As Kane speaks he finds his own voice booming around the arena, obviously picked up by some remote microphone and broadcast across the tanoy.

Traegel steps into the arena, eyeing the stands, then spitting upon the ground, he says, "Traegel". With his axe in one hand and sword in the other he surveys the arena looking for objects that might be of use to him in the ensuing battle.

Silex waits until the "clowns" have guided the rest of the group out into the arena and while they have their backs to him tries to sneak out behind them, all the while continuing to use his chamelioid ability to stay out of sight in the hope that this will afford an opportunity for escape and/or sneaking up behind whatever the opposition happens to be.

Haemantine steps out and gives his most charismatic bow as he gives his name, hoping to find something positive to bolster him from somewhere in the crowd.

As each of the gladiators gives his name it is boomed out across the arena. Some of the crowd cheer, but must jeer. A few beer cans and various other items of debris are thrown into the ring (including, bizarrely, a tyre).
'Looooords, ladies and various others,' the announcer announces. 'Next in the ring, for your enjoyment, we have Kane, Traegel, and Haemantine, who will be fighting...' [dramatic pause] someone from the crowd shouts 'my thingy', bursts of laughter, [more dramatic pause] 'Gravalax!' There is excited shouts and cheers, Gravalax is obviously well known. A door opens into the ring, dry ice pours out, dramatically backlit, (it looks like someone has been watching old VHSs of Stars in their Eyes'. A shambling figure enters the ring, 20 foot tall if he is an inch. Gravalax is a giant and he is holding a log with spikes sticking out in all directions. He roars and moves slowly towards the group.
Silex seems to have been forgotten.

Kane lets rip his adrenal gland and in the blink of an eye distorts radically - his height increases by 4' and his muscles expand and twist as his skin turns red , black blood projecting from the top of his head. The strapping of poly leather shifts around his body as it changes. He readies to spring attack and gout fire into the opponents face as soon as battle commences
(now in mutant form - adds +27 - planning a limited stunt , trying to use his blasting power mutant ability to obscure Gravalax's vision as he leaps into the fray.)
(The dT&T rules allow casters to spell and fight - can Kane both use his mutant power of fire (one of twice a day) and hack with his twin axes as well?)

Haemantine watches carefully, cautiously, waiting for the opponent's move, looking to help his comrades.

Gravalax makes a L2 SV vs DEX to try and dodge the fiery blast. He is nimbler than you expect but just fails to dodge. (Does the blast do any direct damage? If so add that to your combat total for round 1) Disorientated Gravalax gets a combat total of 72.

Silex tries to move 'incognito' in to a position to be able to use his quarterstaff to attack from behind and hit Gravalax at the back of one of his knees in an attempt to put him on the floor.

OOC- I realise I have not equipped H - what might I reasonably have, do you think? I rolled 18 for money.

The fire breath acts as a blasting power so it does direct damage that can be opposed by a combat total. One of two used for today.
Rolling 12 dice = 44 + 27 adds + 27 adds (normal combat and blasting power) Kane generates a combat total of 98 with 2 spite. He takes 1 damage from the horrendous toll on his body from the transformation.
From the point of view of the spectators a short wiry man leaps into the air transforming into a monster as he does - fire explodes in the face of Gravalax and the axe blades whip at his body from either side. A stench of brimstone drifts across the arena and Kane lands in front of Gravalax axes poised to strike and defend. Black blood drips down his back and onto the sand of the arena.

I'll have an axe (5d6) and a trollish dagger (2d6+5), 10 caltrops and a bola for combat.

As the spell goes off, Haemantine throws the caltrops all around Gravalax's feet.
Is there any emotion from Gravalax to feed off?
