarf on the other side of the room stands, bows, and says, “If your Highness will allow, I, Garga, Gristlegrim Dwarf of Dwarf World, will fight by your side. Garga nods grimly at the assembled band of adventurers. "We have dealt with uruks in my clan's caverns before. They must be met with strong resistance. I pledge my hammer to this company!" He then downs his mug of ale.
Brevail thinks that to win favor with the Dwarves he should assist the Self and this is a good start to his adventures outside Troll World. Brevail speaks softly, “If Master Pigswill will allow his humble servant, Brevail, a Mage of Troll World, sent to serve Master Pigswill by the Priestess Ruby of Gembeard; I shall do all in my power to aid and comfort Your Highness.”
Pigswill greets the newcomers enthusiastically and makes sure their glasses are filled.
The Prince says, “Thank you all for agreeing to help us. Let us leave, how soon can you be ready to travel? We have many tunnels to follow before we reach my home. I worry for my father’s safety. The last attack was vicious and the orcs breached the gates and fought inside the city. Many citizens, including children were carried off. My father was wounded and the Captains fear a fifth attack. They are working on repairing the gates and hope to have them finished before the orcs return.”
Thgar Caskbrewer says, “We only need to pay the inn for our dinners and ale and we will be ready to leave.” He drops a small bag of cons on the table, picks up his Dwarven War Axe and follows the Prince into the street.
The Prince leads you out of the city, and shortly after leaving the city you come to a side tunnel leading north. There are fifteen goblins at the intersection, the Goblin Commander bows and says, "Pigswill, well met, we come from the Goblin City at the command of the Goblin King. He had a dream in which you asked for archers to come to Dundormor to assist you. We are at your service."
Pigswill grins and offers the leader pork scratchings.
"Archers, eh? Let me see how good you are, if you please. Choose your best man and see if he can hit this trotter I will throw in the air. Then my friend, Gilfillan, we shoot to split the trotter in two if still whole or to hit the smaller piece if it is broken." The Goblin Commander notches an arrow in his bow and says, “Ready” Pigswill tosses the trotter into the air.
The goblin fires and places an arrow in the center of the trotter.
“Easy as shooting ducks in a pen.” says the Goblin Commander.
Garga looks around suspiciously. "We’re…working with the goblins?"
Brevail glances at Garga, shrugs, and watches the archery. The elf
wizard is still trying to rationalize the slavery he witnessed in the
Dwarf city and wondering what Priestess Ruby has really conned him into
doing. Working with Goblins is not outside his comfort zone with
everything else he has witnessed recently.
Gilfillan grumbles at Pigswill's boast, narrows his eyes, draws a bead and fires....
Gilfillan hits the edge of the trotter and his arrow splits the trotter into two halves.
The Goblins cheer for their Commander’s shot and for Gilfillan’s shot.
The Goblins show great respect to the Prince and swear to defend him to their death. They explain to the Prince how King Buckles is working to end the slavery of all non-dwarves and the establishment of the treaty between the Goblins and Dwarves. How the goblins have prospered since the peace. The Prince tells the goblins about Pigswill and the dwarves rescued The Eel River Goblins from the Rock Fiends with the help of Rock Trolls. The Prince tells of the willingness of the Dwarves and the Elf to join in fighting the Smudgebrow Orcs. At the mention of the Smudgebrow Orcs the Goblins begin chanting, "Death to the Uruks, eaters of goblin flesh, killers of Goblin children, Kill Uruks."
Suddenly, the sound of heavy footfalls echo in the tunnel. The sound is coming from ahead of them. The goblins form a shield wall and notch arrows into their bows. The sound is getting louder and then just out of bow range the Dwarves see 4 Komodo Dragons blocking the tunnel. A Slef dismounts and shouts, "We mean no one harm, we ride in haste to Dundormor to find our Prince, let us pass."
The Prince replies, "Klum, you have found your Prince, what drives you so far from our homes?"
The Slef Klum drops to both knees and places his forehead on the stone floor of the tunnel.
The Prince says, "Rise and come to me. Is that Cam Mu holding the reigns of your steeds?"
"It is I Lord Prince, your faithful Cam Mu."
Without hesitation Klum rises and approaches the Prince. "My Prince, I come with sadness and bad news. Your father has succumbed to his wounds. I am sent as the bearer of this news. I have brought three extra steeds but I see that will not be enough to carry all who march with you.”
The Prince replies, “There is need of haste but you must now return to our home, tell the Captains that my quest is a success and great warriors will join us in the war. Take the extra steeds. We will reach our home in three days march. Cam Mu will stay with me. Now ride like a great wave before the wind and fail me not, the Captains will need to know that I return with much sorrow but also with a great hope for victory."
A green skinned Troll walks up to the Prince and they embrace. “It is good to have you at my side once more, Cam Mu. Come meet my companions.”
“I worried about you and the absence of your guards show I was right to request to accompany you on this quest. The foul Uruks have not returned, I was needed here with you.”
“Many were the times I wished I had listened to your council, but we will avenge the loss of my three guards. Come we must move quickly. Our scent has remained in one place to long, there are many hungry beasts in these tunnels.”
As the Prince leads them north, he stops and smells the air and says, “I smell fresh blood, arm yourselves. The Prince takes his shield and boar spear from his back and begins to move slowly forward. Cam Mu moves forward quickly, his large club at the ready. The Goblins notch arrows into their bows and form a tight V in front of the Prince. Soon Cam Mu returns, “There is a curve to the left ahead. A night strider has been slain and the head of one steed is there also. A trail of blood leads farther down the tunnel to the west. I could hear the sounds of beasts growling and bones breaking. I fear Klum may have been attacked.”
The Prince quickens the march and they quickly reach the dead night strider, a dark skinned beast with long arms and legs in per portion to its body. The beast appears to travel on all four limbs and would only stand 1 foot tall. A throwing axe is imbedded in its skull. The Prince pulls the axe from its skull and says, “I will return this to Klum. Remain ready, these beasts are fast and we can still hear them feasting ahead.”
Moving quietly and at a steady pace they soon can see a pack of the beasts devouring a Komodo Dragon. The beasts are unaware of their approach. The Prince extends his right hand and speaks a word none have heard before. A ball of fire flies down the tunnel and explodes when it reaches the pack of night striders. The smell of burnt flesh fills the tunnel and as the smoke clears no living night strider can be seen.
The Prince leads them farther west at a quick pace. Cam Mu again hurries forward. The battle cry of a Troll echoes through the tunnel. The Prince begins to run, the Dwarves and Goblins are left far behind. When they finally catch up with the Prince, he and Cam Mu are standing at an intersection going south, fighting Dragonlings, three dead headless Dragonlings are on the floor of the tunnel, three more are engaged with the Prince and Cam Mu, before you can join the battle, Cam Mu kills two Dragonlings by knocking their head from their shoulders. The Prince slays the last one with a beam of bright light that cuts through the Dragonling like a hot knife through lard.
Pigswill turns to the others and says, "They are very efficient. Perhaps we are just hear to witness their prowess and report it throughout the Trollworld."
Brevail shrugs at Pigswill and responds, "Perhaps the stream of minor annoyances before us is intended lull us into a false sense of security before whatever is driving these Dragonlings springs a deadlier ambush. Although my frail elven constitution prefers the current state of 'not
being in danger' to remain that way for as long as possible."
The Prince turns and says, “We have been handling these minor annoyances, as you call them because we do not want to risk your lives when the reason you were asked to join us is to handle the hordes of Orcs that we will face. But if you would like to take the risk, then just ahead is a tunnel that you may explore while we wait for the two of you to return.”
Brevail bows. "Prince, time is if the essence and I can only appreciate the efficacy of your combat skills. We should not tarry here, and should not split our forces to engage in side pursuits while the Uruks threaten so many. Please lead on, yet I ask that you not sprint so far ahead, lest a more dangerous ambush unfold that finds us separated." The elf bows again. "I apologize if my outlander words in some way offended you, as I intended them to be a combination of warning and praise."
Well said, sorcerer! Perhaps we can come back to take a look at your tunnel once we have dispatched these orcs, Prince. Whatever's in there should keep!" says Pigswill.
The Prince responds, “No offense was taken, but we will split the party at the next tunnel. My six companions from the Inn will come with me. I know what lies at the end of this tunnel. An old Dwarf named Lome and I hope she has found the Captain of the Blue Sapphire Dwarves and his patrol, who were promised me by King Buckles. You have met them before Pigswill, Captain Tul Dar, Sgt. Crue, and eight Rangers. Cam Mu and the Goblins will guard the entrance and if attacked will fight a withdrawal down the tunnel to where we are.
They reach the tunnel to Lomé’s cavern without any additional encounters. The Prince says, “Pigswill, Gilfillan, Thgar, Yimhud, Brevail, and Garga come with me. Cam Mu and the Goblins stay here. We will return shortly.
The follow the tunnel to a large cavern, many different plants grow in this cavern and at its center is a stone house, with a Mithril door. The Prince blows a powder from his hand and bells ring three different tones. The door opens and a dwarf in Mithril Ring Mail, holding a Dwarven Spiked Shield and a Mithril Staff. “Welcome, Prince Ribit Lox, you are early, the Blue Sapphire Patrol arrived yesterday and they are eating me out of house and barn. We are ready to leave.”
The Prince says, “This is… When Lome interrupts him, “Yes, I know who they are, I have been following your progress. Come Captain we are leaving.” Ten dwarves exit the house and Lome turns around and waves towards the house and it disappears.
They quickly rejoin the rest of the party. They continue west and come to a small cavern. As they walk through the cavern stones begin falling from the ceiling and walls. They are soon surrounded by stones that start to move toward them. Cam Mu yells, “They are Glotches, rocks that walk. Blunt weapons and magic weapons only all others are useless. Goblins in the center, your weapons will not protect you, Foul Curse of Zweetz.” The trolls club smashes the closest one and it shatters, gold and silver coins fly from the beast.
Garga charges forward with his war-hammer, trying to tactically dodge around the rock creatures so that they're off guard, and striking at any exposed or likely spots. "Fight on, comrades!"
Cam Mu yells, "Hit them hard on their shells, Garga watch out; they will try to make you fall."
The Prince casts a beam of light that strikes a Glotche, shattering the beast and spreading gold and copper coins.
Lome casts a beam of light that strikes a Glotche, shattering the beast and spreading silver and iron coins.
Captain Tul Dar casts a beam of light that strikes a Glotche, shattering the beast and spreading silver and copper coins.
Sgt. Crue throws a stone with his staff-sling, it penetrates the shell and the Glotche stops moving.
The Dwarven Rangers throw stones at the Glotches hitting eight of them and only wounding the Glotches.
Garga hits a Glotche and wounds it, the Glotche knocks Garga off his feet and begins to craw on top of Garga. Cam Mu swings his club and knocks the Glotche off Garga and grabs Garga's arm and pulls him back into the group.
The Glotches are moving in towards the party. More are falling from the ceiling. The Prince shouts, “They are giving birth while they attack us. Kill them quickly before they over-run us! Dwarves, why are you not fighting?
Brevail's spell wounds the glotche.
The Prince casts a beam of light that strikes a Glotche, shattering the beast and spreading silver and copper coins.
Lome casts a beam of light that strikes a Glotche, shattering the beast and spreading silver and gold coins.
Captain Tul Dar casts a beam of light that strikes a Glotche, shattering the beast and spreading copper coins.
Sgt. Crue throws a stone with his staff-sling, it penetrates the shell and the Glotche stops moving.
The Dwarven Rangers throw stones at the wounded Glotches hitting eight of them killing them
Yimhud and Thgar attack Glotches and smash two glotches, gold and copper coins scatter across the floor. Other Glotches bump into them but are unable to knock the two dwarves over. They swing at the glotches at their feet killing them.
Pigswill and Gilfillan charge the Glotches and manage to kill four more. The tide is turning and there are only 16 glotches left alive.
Thgar & Yimhud and slay two more.
Pigswill and Gilfillan see three turn and climb the wall.
Brevail looks at the scattered coins. "I am not from this area, but I find it amazing these creatures have not been hunted to extinction. I imagine some dedicated over harvesting would be common in any populated area."
He addresses the Prince, "Sire, is there anything dangerous or unusual about these coins? Are they poisoned? Do they convert to sandstone within a few days? Are the coins all from hapless people the Glotches have consumed, and precious metal is indigestible to them?"
The Prince replies, "I need to rest after casting all those spells, as do the other mages with us. We are fortunate that no one was seriously injured. The rocks that move secrete a fluid that dissolves flesh very quickly, they then consume all the bones of their victims. The coins are consumed but the rocks that move cannot digest them. They are just stored in their bodies. They are not poisonous. The reproduce rapidly. The few that escaped with heal quickly and begin reproducing on the morrow. Their only weakness is if they do not feed within a week of reproducing they will die. Yes, the coins are from their victims.
"I had always assumed that these "Glotches" were one of the ways we had minted the coins in the first place" Garga suggests with a shrug.
After a short rest the party continues on its journey to Slef City.
After turning south, the party meets a pack of Otgans, they bow to the Prince and one begins speaking in what sounds like barks, hisses, and croaks. The Prince response in much the same manner and the Otgans turn and go down a tunnel leading to the West. The Prince then says, “The Otgans report that the Smudgebrow Orcs have gathered over five hundred warriors. They have been digging a tunnel that will open on the tunnel we have just left very near where we are now. It should take approximately two days for them to finish it. It seems the will attempt to attack on two fronts, we must hurry.”
Lome says, “Two days before Captain Tul Dar and his patrol arrived, I heard the sounds of metal hitting rocks west of my home. After the patrol arrived I did not hear it again.”
After moving south for a couple hours the party comes to a second tunnel running west, it is guarded by a Platoon of Bronze Legionnaires. The Commander greets the Prince and reports, “We captured a Smudgebrow Orc who was mapping this tunnel. He died during our interrogation and revealed nothing.”
The Prince replies, “The Otgans have discovered the Orcs are digging a tunnel that will intersect with the main east/west tunnel and expect them to attack down this tunnel within two days. Hold as long as you can.”
“We will hold to the last man, Your Highness.” Replies the Commander.
The Party continues south, when they encounter a dust bunny, it hops down a tunnel leading east leaving a cloud of dust. The goblins begin coughing and sneezing.
The tunnel ends in at a large lake, in the center of the lake is a city, it is surrounded by a twenty foot high wall of Coma Berry Vines. Directly across from the tunnel are open gates also of Coma Berry Vines. A large raft is being poled across the lake towards the tunnel opening by Rock Trolls. The raft docks and the party board the raft. The Rock Trolls move the raft back to the city. The Prince warns the new comers, “Beware the thorns on the Coma Berry Vines, they are very sharp and painful. They also cause a deep sleep from which many to not awake.
The population shouts and cheer the arrival of their Prince. They also welcome and cheer for the warriors that have joined with their Prince to protect them. On the inside of the wall of Coma Berry Vines a platform surrounds the city. Many Slef, Trolls, Bronze Legionnaires are standing watch. Just back from the walls are catapults with piles of large stones and also large bags of oil. The catapults are so large that only a troll could turn the winch to thingy the catapult and load the stones or bags into it. Pigswill marvels at the catapults and then wonders aloud if they might be able to dig - as dwarves do - a tunnel to intercept the orcs and to take them by surprise, perhaps unleashing a flood on them or poison gas.
Gilfillan looks doubtful and asks him how many dwarves he thinks he would need but Pigswill reckons he could train pigs to augment however many dwarves there are here ready to take up pick axe and shovel.
After two days’ rest, the Dwarves awake to the ringing of the alarm bells. Rock Troll close the gates and carry a tall platform and set it behind the gates. They stake it to the ground and lash it to the gates. Slef guards are helping Slef female and children into shelters dug into the floor of the city.
The Prince sends the Dwarves and Brevail to the east beach. The sound of iron boots striking stone rings in their ears. Large Cave Trolls carry huge rafts out of the tunnel on the far side of the lake. Hundreds of Smudge brow Orcs march out of the tunnel.
Sounds of battle come from the north-south tunnel, the Orcs are fighting the Bronze Legionnaires. The attack has begun.
As the Orcs push their loaded rafts across the lake, you hear the catapults launch and see flaming bags arc towards the loaded rafts. The first bag lands in the water and flames rise and spread across the lake in front of the orcs. Three land on rafts and orcs jump from the flaming rafts. As they swim towards the other three rafts large dorsal fins appear moving rapidly towards the swimming orcs. Huge gars’ heads with alligator like teeth grab the swimming orcs and in two gulps each orc is consumed by these large carnivores. As the other three rafts move towards shore a second volley is fired by the catapults, all fall into the water behind the approaching rafts. A third volley from the catapults hits only one raft, the raft burst into flames and orcs jump into the water each being consumed by the gars.
The last two rafts run aground one hundred and ten feet from shore. The orcs jump into the shallow water screaming loudly and run towards shore. Lome sends a ball of fire at the approaching orcs and it explodes killing six orcs. Captain Tul Dar sends a second ball of fire at the approaching orcs and it explodes killing eight orcs. Sgt. Crue sends a stone flying across the water from his staff-sling killing one orc. The eight rangers send stones flying across the water from their staff-slings wounding eight orcs.
There are thirty six orcs charging the line of fifteen dwarves on the beach. Pigswill and Gilfillan slay an orc each, Thgar & Yimhud each slay an orc in the first round. Thgar & Yimhud each slay an orc in the second round, Thgar & Yimhud each slay an orc in the third round.
It is now the fourth round and the orcs are attacking with their two handed Broad Swords. Captain Tul Dar and Lome cast TTYF spells each round for a total of six orcs slain. Sgt. Crue slays three orcs with his staff sling. The Rangers slay eight over three rounds. Total Orc slain = Twenty-five orcs slain. Twenty Orcs remain. And you see two more rafts loaded with orcs, exit the cloud of smoke in the middle of the lake.
Pigswill and Gilfillan slay an orc each, Thgar & Yimhud each slay an orc in the first round. Thgar & Yimhud each slay an orc in the second round, Thgar & Yimhud each slay an orc in the third round. Brevail casts a TTYF each round slaying 3 orcs leaving 17 orcs on shore And you see two more rafts loaded with orcs, exit the cloud of smoke in the middle of the lake. It is now the fourth round and the orcs are attacking with their two handed Broad Swords.
The two rafts with reinforcements make it to the shallows and run aground. The Dwarves are in danger of being over-run. They are still fighting seventeen Orcs, close combat and in four rounds fifty more orcs will be on shore. Tul Dar casts a fireball spell. Twenty-five orcs are slain. Lome casts a fireball spell and 25 more orcs are slain.
The Goblins and nine Royal Guards come to support the Dwarves in repelling the Orcs assault. The Goblin Commander shouts, Pigswill the Orcs have broken through the Bronze Warriors line. They have crossed the lake and taken the main dock. Cam Mu, the Prince, and his Royal Guards are holding ground and no orcs have been able to get off the dock. They sent us and nine Royal Guards to reinforce your line. Goblins Kill Orcs, Pigswill, Kill Orcs! It is a good day to fight!”
Two more rafts with reinforcements for the Orcs exit the wall of smoke. One raft is hit by a large stone from the catapults and three other rocks hit the water around the rafts. The raft is shattered by the stone and breaks apart. The other raft continues to shore.
The valiant dwarven fighters aided by the goblins and nine royal guards engage the fifteen Smudge Brow Orc in close combat. The clash of steel against steel fills the air. The shouts of the combatants echo across the lake. Many blows hit their targets, many more are deflected. But when the dust of battle settles, the Dwarven Warriors and their valiant allies stand, wounded but not defeated. The last raft reaches the shallows and as the orcs jump into the water and race towards the beach a ball of flame soars towards them, explodes and the battle for this side of the island is over. The wind has cleared the smoke away and no other rafts or orcs can been seen. The sounds of battle are not gone. The orcs are still contesting the dock, other rafts have been attached to the city walls; ladders are being raised. The orcs are fighting slefs at the top of the walls. The Prince and his Royal Guard are making a fighting withdrawal to defend the gate from the attacking orcs. Only Cam Mu and his mighty club holds back the fifty orcs on the dock.
With one assault group destroyed the fight now focuses on the fight for the walls and the gate. As Cam Mu fights fifty orcs on the dock, the Prince and his Royal Guards fall back to the gate. Only a small door in the massive gate remains open. The six Royal Guards form a shield wall in front of that door. The rest of the Royal Guards arm themselves with Boar Spears and prepare for the orc's charge. In four great leaps Cam Mu lands inside the shield wall and prepares to protect the Prince.
The Dwarves, Goblins, and Royal Guards race to the gate. Arriving just after Cam Mu. The nine Royal Guards join the shield wall and the Dwarves and Goblins form a line behind the shield wall. Lome and Captain Tul Dar begin chanting as a sphere of fire forms between them and slowly rises above them. The orcs on the dock race towards the gate and are suddenly engulfed in a wall of flame. The Prince shouts, "Cam Mu, to the wall, stop the orcs on the wall, we can hold the gate." Cam Mu's War Cry rings in their ears as he springs to the top of the gate and races to the first ladder. Cam Mu grabs the ladder and hurls it into the lake. Crocks feed on the swimming orcs.
The orcs from the dock not caught in the wall of flame run around the ends of the wall and charge the gate.
The Dwarves and Brevail manage to slay 11 orcs, the Prince, Lome, Capt. Tul Dar, Sgt. Crue, Dar's Rangers, the goblins, and Royal Guard slay 23 orcs. Cam Mu and the Town Guard clear the walls and using burning oil destroy 85 orcs, while the remaining Bronze Legionnaires drive the last of the orcs into the lake. The City erupts in cheers at the victory. The Prince leads the way into the Great Hall. He is Crowned King and calls the Dwarves and Brevail forward. He stands and says, "You came to our aid without promise of reward. You stood by our side and fought for our city. We owe a debt to you that can not be measured in copper. So, in token of our thanks, We present these gifts; for each Dwarf, a Throwing Axe (5d6+6 damage) you need only speak the word "waxed" and it will be in your hand. After throwing it speak the word "dexaw [de saw]" and it will return to your hand. To Brevail we give this copper ring with a granite cube. During the time that you sleep it will draw Kremm from the stone upon which you sleep that will equal the kremm that you store in yourself. You can draw on this kremm when ever you need it to cast your magic. In addition, we give to each of you fifty large pearls (300 copper each) and you will always be welcome in our city as honored guests. We thank you, now bring out the feast, and let us celebrate our victory."
Some one shouts, "Long Live the King!" It is repeated many times as the food is served.

This is how your adventure starts:
Brevail is relaxing in his room alone, there is a flash of bright light and he see a six foot tall Dwarven women in white robes with a Mithril Tiara, many gems braided into her beard and holding a Mithril Staff with a large diamond at the top. She bows and says
"I am Priestess Ruby of the Dwarven God Gembeard, I have a mission for you; Gembeard seeks your assistance in correcting the social order in Dwarf World. The guard at the Gate of the City will ask where your master is, tell him you are meeting Master Pigswill at the Mithril Shield Inn the guard will give you directions. Enter the Inn through the back door. Once in the inn stand near the door and look at the floor.
Sensing that he is out of place here, Brevail will listen, observe, and stay as inconspicuous as possible. As an armed and armored wizard in a place where he would likely be killed by the local constabulary for being a "free elf", he is going to try and pick up as much as he can passively about the environment and the situation he has managed to get himself into.

==============================
The guard at the Gate of the City will ask where your master is, tell him you are meeting Master Pigswill at the Mithril Shield Inn the guard will give you directions. Enter the Inn through the back door. Once in the inn stand near the door and look at the floor.

============================================
Garga is hanging out at the Mithril Shield Inn in the Dwarven City of Dundormor in Dwarf World. You have heard that Pigswill, Gilfillan, Thgar Caskbrewer, and Yimhud the Giant Killer are headed to Dundormor and you hope to meet them and join up for Fame, Glory, and Fortune.
