Question for anyone who has used the app recently: Would you allow someone to use their character from the app in tabletop play?
A player in my Dungeon World group recently got the app, and we'll probably be playing T&T next. I expect everyone will roll up new characters, but if he asks I'd like to have an idea.
On one hand, I imagine the app prevents players from fudging their stats. But if it lets you reroll your character over and over until you get the stats you want, that's the same thing.
I haven't played around with it, so I don't know.
What do you think?

I haven't played around with it, so I don't know. What do you think? Make them roll in the app with you watching. It's just a way of speeding up the rolling, yes? So they roll, and record those scores. Or are you saying that a player would want to use an existing character, one that has already played some of the solos? That's a lot more dubious - some of the solos can do extreme things to attributes. It also depends on what your game will be like. If you expect characters to die regularly, then it probably doesn't matter too much in any case...

Yeah, I would go with no. First, because it's a hybrid version of the rules, not really working with any edition. Second, as stated above, there's lots of chance to make super characters just by hammering at re-roll.
In any case, I would have them roll up three or four each, as it doesn't take much time. Even if your game isn't that deadly, it will give them pause, thinking that they will need that many replacements.

I would tend to agree with Mahrundl and Jeffepp. Characters created and run through solos tend to develop quite differently from those rolled and run through GM campaigns. Items and stat inflation could throw your GM plan right out the window.

I will offer an alternative perspective. The stat increases in Meta arcade are only permanent from levelling - ones within the scenario stay in it.
If the character from Meta arcade, and the equipment they have gained , fits with your campaigns power level, then convert them across. The fact that the character has adventure gained backstory will be a bonus.
I would then insist that any advancement for the character in future be gained within your campaign - a branching universe point for the character. I can see how this could add to the players experience for both the app and the real life experience.

I'm fairly sure that it was different in the beta, which is where I've played it most. It seems like an odd way to handle it, although it would certainly cut down on power creep (which may be the point, I suppose).

But, if you knew what you were doing, you could ramp them up astronomically VERY quickly. And, it's probably better in the long run that they made the change.

Agreed that it's probably the better way to handle it. I just hadn't realised that they'd gone that way.

FYI, the update to Sword For Hire has made it broken in two places, and can't be completed.
