Malutassial will cast Omnipotent Eye and see what we can find out about the items.
An adventurer's life is filled with tough decisions, and this is one of them. OE must be cast on each item individually to discern its magical properties. A single item must be selected, or if you wish, OE can be cast on every item individually (OE cast five times).
Khloemar casts Omnipotent Eye on the domino mask; his quarterstaff brightens then turns an ashen gray. It can no longer power spells. The spell, ESP, is revealed to be worked into the mask, enabling the wearer access to the spell twice per day, as if he had cast the spell.
Malutassial casts OE on the boots. On saying the command words, Fly Me, wings sprout from the heels of the boots, allowing the wearer to fly for three turns per the spell.
The belt is an ordinary strap of thick leather with a metal buckle. What makes it magical is the tiny gemstone beside the buckle. When the gem is turned, the Belt of Freezing throws a sheet of ice at foes per the spell, Freeze Pleeze.
The belt carries a curse, however. After each use, a L1SR-LK must be attempted by the wearer. If missed, the wearer takes the total number of hits generated by the belt for that turn. Armor provides no protection.

"Take your pick, Zagnar. You do have a mighty fine silver breastplate, but if any of these things suits your fancy, go for it."
Once the team decides if they wish to take any of these items, Random suggests they move toward the door in the eastern wall. "I suggest we move toward the door in the eastern wall." Random looks at the camera, winks, and breaks the fourth wall.
Khloemar puts the mask on, looks bemused at Random and follows to the door. "let me know if you see something I can use to replace my staff please. You know, I leaned on that staff..." He stiffles a sob.
Oddly (or not) Rochin del Graz decides to pick up the Belt of Freezing. He speaks as if he knows the truth. "The foes we'll face down here are tougher than we are. We'll need all the help we can get, regardless of the risks. All of you will be well-advised to remember that." He secures the belt around his waist. "I need at least one of you to survive to pay me my remaining balance of 200 gold."
While Rochin scornfully addresses the group, Khloemar puts on the Mask of ESP, giving him access to the spell of the same name twice per day. He then takes a torch and attempts to enchant it...
...and is successful. ST-1; ST=15; Staff 36/36; APs+6
Malutassial dons the boots, allowing him to fly three times per day per the spell Fly Me (no ST cost).
The party heads toward the door in the eastern wall, and opens it...
You find yourselves floating, rising above menacing storm clouds through a most peculiar chamber. Below you, lightning flashes across black-gray clouds, but in front of you is a man sitting in the lotus position, suspended in mid-air. The right side of his face is milk-white; the left side as black as night.
He speaks: "The universe remains orderly through a fickle balance. For life to continue a delicate union must be met and maintained by the forces of Good and Evil. Good is on the rise, so desperate measures are called for. The forces of Evil cannot be allowed to falter, or the world will stagnate and die. Those of my Order, the Ethereal Wizards, have been asked by Darksmoke to open a Gate that will allow a tide of evil to come over the land of your world, for evil to rise, and for balance, and thus Life, to continue.
"Your party has attracted our attention. So I must ask: which side do you fall on, that of Good or that of Evil?"
(Khaghtchan) Winip grins. "I can go both ways. Sounds like you could do with us to add our weight to the direction you're going to shoving in. Perhaps we can make your road rise more easily or get you off to a ripping start!"
