Greetings gentletrolls,
What setup do you use to play your solos, particularly online/PDF-based solos?
Do you print to paper, and play all pencil-and-paper?
Do you use a tablet or a laptop for the solo, and pencil-and-paper for the rest?
Do you have an all-electronic setup?
I'm a relative newcomer to T&T so I have few solos in paper. However, I've played more of my paper ones so far than my electronic ones. Being able to flip back and forth between the pages and flag the random tables, etc. is really convenient.
I've been laid up this weekend and wanted to play some solos, but having paper, dice, etc. not at the kitchen table is difficult to manage. Necessity is the mother of invention, so I think I've found an electronic setup that works: half my screen devoted to the PDF, the top right 25% for a text editor with my character sheet and notes, and the bottom right 25% for a Python interpreter and a dice roller library.
That made me wonder: what do YOU fine trolls use for your solo play? Are you a traditionalist about paper-only, or did you make all-electronic work for you?

I would prefer all paper, but generally don't print out the PDFs, too costly.
TBH, I generally play the T&T app mostly these days.

I usually play ALL physical having printed out the solo's from whatever site / fanzine I found them in.
I have played one's from the trollamancer site with my rulebook and character sheet on the computer table with me, but on the whole that's kind of a pain since I like to spread out my gaming over a few days and I can't just leave the solo open to the para I was on with the computer.

I play it on my phone. I was on an old Galaxy S5 or 6 up until about 5 months ago, and I have a new Samsung A71 or something and it worked/works just fine on both. So I'm afraid I'm no help IDK if this helps, but I have always just watched an ad and used free hearts to play. I've never bought any hearts or diamonds or whatever.

I've been using my PDF reader's bookmark feature, but nothing beats being able to leave the book in the right place. And those little 3M page marker flags... love those things... That must be an impressive solo collection!

That must be an impressive solo collection! I use my desktop computer so while I could just bookmark the page I'm on and go to it the next day, it's just easier to either do short one's I can get through in 1 sitting or do one of my hardcopy one's. I'd say I have about half a 3" binder's worth of printed out solo's and then a binder and a half of bought one's. I don't lack for one's to play that's for sure. ** I recently had to restock my 3M page marker flags, I've used so many! Hahaha

I killed so many delvers this weekend that I wrote a script to generate new ones. I almost made it out of Sword for Hire with a nice magic item, but screwed up so much that Mongo would never hire me again, and then died in another solo. On the other hand, maybe knowing that I can generate another delver in a second made me take dumber risks. Hmm... not sure if this is a benefit for electronic play, or not. I had a lucky streak with TARO and it took me several tries to get a delver who could play Devotion to Duty, and then I died in the first combat!

I love the flavor of Devotion to Duty - I think another delver will be trying again soon, hopefully a little better rolled this time. The unfortunate loss was below average across the board, but I felt obligated to give it a go in the spirit of 3d6 in order.

Hey, d4caltrops ! I prefer to play with all physical items. Seems like almost everything I do these days is on an electronic device of some sort, so, 'going old school' with actual paper/pencil/dice/books gives me a nice break from that. It also makes Mrs. Gremlin come ask if I was rolling dice. All's fair in love and solos. Ok, I just have to ask, "How does DARO fit in / What does DARO look like in love?"

It also makes Mrs. Gremlin come ask if I was rolling dice. I totally get that! I've been tempted to print solos myself for the same reason, too much screen time already. There is no substitute for rolling physical dice, especially big bunches of d6s. But I've only got an inkjet at the moment which is not the most efficient for that. All's fair in love and solos. Ok, I just have to ask, "How does DARO fit in / What does DARO look like in love?" Hmm... you correctly guess a favorite food? You nail the perfect gift? Maybe could be a thread of its own

My apologies d4caltrops , I'm not trying to kill your characters in my solos, it just feels like that sometimes Since you mentioned it, I am pleased to say that a better-suited character made it out of Devotion to Duty (with divine intervention from Hoepht), not exactly with flying colors, but with enough success to start other adventures on good footing. Cheers and thank you for a nice starting solo

I go fully electronic except for the dice - I enjoy rolling them.
