I tried a one-shot using the Japan mini-rules and the adventure in the back of the 2013 Free RPG Day offering. This is my first experience with TnT.
It's an odd adventure.
The party started as two Dwarf Warriors and an Elf Wizard. They only explored the Western side of the cavern and while they completely failed their mission, they did all survive.
The player's seemed to like the system so after our big annual gaming weekend (Wild West Traveller) we continued with these characters.
I added some Deluxe rules and probably have my head mixed between Deluxe, 5 and 1. I only own the Japan book and various Free RPG Day books. I also snagged the GM Screen, which I haven't found use for yet.
The second adventure was Blackbird's Cave by James West (as found in Black Pudding) which was a B/X ToG adventure I converted. Adding to the original three characters is another Dwarf Warrior and a Leprechaun Rogue.
They had that option or Axton's Tomb as well as Those Dam Goblins but chose the cave.
The party delved into the cave and defeated all enemies including a pseudo-god or at least it's current manifestation. I was still learning TnT rules and struggled with converting to reasonable challenges from ToG.
Session 3 saw the party (back to original 3) help a Leprechaun regain his cobbling spectacles (St. Patty's Day) from some vicious Fear Dearg (recaps but not TnT recaps). It was a bit silly as I had them where paper glasses to see things.
It went well and the challenges I created were closer to what we want. This was also a ToG adventure I converted from Ultanya.
Next up?
I'm. Thinking Fast Food from Elder Tunnels Summer 2011 (I'll keep It Came From Beyond the Stars for when we end up with extra time).
They're in Zorr so I should probably keep things more specific to that area of Trollworld but the world and TnT still seem a bit foreign to me.
