I just got into T&T after 20 years playing just about anything else. I have two questions about this game, if anyone does not mind answering them.
1) Reading the rules 6th and free edition, I cannot fathom how missile weapons work. What does it mean by the hitpoints are not substracted from the combat roll?
and
2) Is there a play by post or mail (free) place to play?

This is in answer to question #2: There is a game starting right now on Trollhalla that is play by email, run by none other than the creator of the game himself, Ken St. Andre. To get in on the game, go to www.trollhalla.com and send Ken an email asap asking to become a member. The game starts this Monday, March 5, so don't wait. Trollhalla membership is free, and Ken is always running various games and contests. There are occasionally other games run online, but they are hit and miss, as far as I know. Maybe someone else on the board will know of regularly held online games or an online game starting up soon.

I should mention that the game that Ken will be running is a 7th edition game. Also, I'd like to point out that there is no official 6th edition of the game. The free edition of the game that I'm aware of is available at freedungeons.com, and is an abridged version of the 5th edition rules. Is that the free edition you are referring to? Or is there some other free edition floating around out there?

No I mean the free edition, sorry about that. Thought the free edition was the sixth?

Welcome, Rpguru!
There are various documents calling themselves T & T 6th edition floating around the Internet. None of them are official. Ken decided to jump straight to 7th edition to avoid confusion between the official rules and the various unofficial ones.
I can't answer the missile question without knowing exactly what the version you have says, but here's a quick summary of how missile combat works:
1. The character attempts a Saving Roll against Dexterity. The level of the SR depends on the distance to the target, possibly modified by other factors at the Game Master's discretion. In 5th edition, the target's size is also a factor, but in 7th edition it is not (although the GM may choose to factor it in). 2. If the SR is failed, the shot misses and no damage is done to the target. 3. If the SR is made, the damage from the shot is calculated based on the weapon's dice and adds, the user's personal adds, and any other factors (such as enchantments on the missile weapon). This amount of damage will be applied to the target regardless of which side wins the combat (although armour absorbs damage in the normal manner).
I think that the point that you were querying comes into point 3. Even if the missile user's side loses the round of combat, the person hit by the missile will take the calculated missile damage (less armour). The melee portions of the losing side's combat damage are subtracted from the winning side's to determine how much damage the losers take, but the missile damage is always counted.
Does that help?

I have hunted for a version but the only one I found is the one I am purchasing from "that guy". I really want to see what everyone has done with TnT over the years. best regards Dalton

Dalton, I'll have a look, but many of the sites that had them are off-line now. I saved copies of them as I found them (being a consumate packrat ), but I'd have to dig deep to locate said copies.

Again about missile weapons. Concerning the chart showing a "to hit" number, do you then subtract the attribute from that or just roll and add personal adds and double dex from the roll?
I do believe that question was confusing enough!
