How close do the troopers round the corner seem? If they are some way away Kane will double back, otherwise he will cover this angle and rely on the rest of the group to handle the lift.

'Close the door you fool!' Appleskin shouts at Traegal. Hearing this the troopers start to run. The rest of you get an opportunity to fire as they round the corner. L3 DEX roll.

Kane increases his Str to 12 in a moment of desperate (normal) adrenaline (XP of 110 expended, leaves 80 XP)
Damage roll 40 (3 spite) + 4 adds = 44 on the first guard as he comes round the corner.
Hoping that his earlier stealth (L1 save made) combined with the guards haste will give him a surprise attack. He will stay low for the laser bolts whizzing over his head.

Seeing that his comrades are choosing to stand and fight, Traegel growls, closes the door, unslings his laser rifle and concentrates fire on the first guard he sees: 5d6 + 13 adds +2d6 warrior bonus = 37.

[OOC: How many dice does the laser rifle score? You probably posted it but I cannot see the information at the moment]
[Just spotted @elvenscribe (Hi Rich), used 5D6, so on the assumption that that's the correct damage...]
5D6 + 25 = 1,6,4,3,5 + 25 = 44

[OOC I always work on the basis that if you're strong enough to hold the weapon completely still, you're more likely to hit the target in a 'soft spot' so you can have the STR-derived combat adds. Mainly this is driven by a degree of laziness on my part  ] |

However, on the basis of KISS maybe just go with the status quo (again and again and again). |
