Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
Oblivious to the gods and the shouts, the raging Dwarf reaches the location of the cry for pain, ''gimmie mi axe, time is a wasting,” he grows at the bleeding man, cursing he bellows, “I just cannie be in every place at once!”
“Oot mi way,” he shouts as he rushes for the window (or nearby door into inn). 'If the assassin tried again.' He pondered, unknowing if Rathmere still lived. “Coming through, git oot mi way.” he stomps for the stairs up going at full speed.
Thud, thud, thud! “These stairs are high,” he cursed. Thud, thud, thud!
“Rharr,” boots in door (CRASH), “Yharr!!!” Roaring his battlesong, “Yharr!” and launches himself at any in room...
Actions:
Actions of Dwarf... As above. Though he might grab a salad sandwiches as he passes one of the serving wenches from her tray....
Ah, an angry blue bear, ya!!!

Ah, an angry blue bear, ya!!! OOC You may have missed my previous post HERE.
To find his axe Klarrrrchur must make a L2SR on Luck Failure means he wastes the round searching. If he succeeds he gets AP for being lucky and learning a lesson - don't toss the axe away into a crowd and...
Make another L2SR on Luck. Failure means someone has found an axe, said 'hey! Free Axe' and wandered off with their new, free axe. Success means it is still on the floor where it landed and he can scoop it up. Then he can continue with his intended mayhem next round. There is no AP for the second award. That's just being lucky though he may consider the lesson being on the merits/flaws of a plan that involves tossing his axe forty feet away into a crowd and hoping no one nicks it.
So, two L2SR on luck please! No need for the second if the first fails! Judging by your luck so far I would expect you to make both these rolls with points to spare!
Or Klarrrrchur can get stuck into the fight and hope his axe is still there after the crowd clears, try to push his way through the crowd to get to the upstairs room (a str check but that's just a 'no crit fail' otherwise a formality given he juggles full beer barrels) and find the would be assassin.
The town square is mayhem right now. Only the musically voiced Will Darnell and the oddly noticeable Rathmere can be heard over the din and Rathmere is strangely quiet right now...

Klarrrrchur curses the loss of his axe...
Actions:
Continues his rampage...
OOC: Yip Darn missed that post, do not find axe, someone will suffer, that was given to him by his grandfather... Klarrrrchur only wanted to take a few seconds, if it too long, he more concerned that Rathmere will get skewered, so onwards to room, THUD, THUD THUD!
Been laughing for near an hour imagining the Dwarf's passage through the town...

Firdle Right, that was a bit close. I need to, I need to, er, what do I do?! I can't TTYF him. Well, I could, but that would probably escalate the fight to a more deadly level for everyone. Where is Klarrrrchur?!! I'm a wizard not a warrior! Actions Firdle slashes frantically at the ruffian's weapon hand, hoping to disarm him.

Klarrrrchur moves to the rough general direction to where the Axe is. Was. Might be.With a curse he starts looking about the floor, pushing and shoving people about to look on the floor. Was it here? Had it been kicked somewhere? Scooped up by someone who whistled and sauntered away? Stifling a growl he looks around. All he can see are midriffs of sailors and pirates and the occasional barmaid. It seems (for now) the hatchet is lost. OOC 7AP for Klarrrrchur. He's on 118AP Meanwhile Will Darness, Morgan Ironwolf, Petrik the Peasant and Firdle the adequate face off against four Pirates! The pirates in turn brawl with wild abandon, throwing punches and kicks along with headbutts and attempts at biting! OOC The crunchy stuff.
Will Darness has 4D6 +8 adds this round (thanks to his beer throwing antics) Roll (if you can call it that) 1 +1 +3 +5 + 8=18 HPT no spite
Firdle the adequate proves more than adequate with his attack Roll 2d6 = 3 +3=6 DARO plus 2d6 = 6 +5=11 (17 rolled +3 adds)=20 HPT 1 Spite
Morgan Ironwolf attacks with her shortsword (4D6+12) Roll 1 +5 +3 +2 + 12=23 HPT no spite (yuck)
Maybe Petrik the peasant can redeem the PC's round... Roll 5 +3 +2=10 HPT (so much for that. Mr Average scores in an average way.)
A dismal round really. The only redeeming feature is Firdle jumping into the fight and doing surprisingly well. 71HPT and 1 Spite for the PCs.
The Pirates have 8D6 + 28 and get... 6 +3 +5 +5 +1 +5 +6 +6 + 28=65 HPT and 3 Spite.
Despite the dismal performance of the two warriors (and whatever Petrik claims to be) the PCs actually win the round... but take a few hits in return...
3 Spite damage applied to Morgan/Petrik/Will with a point each.
The Pirates take 2, 2, 1, 1 damage. The Pirate who'd run off (Jowns) would have reached the fight next round... normally. Instead he finds himself trying to fight through the crowd back to where his comrades are and may be at it some time! Will, despite having thrown a stein of beer in his foes' face is struggling until Firdle joins the fight and smacks a Pirate on the side of the head with the hilt of his dagger. He's cheered by that but takes a kick to the thigh and grunts in pain. Morgan reels from a wild blow and replies with a shocking blow to the Pirate's knee which elicits a howl. Petrik swings wildly at his foe, misses and turns, inadvertently pulling the shaft of his pitchfork up between a Pirates' legs which produces a hissing grunt! The Pirate with scrunched up face snarls "Eat this!" and thuds his forehead into Petriks' eyebrow, drawing blood. The crowd roar but sense a shift. Coins change hands. All of a sudden it's not four vs three and the four on Rathmere's side seem capable of fighting poorly and still triumphing. Still... this could go either way... OOC Round 3 coming up.
Klarrrrchur spends the round pushing through the crowd, entering the inn and pushing past people to get up the stairs. Then he spends a moment or two trying to figure out which door to check.
Make a L1SR IQ check. You learn nothing from a Str check you could do in your sleep with such a high Str score. It doesn't even register on your 'must do better' scale. If you pass the IQ test you can get to the right doorway along the landing of the Inn. There are five possible doors (3 on one side two on the others) so the IQ check success will have you getting your bearings and guessing the right door to use.
Firdle you could try to disarm the guy in front of you with a Dex L1SR and Luck L1SR (double adds this round) but failure means you disarm yourself with a dropped dagger (half adds). Your call on that. If you decide to have a go roll the Dex, Luck and 2D6 plus your halved adds (+1) or doubled adds (+6) depending on the two rolls.
Will you could try the same with your opponent with a Dex and Luck L1SR for each to double adds this round (to +8) or Fail either roll to halve your adds (to +2). Apply the adds to your 4D6 attack roll.
Petrik can barely figure out that he needs to point the pointy end at the bad guys so swings wildly.
Morgan is a no nonsense type and keeps swinging away with a "YA!" and a "Take that!" thrown in.

Will Darness Begins to think being chained to an oar doesn't sound too bad after all, but suspects he may have misheard.
Recognising his extreme good fortune on the last go-round he decides not to risk anything clever this time. He contemplates the pros and cons of dropping his sword and grappling the nearest opponent, but in the meantime...
ACTION Will makes a straightforward , but still non lethal, attack without attempting the saving rolls.
WillDarness rolls 4d6+4 = (3 +3 +6 +4) + 4 = 20 (1 spite)
OOC for the next round, thinking that grappling might permit any SR to be against Strength, reduces Will to fighting unarmed but might reduce the pirate's attack roll too?
Loving this so far btw.

OOC I made a boo-boo with Firdles' attack, mixing up one of the SR's with an attack. That's my misclick/copy/paste and I'm not running the round again (this time) so you got a free few points on your HPT last round, maybe enough to have swung the round in your favour. Not sure what happened there and it's done now so am moving on.
Sometimes there'll be rules fluffs/mess-ups. Feel free to point stuff out because I'm not infallible (and with DT&T constantly checking up on bits and pieces to make sure I apply the newer rules).
As previously mentioned any grey area or rules discussion (or in this case a copy/paste misclick) go in your favour. Firdle don't expect your Dagger to DARO ever again!
Unless I copy/paste/misclick again
Onwards!

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe sprints through the inn ignoring the shouts of "Oy!" and "Where'd ya think you're goin'?" to mount the stairs and...OOC Klarrrrchur rolls 2d6+9 = 1 +2 + 9=12 CRITICAL FAIL
There are two sets of stairs. If he came through the front then that must mean... he looks about. The oak beams and stained plastered walls (once white now more a sickly yellow/brown colour) all look the same and he isn't sure if it was the next floor or the one above nor whether it was the left or right set of stairs.
No AP for a fumble! Learning from failure is one thing, learning from abject failure only tells you that you shouldn't have bothered getting out of bed that morning. I'm sure we've all had days like that!
He spends the round trying to figure out where he needs to go and instead doesn't go anywhere (fumble)Whilst Klarrrrchur is looking about trying to suss the right way to go he hears thudding boots behind him on the wooden floor and turns. A large dark shadow fills the doorway to the common room and here hears "Ee went in that way! Little fellow! Looks like a rock, but not as good lookin!" from one of the Barmaids. Klarrrrchur has a new problem. A burly looking Uruck in beaten up (but serviceable) leather armour is patting a metal studded club that's been nailed, strapped, bound and repaired over the years from the heads it's split. "Oy." growls the Uruck. "Get back in th' common room an' cough up. This is fer patrons only, unless ya got yer chit." "Eee ain't got one!" squeals a voice from behind. "Awright Mavis." growls the tusk faced Uruck. "Keep yer 'air on. Mavis don't ferget nowt. She's like the worst woman you ever met." He finishes that sentence then mutters "An' reminds me of every wife I ever 'ad." "If she says you ain't paid, ya need ta get out." growls the Uruck. "Or else." he says, patting his club! OOC You didn't think a fumble would let you off easy did you?

Loving this so far btw. OOC If the new house rule kicks in (see HERE) you may want to try the grapple or buckle up and see what the dice bring!
We've done a few rounds now and and a Dex + Luck SR against the level of foe you face can double your adds (success on both) or half them (fail one or both).
I'm at work at the moment but I'll read up on Unarmed combat. Off the top of my head I'm thinking a straight up DARO + Str each for you and the Pirate with the winner getting +1D6 but I'll see what the rules say. Anything we use and it works can stick in the house rules section...

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
“How right you are!” States Klarrrrchur, “my sympathies, I on my way. By the way, you may have an assassin with a blowpipe trying to kill or has killed Rathmere the Ridiculous in one of yer rooms, I leave the problem to you!”
The Dwarf trundles down the stairs at full speed and rushes out side to barrage through the crowd to his new comrades...
“KHAVAD'S DOOM! Ya BASS!” Screams the Dwarf.
The Dwarf lifts one of the pirates above his head and slams him down on his spine (taking the breath out of the man) with a loud thud off the stone cobbles, he then stomps his foot on the pirate's lower abdomen (taking the breath from him even more).
Actions:
Actions of Dwarf... FIGHT, FIGHT, and more FIGHT!
Nialldubh: Eh, Combat, fists/wrestling, etc vs pirates:
Nialldubh rolls 6d6+46 = 2 +4 +1 +6 +3 +3 + 46 = 65 (1 spite)
OOC: Gee, that was a struggle...

OOC Rules as written, I think Will would get 2d6 plus his personal adds in unarmed combat. Less than normal and marginally less than a pirate can reasonably expect to score. Thinking behind the SR was to use an attribute where he has a good chance of passing the SR to immobilise the pirate and hopefully minimise any hits scored against Will. But if that sounds too cheesy (arguably he might also need to save against Dexterity or Speed to apply the hold), no worries. You're the boss apn.
On Will's current attributes he would have a less than 50/50 chance of saving on both Dex and Luck, and with his Constitution in such a parlous state a couple of lost adds might be decisive. So...

Firdle Glances nervously at Will and Petrik, thinking "We're probably not going to win this one without a lot of luck or without Klarrrrchur." Actions Tries the disarming move, dramatically swirling his robes to confuse the ruffian. "Ah Hah!!"
Firdle the Adequate: L1DEX SR [ 2d6+13 = 19 ] "Oh dear"
Firdle the Adequate: L1LK SR rolls 2d6+10 = 6 +6 + 10 22
Firdle the Adequate: DARO on LK rolls 2d6+22 = 5 +3 + 22 30 "well that was very lucky"

ROUND 3OOC I'll assume Firdle the adequate swipes with his (non DARO) weapon again. EDIT! posts crossed I shall change things as required...Buoyed by his recent success Firdle keeps swinging the butt of his knife at his foe and darting in/out when the Pirate swings in return. Will Darness considers wrestling his foe but settles for swinging the flat of his blade. Will is starting to pant... He's not in great shape but by now everyone is sweating in the tropical heat. He blanks out the roar, cheers and jeers of the crowd and swipes his sword at a knee... Morgan Ironwolf roars "Push on! We have them!" but it's more of a hopeful urging than a definite feeling. Petrik adjusts the grip on his pitchfork and shouts "Can we have a rest?" The four pirates are half drunk, half exhausted and fully sweating now like everyone else. Their movements are laboured, the gasps come in heaving breaths. Meanwhile Klarrrrchur starts to push his way through the crowd to get back to the fight. OOC I'll roll 2D6 +31 for Firdle... 1 +3 + 1=5 HPT no spite. That could have gone better. 26AP for Firdle (now 130AP)
WillDarness rolls 4d6+4 = (3 +3 +6 +4) + 4 = 20 HPT 1 spite
Morgan Ironwolf rolls 4d6+12 = 6 +1 +5 +5 + 12=29 HPT 1 Spite
Petrik rolls 3 +3 +4=10 HPT Mr Average does his thing.
PCs' total 64 HPT 2 Spite
The Pirates roll 5 +3 +5 +5 +3 +5 +2 +3 + 26=57 HPT No Spite (amazingly)
The PCs win by 7 that is split 2, 2, 2, 1 between the pirates and take no spite.

That went very well for the PCs. No spite and chip away at the Pirates but that's the end of the 'chip, chip, chip' phase. First 3 rounds and you're all staggering sweating and bruised but no real blood yet on either side.
That changes now.
In round 4 Klarrrrchur gets to break through to the fight (roll 7. Nothing learned just no fumble this time) and join in and Pirate #5 (Jowns) coincidentally gets shoved into the fray!
If you want to L1SR on Dex & Luck you double your adds if you succeed both or halve them if you fail one (or both) checks. Your call, roll for those and your resulting attack.
As per the House Rule SPITE no longer applies. 6s EXPLODE. This could get messy.
Will grunts. He's sweating freely now and drenched, his sword feels like someone attached lead weights to it. His opponent grins, then gulps and his eyes bulge. He looked like he was about to throw up for a second and he goes somewhat pale but keeps fighting. Will grins and smacks him across the head with the flat of his blade. The Pirate retaliates but misses. Morgan Ironwolf misses with her sword but delivers a stiff kick between the legs of a Pirate. He groans and grapples with her but is pushed back. Firdle is holding his own with the dagger and does just enough to ensure his side retain the advantage. His pirate is huffing and puffing and swings wildly but it doesn't connect. Petrik clonks a Pirate on the head then swings wildly again. Someone in the crowd behind cries out and the Peasant yells "SORRY!" Suddenly the crowd parts as a frustrated looking Dwarf piles in from one side and a Pirate (#5) crashes in from the other! With these two new combatants the crowd cheers and more coins change hands, more beer is swilled and more jostling takes place. OOC Round 4. You're up. Good luck!
