What do you think would happen to T&T if it had the investment pot that TOG now enjoys. Would it ruin it's charm and free-wheeling frontier feel or would slick, glossy publications and Marketing Boards be a boon to it's community?

What do you think would happen to T&T if it had the investment pot that TOG now enjoys. Would it ruin it's charm and free-wheeling frontier feel or would slick, glossy publications and Marketing Boards be a boon to it's community? My quote for this is 'If you think less is more, think how much more, more is!' I guess we as individuals might miss being part of a 'select' community of people. Because we are relatively few, we tend to agree to disagree and the flame wars over editions and rules that happen in other games communities are not a thing here. It would be different, but undoubtedly there would be space for people to share the way they enjoy the game. Look at how many versions of D&D are played and discussed, the multiple strands and takes on it with the OSR. But good thought experiment. Who knows , maybe the new company will propel the best RPG to the dizzying heights it deserves. This seems a good place to share a cool article I just read (though blogged years ago) about the emergence and impact of T&T. www.filfre.net/2016/02/friends-of-the-wasteland-the-legacy-of-flying-buffalo/

There would be some cries of 'sell-out' for sure, but I think we're all old enough and ugly enough to get over it I believe we'd gain more than we'd loose.

I think a large investment pot would change the game, because businesses want return on investment. The defining features of the most popular other RPGs include higher power and lower deadliness. I think that would result in a T&T version that is different and probably less appealing to its existing fans, to gain more popularity with more people. Moving towards the average.
However, the old editions still exist, and there's a lot of players out there who would like T&T but have just never heard of it. Having a glitzy popular version would help more players find the old editions, similar to how TOG is working in practice.
The two most welcome mechanical changes that I can think of are fleshing out high level play, and a dice compression mechanic with d6s.
(I think I remember a previous Trollszine had a dice compression article using non-d6, but I think the universal d6 is part of T&T's charm and there's probably a way to do it since it's about the probability distributions more than the raw numbers.)
Edit: Also, an organized play league.

If they just make a character sheet for roll20 so I can run T&T games I will be thrilled.
T&T is a great little game and it could be a Great Big game with the right resources and marketing behind it.
It is and my guess always will be a niche game in a mostly niche hobby but it could make it's owners a nice little bundle if managed correctly.
A cleaned up modern edition with half a dozen additional books with new monsters, spells and settings along with hundreds of small delves for it? Yes PLEASE!

Just Kickstarter it. It's amazing how much money pours in on that for even the most obscure idea.

Hate Kickstarter. It was fine at the start. You take a gamble on a product and people you believe in and are rewarded for more than you paid for or lose everything in the attempt. It's like any other form of gambling. here you just gamble on people.
Now it's just a cheap easy way for companies to minimize their financial risk by putting the risk onto their customers. Very few offer any real incentives for that risk now. with fake stretch goals offering things they should have included in the base product...give us $20,000 more and get some colored artwork! $10,000 more and will will include a character sheet! Oh Boy!
