Thanks anotherelf - I am a fan of the Myers Brigg tests.
Turns out I am a Cleric (ENFJ) - I often gravitate to them in play, and I certainly enjoy expounding my beliefs so not far off at all.

One thing that sets the "standard" T&T setting / Trollworld apart from many RPG worlds: There are no gods per se. So clerics and paladins and other types that get a form of magic from holy sources is kind of out the door.
There are, however, the God Wizards. Who were really super powerful, and in some cases still hanging about, or perhaps not on Trollworld but still interfering. Some of these are egotistical enough to have started cults to gather worshippers and sycophants. Maybe they've left behind esoteric spells and rituals to aid their followers . . . especially the really devoted ones.
So: Paladins might be the fighting arm of a god-wizard's temple staff. As suggested above, they might have a unique spell book. They might have access to unique fighting talents. Because they're devoted themselves to serving their god-wizard, they might have some interesting powers; regeneration, or faster kremm recovery, or heightened senses. But these go away when the god-wizard sees they aren't serving them. They might even have a geas on them, or a curse triggered by disloyalty.

Whoops! I posted my reply w/o seeing trrebmahl's post, which sets up the Trollworld situation.

You could create a Paladin Character Type. Pick a couple of Prime Attributes. Add whatever limitations or bonuses you like. Maybe a Paladins Spell Book (Like Ken's Kin ones) - available only from your local Chapter House. I really like the idea of a Paladin type with their own spells. I'm returning to this after quite some time. After more thought, I'm thinking of creating a class of warrior-monks that are more like samurai than they are like crusaders. So, more Eastern in outlook/philosophy than Western. So, basically Jedi in Trollworld! And the Jedi are basically space samurai. These warrior-monk, I envision will have a special sword that is crafted for them (not a katana) that probably has some kind enchantment. Maybe they earn the right to get it (so the sword is given after a certain level). I like the idea of a special armor also. Not sure what kind. And they would have their own unique spells (healing being one of them). Hmmmmm....more thought needs to be had on this. Special sword to earn? There are some epic myths and legends (several smershed into Arthur's legend) but I kinda like the heroquest of Humakt. Are you familiar with it?

And now just for fun....I found the following blog page that has a fun post that assigns D&D classes to each of the Myers Briggs personality types: ciarvella.com/2013/10/26/myers-briggs-and-rpg-classes/And what I find extra amusing is that my personality type comes out as "paladin", hence my thought to post this here. Care to share what your class is? Oddly (?) he classes me as a paladin. I say "oddly" because I dislike classes per se. Seems unrealistic to me. Don't know anyone who can be pigeonholed into a class, and I think that's why Feats almost overwhelmed the D&D world for a time. 0D&D's classes were, yes, a shorthand descriptor from wargames, but it seemed to me that they really described professions. Not what a person was, but what they did on a regular basis. In a combat-emphasis game, that would be enough - and was, for a time. But I grew to love (or hate) my characters and my fellow gamers' characters for the personalities they developed. Maybe that's why I gravitated to Tunnels and Trolls, where class DID mean "job," and ran silly D&D tourneys where the fighting man ran when outnumbered, came to a wall, and had to stop because only thieves could climb walls. Now I am older and less self-conscious, and thoroughly enjoy OSR games, especially Castles and Crusades (sort of OSR) but still mostly enjoy portraying a character who acts against type. A fighting dwarf with an INT of 4 who studies nuclear physics is my current favorite PC.

I keep realizing my age when I realize that my oldest daughter sang this song her senior year - and the song was new.

I hear you... I keep referring to the students in my classes as 'my kids' to other instructors and then realize my kids are actually older than my students...
