Does Unerring Blade enchant the weapon? If so, even at the higher cost, that's probably what I should be teaching Akki so our sailors et. al. can fight properly... (Thoughts, gringnr?) Goshdarnit (the bridge automatically changed my first word) that staff is looking tempting... |

Our house ruled version of Unerring Blade (now costing 6 MP) is far more effective than the original but will not enchant the blade, it will enchant the combatant. Still useful but against an enchanted creature (requires magic to hit, or resistant to non magic weapons) you may struggle. Vorpal Blade or Whammy will count as enchanting the weapon...

Update Sunday (tomorrow). Had my son over a day earlier so been playing solid video games since. Need a rest (RPGs!) tomorrow. Thankfully the youngest son likes the same games as I do - strategy, 4x, kingdom management, Stellaris also XCom and the like. I'm too old to join him in games that involve shooting and twitchy reflexes. He started running rings around me a year or so ago and I had to admit that my days as a 'twitch' gamer (since the days of Pac man, space invaders, phoenix, scramble etc) are over.  |

Enjoy. I so appreciate all the work you're putting into this game.
(And though I'm always playing catch-up, I hadn't quite yet started to worry, check for crazy a$$ weather in the U.k. issues with public transportation: My oldest friend--almost 5 decades!--moved from Southern California to Bath in 2022 so I actually have more U.K. news sites bookmarked on my browser than I do local ones...

You could actually play Scramble? No wait, old brain is getting it confused with Zaxxon where I might as well have just dropped the quarters into the machine and walked away, death came so fast...

OOC. One inadvertent effect of the new "fumble" rule may have been to increase the value of a high Luck score. Maybe needs some discussion about the implementation of this rule. Possibly make it class dependent? e.g. Warrior sacrifices STR to re roll a fumble, wizard sacrifices IS or WIZ. This would help encourage developing characters "in character". Justification: character draws on the inner powers conveyed by their class to make a supreme effort. For consideration. You may have a point here. Just as we have a system to divert damage from Con to others stats we might be able to apply that to losing Luck when you reroll from a fumble.  For most characters Cha is a dump stat (along with speed which doesn't get many tests in play. I'll sort that out as much as I can) so applying stat loss as per Con Loss might say Will loses 7 Lk for rerolling his luck after a fumble or loses: 3 points of Str, 3 of Dex, 2 of Con, 4 of IQ and 3 of Speed as well as 1 of Luck. That's the equivalent of of losing 7 Luck (with Con and Luck being 1/1 loss, Str, Dex and Speed being 3/1 Lk and Iq being 4/1 Luck). That loss above is more than you'd lose in adds for straight luck loss if you have stats of 15 or more, but depends on whether you prefer to keep Luck or spread the adds loss around a little. Any good? |

I have my XP spend dialed in. I wanted to ask about languages. Can Akki talk to some sailors, perhaps see if he can learn some stuff? There's an dive take on chaos magic in translation spells there...what if they fail (imagine an account of a broken truce where the spell switched subject and direct object)? What if they succeed spectacularly (like Wonder Woman's lass of truth, or a deep understanding of all the nuance)? How much of this would the character would be aware of? |

I'd have thought a language would take weeks/months to learn so the check to learn it would require a certain amount of time (months) and less time than that ramps up the difficulty. Still, this is a game about magic. Jepistra (where the PCs start from) has magic shops so it might be a case of walking in, telling them what you want to learn and hey presto... |
