I already shared about how I have thrown out WIZ and use STR for magic. Most of my house rules are, in fact, just removing stuff from dTnT that I don't like. I do not use talents, for example. I find them to be unnecessary clutter and, as written, they seem tacked on rather the integral to the game. Another example is Section 4.3 covering armor wear and improving weapons, etc. Just a tad crunchy for my taste.
I run one-to-one games for my wife who is new to RPGs in general, so the simpler the rules, the better.

Is there anything that is in dT&T that isn't in 5e that you want to hold onto?
If not, just play 5e.

Yes. I prefer directly spending AP on attributes, I like the simpler weapons and armor tables, the warrior level bonus, the Deluxe spell book, the retry SR for humans, the single combat adds, the removal of negative adds, the chance to save a character who is at zero CON.
So really it's just my personal taste I suppose.

Talents, from dT&T (though MSPE introduced them back in that day) allowing both character customization and stunting, which I find a great deal of fun. 2. Spite-Activated special powers from the edition that shall not be named. Again, this allows me to customize monsters and keep players on their toes.

I love how flexible the TnT system is. I guess my sweet spot is a hybrid of 5e and Deluxe 'lite'.

Not playing T&T by the rules, or playing it by your own rules IS playing it properly according to Ken St Andre, our games author. I personally use WIZ and Talents, but it's fine that you change it to how you want it. I was not intending to be sarcastic but instead to glean what you did want from your T&T. There is a thread about 'whats core to your T&T?' and there are many replies to it. As long as you are having fun you are winning.

No sarcasm inferred. I am happy to discuss my ideas about how I play. I was attracted to T&T precisely because Ken (and Liz) really push the "do it your own way" idea and the embracing of that fact that it's OK to be silly in a game about magic spells, elves and goblins.
The rules are guidelines that should never interfere with the fun.

Indeed. Just like all my other RPGs.

Good Ol' Deleted. I told him to throw down that last bag of Gold and just run but he just wouldn't listen.
