I've seen the check (failed). I was rushing when I posted yesterday (sack time) but you can have THREE attempts at bartering before the Merchant rolls his eyes and moves onto another customer. So does that mean I can roll twice more to try and get the dagger for less? |

Will's story (in his own words): " I grew up on the family vineyard. As a nipper I thought I'd be stuck there forever. Near the farm was an old elf who'd been a delver, years ago. I loved hearing his tales of adventure in foreign parts. I got my strength hauling wine to his place.
"Last year we had a bad season. Something bad got into the wine. I fell ill drinking it. My constitution still ain't right. The family told me to leave the farm till I was better. The elf gave me some cash to get started as an adventurer, I dunno why.
" I'm a pretty good singer. We used music to set the ryhthm when we was treading the grapes, and people said I had a talent for it. I've earned a few coppers singing since I left the farm. Just enough to keep body and soul together.
"It was bad luck getting ill, but at least it got me off the farm. I'm strong for my age and I hope that will see me through. If I make a big score I'll kick back and enjoy life like that old elf. But I won't be drinking wine again."Possibly TMI but having decided to go with the numbers as rolled I wanted a vaguely credible backstory. Happy to reformat the stats as a table if that will help, or make changes to fit the planned story arc. |

This isn't super important in the grand scheme of things other than to save you some cash. At this point you don't know our persuasive Bard otherwise you could let him do the sweet talking... With 8 Cha I'd just suggest going for L1SR and praying for a double... Edit: Will update Firdles' AP once you have another couple of rolls for Bartering on the log. |

I've been tinkering with formatting my character information. Not quite there yet but I hope it will eventually be an easy to read summary that can be used as a template. Trouble is I normally post using a small tablet and it's a pain to work with BBCode on that. Happy to carry on it it is any use. I borrowed your BBCode houndle, for a bit of consistency  |

I borrowed your BBCode houndle , for a bit of consistency  Consistency is good, though I'm not quite there yet. The display wasn't quite right on my iPhone so I've forced more cells to right align. Serves me right for being lazy. Feels as though the form ought to be more compact somehow. I'm like a 1st level Rogue when it comes to code; I can do a bit of magic, but not that much 👩🔧 |

Hi Well do you need an extra body, that is one not destined to be a corpse? That is not direct to any with a Con 6 or lower! In-game posting, might be problem if you need fast moving as I in Glasgow (UK) and not sure of a the post rule, one a day perhaps? (which would be fine for me), but play PbP with folks across the great divide before, so no problemo. Still love to join, but if so will need help with that dice roller till I get use to it. Have a game going for Conan D20 on RPG Crossing (which has a great dice roller) and also in a Star Trek on rpol.net. Done PbP for last 12 years, mostly GM, so have good idea of form. Play T&T 40+ years, D&D Blue book, AD&D 1E, Runequest, Stormbringer from my early teens, now do D20 Conan, have played plenty of D&D 3.5, but not touched the later versions; as I not interested (too much change is bad), still T&T is a constant and I vant mor. So, point the way and I will stumble behind! |

Dice rolling 'room' we are using is HERE and the password is Trollbridge #Repeat 9 3d6 will roll a set of 9 stats (assign where you like and the 9th roll is starting gold) or #3D6 then copy/paste that nine times. TARO rolls but I can't find anywhere on the Rolz site that will automatically TARO so just roll an extra roll maybe with a comment like This is the TARO roll #3d6 Hope that makes sense! |

Being Humans Will and Firdle will get +10% earned experience applied and kept separate so it doesn't compound interest so to speak and mess with my brain if I figure out that's what happened later. nialldubh if you can read the intro (or the short version) HERE it will give some idea of where you guys will be starting. You can be a non human (goodkin) character just bear in mind Humans can more or less go anywhere on the continent of Rrrr'lff (the Dragon Continent) so long as they keep their wits about them. They earn +10% experience with our house rules. Other kin may have to watch their step in places like Khazan (where Elves are advised to stay away, for example). You get THREE attempts to haggle for equipment to drive the price down. On the dice rolling room type <character name whatever it is> L1SR (or L2 if you feeling lucky) #2D6+<Charisma Stat> if in doubt look at the dice roll log and see what rolls have gone before As for posting rate I don't want to tie anyone down. Just so long as everyone is on board with the fact that real life sometimes mean a day or so without progress. if you go AWOL for a day or two I'll nudge things along with your character as an NPC to keep things moving. Any longer please let me know if you get chance and we can put the character on ice or NPC if required. I've been playing by post for what, twenty years or so (Yahoo groups and sooner I think) so I'm well aware that stuff happens and people need to deal with it. I intend to speed up the rate of Experience gained through having lots of Saving Roll type situations and we'll see how combat goes. You're all experienced players/GMs and seem well versed in the rules so there's no real need to do anything other than cook up characters and dive in. I'll get started on the game intro and give you guys something to start play with. |

Welcome once again, nialldubh.
I'm also UK based, West Midlands though work occasionally takes me to different parts of the UK. I don't think we have formally agreed a posting schedule as yet.
Will Darness is probably the most completely realised character I've ever made up for T&T, at least at this stage of a game. I'm intrigued to see if he will repay the effort.
While I think of it, would you want the character sheets copied across to their sub board apn? If I recall correctly there is something about editing being restricted to the original poster so I guess it depends how you would want to handle updates.

Yup, when the character is finalised/ready to start feel free to post up in the Character Info section with your completed character. Looks like you certainly know your way around BBCode Houndle. I will try to either post direct links to the character sheets and current running totals in my signature or post links to their respective threads in the character section. |

I'd also like to state (for the record) that Will Darness is a fine looking fellow and sure to be a hit with the ladies  Perhaps more reliant on that silver tongue and singing voice than the 80s Mullet ...  To be fair it's better than I can manage! |

You have the option of one of three sets of dice so roll two more sets (of 9x3D6) and pick which one to use. I'm suspecting it will be set #1...

Have you got a link to the rolls? I logged into the Rolz room and can't find any trace of them. Did you log into rolz.org/dr?room=high_adventure ? Still trying to figure out some of the functions but using this creates a (hopefully) permanent log of the rolls. Also meant to mention in the previous post that if need be I'll rattle out any rolls that are required without having to wait for you guys to log in - like a check to see if you find a secret door or get some idea of an ambush etc. APs are awarded if the SR has some consequence for failure as per the rules. For stuff that the character won't learn from (other than not to bother attempting that level 50 SR) there will be no AP award. On another note Dwarves in our version of trollworld are grudgingly accepted as humans are but old grudges still run deep with the likes of Trolls, Urucks and Dragons and so on. The Human characters will start off on the back foot (lower level) but that +10% Experience as well as the re-roll of Saving Rolls (3.41/Pg20 DTnT) which will kick in when the game starts proper will hopefully even the balance over time as the Humans catch up. You're all getting the same three attempts at Bartering before the game starts, regardless. Dwarves with 4 Cha will need a miracle to pay anything less than normal (the left hand price listed on the price list)... |
