I don't have many details, but not all of you will have seen the email sent by Steve Crompton with news that Ken has been involved in a serious car accident. He's injured but recovering.
Earlier this evening he responded to a message I sent and I've been told that he has also been posting on Facebook. Apparently he suffered several fractures and breaks, so probably won't be out and about on his regular walks for a while.
I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing him a very speedy recovery.
Okay, a bit more info: he has a fractured pelvis, broken collarbone, and broken arm. He’ll be in a regular hospital bed, they think, for about a month and then he will spend some time in an outpatient rehab facility. Rehab is fairly common for these types of injuries, especially at KSA’s age.
Yikes! That's very unfortunate. I hope that he recovers well and quickly, and that he's kept safe from the pandemic.
Also hoping that he has appropriate health cover so that this doesn't hit him with massive bills...
There has been a further update from Steve Crompton via the Monsters!Monsters! Kickstarter mails which I hope will be ok to repost here:
KEN ST ANDRE WAS IN A SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT - But he is recovering. I spoke to Ken and he sounded very much his regular self. He has a fractured pelvis, broken collarbone and either a fractured or broken arm. He said they told him there would be about a month of recovery and he would probably end up at a temporary rehab facility. Ken lives on the 2nd floor of an apartment so we'll have to see how he deals with this in the short term. Certainly he can have groceries etc delivered to him.
I will check on Ken's situation in regards to medical bills. I don't know what is and is not covered. He does have health insurance but right now I doubt he has any idea what his "co-pay" for his recovery will be. We'll see and I'll keep you all posted as best I can. I knew about his situation yesterday, but did not want to post about it until his family had done so and I had the opportunity to talk to Ken to find out if how he wanted people to know what had happened.
At this point pretty much all the Monsters! Monsters! Materials have been shipped out. There are still a few people who have either not paid their overseas shipping, never filled out their survey (so we don't have your address) or have not paid for additional items they requested. Please check you KS messages to see if we have contacted you in regards to those issues. If you have please contact me via Kickstarter and I will try to resolve your order status. Note that we have shipped or things and you still may not have gotten them yet as they may still be in the mail - this is especially true for overseas orders which can take over a month to get to their destinations.
In the meantime I will continue to update you on Ken's situation and mail the remaining MM items out as your extra payments come in or are confirmed.
