Will Darness Explodes into action! Tossing back his head, watching narrowly for vomit (OOC saving roll to avoid being splattered?) he summons up all the strength in his mighty thews...
ACTION - ROUND 4 WillDarness rolls 4d6+4 = (3 +4 +5 +4 )+ 4 = 20
...and does slightly worse than last time. If this continues he'll be asking Petrik for advice.

Firdle I'm really not very good at this. Oh, at last, and just in time, Klarrrrchur has decided to make an entrance! This should be over soon now. Perhaps a bit of theatre and a spell to assist... Actions Yelling "aaaa! lookout! It's Klarrrrchur the Destroyer, run for your lives lest he tears off your arms and dines on your gizzards! He has slain a thousand pirates with his bare hands. He is truly TERRIFYING!" Backs away from the ruffian before him looking horrified in the direction of Klarrrrchur's entrance.
Cast Oh Go Away [cost 5 WIZ] on the the meanest looking ruffian (but not on the one by me, as I hope my ruse will scare him off anyway).
LK+IQ+CHR for Firdle = 30

Klarrrrchur growls and sets to with his fists! Will grits his teeth and swings, determined to fight against his leaden limbs and heaving chest to flatten his piratical opponent! Firdle wails about Klarrrrchur turning up and the Pirate facing him replied "What? Oo you on about? How's 'bout this fer terrifying?" and he opens his mouth revealing a maw of brown/yellow rotten teeth! Ewwww! Firdle stifles a gag and quickly traces a hand in the air, forms an image of a rune in his mind and hisses "Oh go away" under his breath. Morgan Ironwolf laughs out loud "You fools! You are weakening and soon to be bested!" Petrik mutters "Basted? What like suckling pig? I also like chicken. Is there chicken for dinner?" The Pirate facing him frowns and mutters "What ARE you on about?" The rest of the words are lost as the roar of the crowd rises to a crescendo and the group punch, kick, butt, elbow, bite, club (with the hilt or flat of the blade) and otherwise wrestle their foe to the floor! Klarrrrchur gets stuck in, his fists smacking left and right! OOC The crunchy bits. We are on ROUND FOUR that means any Spite EXPLODES! I'll roll any exploding dice as required.
Nialldubh rolls 6d6+46 = 2 +4 +1 +6 +3 +3 + 46 = 65 (1 spite) + apn rolls 1D6 = 4. That gives 69HPT
WillDarness rolls 4d6+4 = (3 +4 +5 +4 )+ 4 = 20 HPT
Morgan Ironwolf 4d6+12=6 +6 +4 +1 + 12=29 HPT plus 2 Spite + apn rolls 2d6 = 5 +2=7. Total HPT 36
Petrik will probably roll average. Again. Apn rolls 3d6 = 3 +5 +5=13 HPT
138HPT. I confidently predict this to be a winning total. Let's see.
Firdle zaps Pirate #1 with Oh Go away. The guy goes "Arrrgh!" and turns, sprinting off! The Pirate will run off then return but the fight will be done by then.
For the Pirates apn rolls 8d6+24 = 1 +4 +1 +6 +1 +2 +4 +3 + 24=46 HPT plus 1 Spite + apn rolls 1d6 = 6 (52HPT) plus apn rolls 1d6 = 4 meaning a total of 56HPT
82 damage, 20 apiece and two take 21 each. All remaining four pirates are laid out!
No contest. The Dwarf (as we knew) tips the scales heavily, like putting an elephant on one side...
COMBAT OVER Klarrrrchur does what he does best. A pirate steps up and is about to say something but buckles doubled over, victim of a stiff fist into the groin. He drops like a hot rock! Will ducks, barges with his shoulder then brings the flat of his blade down on the Pirates' head! The guy drops like a stone! Morgan Ironwolf elbows her foe in the chin then crunches his nose with an uppercut. The Pirate staggers away clutching the ruins of his nose and falls down, rolling in agony! Petrik belts a foe over the head with his pitchfork staff and there is a CRACK!. Onlookers around the fight all go "OOOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!" really loudly and wince. Petrik breaks the sudden silence with "Ah think ah done broke ma pitchfork." Suddenly there are sharp piercing whistles across the square and the sailors/pirates/onlookers all start to scatter! From the edges of the square can be seen black leather suited Militia pouring in with heavy looking studded truncheons and mean intentions. One of them is a more heavily armoured man (despite the heat) and he's flanked by half a dozen burly guards who scour about with their eyes looking for someone to wallop. The others defer to him as he points and Militia run about, scooping up those stragglers who still swung at each other. A call rings out "Help! HELP HERE!" Everyone seems to stop and look. There are spilled beers, scattered food, stumbling onlookers and a small group of people stood over someone. "RATHMERE! It's RATHMERE! He's been SHOT!"OOC The party is stood over the downed Pirates who are being scooped up and dragged away by their crewmates who glower at the party but are careful not to antagonise anyone.
About thirty feet away is the huddle stood over the limp form of Rathmere.
Technically Klarrrrchur was only in for one round of combat but it was a decisive round that finished the fight.
DT&T 8.7 Adventure points rewards for combat pg 89 lists several methods for awarding AP.
We'll stick with method 1, quick and easy. Everyone gets the AP for contributing to the fight. That's 60 for Klarrrrchur and 72 each for Firdle and Will for being Human and getting +20%. Firdle gets 6 for the spell.

Will Darness Will's eyes dart around seeking any spilled coins he can scoop up without starting a new fight or getting arrested.
"Well done everyone. Jolly well done! We make a great team," he says heartily.
"Klarrrrchur, what did you see that made you take off like that? Is it something the militia need to know about?"
" I wonder how Rathmere's doing. Do you know any healing spells Firdle? Best make sure we don't get shot ourselves though. I've heard those tales of how snipers lure the healer into a further ambush. I wish I was wearing a full metal jacket. "
ACTIONS Hand out useful advice and inspiring platitudes whilst looking around for anything he might be able to profit from.

OOC To find anything of use in the sprawling mess that is the square make an 'open' Luck roll. This means a DARO roll plus luck and what happens depends on how high you roll with the only failure meaning you aren't lucky (as opposed to being unlucky). For instance if you roll 27 that's a L2SR made. Total 23? L1SR made and so on.
Each of you can make this check.
Klarrrrchur to find that axe you are going to need a high result as you've already failed a check to come across that.

Firdle Takes a breath and surveys the area, hands on hips, looking very pleased with himself.
"I think we did indeed give a good account of ourselves there."
"oh right - Rathmere! Unfortunately Will I have not yet studied any spells to heal or cure."
Actions Runs over to see if he can assist Rathmere in some way. Looking about to see if there is anyone about who looks pleased that Rathmere is down.

Firdle the adequate walks over to the gathered group standing around or over the prone form of Rathmere.
OOC Along the way...
Firdle | Firdle the Adequate: Luck roll 2d6+10 = 4 +2 + 10 16 Second try (human) Firdle | Firdle the Adequate rolls 2d6+10 = 2 +6 + 10 18
Failed
9 AP earned Firdle is on 217AP, Will on 193 and Klarrrrchur 178. Will update the totals in my signature when Klarrrrchur tries to find that pesky axe. He'll need a double (at the least) by my reckoning. A lesser result check may find something else that is useful.
The town square is a scene of carnage. When minor fights broke out a fair few cheap shots were thrown between crews and some are still sat, dazed, drunk or both in a puddle of what one hopes is beer but might be something else.
Will is behind and looking about on the floor for discarded gold. Unfortunately so are the local street urchins who seem to dart in from the shadows, scurry about and rush off chased by other filthy street kids.
He has to (grudgingly) admit that is a losing battle. These kids are part of organised street gangs and well versed on cleaning the streets so to speak. Anything retrieved can be sold or traded it seems.
Where they stray too close to Militia a swinging hand to cuff an urchin lashes out but its more as warning - the kids are too fast and run off, gesticulating or throwing insults as they go with half hearted militia chasing them away.
Franick of Rubla moves with his half dozen or so entourage to the downed Rathmere.
"What's all this then? Everyone knows the code. No deaths else its the rope and the nearest tree fer th' perpetrator." he growls. Scarred, chin frosted by grey stubble and deep tanned from years in the sun this man looks no nonsense despite knowing his role is a losing one. Half of the men in his command will be on the payroll of a criminal or easily swayed for a few gold but he himself holds to the code of honour that once saw him a knight.
His enemies (and there must be a few) know that to remove him might be reasonably easy but the Praetorians of Jepik will fly down upon Jepistra with the wrath of sword and sorcery they are able to muster in considerable amounts. No manner of pleading has saved previous gangs who swung en masse from the trees at towns edge.
Franick looks up to see Will, Firdle, Petrik, Morgan and Klarrrrchur. His eyes narrow, appraising, but he doesn't accuse or suspect the group of being involved in Rathmeres' fall. Yet.
"What happened?" he growls.
A man looks up from Rathmeres' side. "He's alive but ... there's a dart. Here." he said pointing to a blowgun dart in the neck of the flamboyant recruiter. "Dropped him like a stone. I was near."
"Yes you were. I'm sure, if he survives, he'd appreciate his purse returning." growls Franick.
The man pales and reaches into his shirt. "Ah yes, ah, I did that to prevent them there urchins from makin' off with it." he says, handing over a bulging belt pouch jangling with coins.
Franick opened it up, raised an eyebrow and snarled "**** off." to the man who does so like his backside was on fire. He turns to the party whilst militia men move about. A stretcher is being rolled out. "What do you know about this man and what happened to him?" growled Franick.

"Klarrrrchur, what did you see that made you take off like that? Is it something the militia need to know about?" States Will. Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:“Ah, to late,” Klarrrrchur starts stomping to Rathmere, “Aye, I saw an assassin with a blowgun aiming at Rathmere from yon window,” indicating the second story window, “I tried to distract him..., well impale him with mi axe, but missed, then Hell of Hells, I could not intercede and was waylaid before I could find the blighter, so I returned to the brawl!” Actions:Actions of Dwarf... Ascertain if Rathmere is alive, shouting for a Curer or mostly like a herbalism that would/might have an antidote for poison; most likely inflicted with a blowgun.
Also probably at Will's suggestion contact Captain Franick and explain what he saw...
Look for Axe Again: Nialldubh rolls 2d6+12 = 3 +6 + 12 = 21

OOC Klarrrrchur is still missing his axe but finds apn: find gold apn rolls 1d6 = 5gp from searching about and manages to snag it before the urchins get in.
Klarrrrchur is on 20GP and 187AP but is missing his axe (will alter character sheet and leave it on there in case it turns up...)
The Dwarf stomps over with a sour look on his face. Franick turns to gaze on the fellow and one warrior notes another with that 'sizing up' that experience fighters do to a newcomer.
Klarrrrchur explains what he saw and tried to do. Franick narrows his eyes and looks to the general direction that the dwarf points. The part of the wall that the axe struck is missing a chunk of white render.
"Sergeant Klemitz!" Franick barks.
A tall bull necked bald man in chain/leather mix jogs over. "Aye cap'n" he answers. Franick points. "Get up there. Find out what you can from that room but don't disturb anything. Make sure you note who goes in and out and if you find anything from first glance I want to know."
"Aye sir." nods the scarred veteran, taller even than Franick. Sweat runs from the bald pate which he mops with a bandana before putting back in place. "Corbell! Jakes! Garinng! With me!" barks the sergeant as he marches towards the inn without looking to see if the militia men named follow.
Franick turns to look at Rathmere. He's deathly pale and the area around the wound is purple, the veins darkening by the second. "Well?" he asks a militia man crouched over.
The man adjusts his glasses and doesn't look too useful in a fight, uncomfortable in his armour. "I don't think the pulling of the dart will trigger an uncontrollable bleed sir." he mutters. "I'm withdrawing it and I'll see what was on there if I can. To be honest... I'm more a surgeon Captain. You might need someone else. The old lady."
Franick narrows his eyes, hawking and spitting. "You lot." he says to Firdle and company. "I want names and where you're staying. Tell it to Jines here." he says with a hand wave to a militia man who fumbles for a wax tablet and stylus.
He started to march off then paused and turned. "In fact, come with me." he says and marches to the tavern.
=========
The Uruck bouncer grudgingly starts aside as the Captain leads the group into the tavern.
"Ey! You can't go back there! Patrons only! Gorrrk! Tell 'em!" screams Mavis from behind the bar.
Gorrrk the bouncer turns "Mavis! This is Capn' Franick."
"I don't care who ee thinks ee is! I ain't..." screams Mavis
"Corporal! Arrest that woman! Give her a day in the cells to cool off!" barks Franick without breaking stride as he stomps up the stairs. "If the bouncer gives you any bother drag him out, give 'im a kickin' and extra rum ration to whichever lad kicks his teeth out." adds Franick.
"Wasn't gonna give no bother." mutters Gorrrk as he melts into the shadows meekly.
At the top of the stairs a serving maid stands with keys on the landing. She looks exasperated. There are half a dozen Militia here and the party now crowding in the close heat of the dark building lit only by small windows.
"Well?" barked Franick to Sergeant Kremitz.
"We've dug through th' other rooms sir. Gettin' statements an' waitin fer some ta dress 'fore we drag 'em out fer a chat." he says with a nod to most of the rooms. To the locked door he's stood outside he growls "This one. Unlocked but barred or blocked from th' inside."
"Can I go?" asks the serving maid.
"Downstairs. JINES!" he roars.
Stood behind him Jines winces and makes himself seen. "Names, addresses, what they was doin', what they are here fer an' no one goes nowhere." he growls. "Sergeant! Get that door open." barks Franick.
The sergeant grunts and turns to the militia. "Right lads. Put yer shoulders inta it..."
OOC SAVING ROLL TIME - all of the OPEN type, no target let's see what you pass.
Klarrrrchur you can make: STRENGTH to open the door for the sarge IQ to see what's inside LK to catch something your IQ misses
Will, Firdle IQ to see what's inside LK to catch something your IQ misses

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
Cursing under his breath in Khazad, the Dwarf follows the militia captain, then in Common rumbles to himself, “lost mi axe,” but he remembers his grandfather saying, 'it only an axe, have no fear it is falls to the depths of the Khaznate Sea, just find another weapon and survive.'
Klarrrrchur scurvies the palm trees, 'ya, just cannie make a club from such wood, naw fallen branches, nuthin!' He thinks.
Actions:
Actions of Dwarf... Follow, assist, destroy. Mutter “silly woman, that'll teach ya!” Give his name to Militia, etc. Adds 5 gold to purse, "Buy another axe!" He grunts!!!
Nialldubh: For sarge in order: ST, IQ then LK: Nialldubh rolls Repeat 2 2d6 = 6 +4 6 +2 = 10; & 8,
Nialldubh rolls 2d6 = 5 +1 = 6.

Firdle Well this Franick seems VERY efficient, if a little harsh and lacking in most aspects of civility. Hopefully he is fair too, as this was not our doing at all.
As they follow Franick, Firdle asks Will and Klarrrrchur "do you think the job is still on? I didn't catch if poor Rathmere had a second who would continue it."
When they get to the barred door he looks to the militia "Er lads, you might just want to let Klarrrrchur open it, lest you break a shoulder or something. He's quite solid you know."
Actions Firdle the Adequate: LK roll, rolls 2d6+11 = 6 +6 + 11 is 23
Firdle the Adequate: DARO?
Firdle the Adequate rolls 2d6+23 = 1 +4 + 23 is 28
Firdle the Adequate: IQ roll, rolls 2d6+12 = 5 +3 + 12 is 20

“You know in the commotion, I not remember,” states Klarrrrchur, “I get hit on the head a lot, no we were near ta puttin our marks and chaos erupted. He was going to grants us ai bonus or sumthang!” Actions: Actions of Dwarf... Was that for the Sarge or Klarrrrchur, if Dwarf, the door is open.

Will Darness
Dazed and sick after his recent exertions, Will joins his comrades in looking about him. He feels fitter already despite his injuries, and hopes that luck is finally beginning to turn his way...
ACTIONS Will t ries to use his intelligence
WillDarness rolls 2d6+12 = (1 +2) + 12 = 15
No 're roll as a fumble was rolled.
Tries his luck instead
WillDarness rolls 2d6+9 = (1 +2) + 9 = 12
Stupid and unlucky. Will looks around vaguely for someone with a flashlight. "What are we doing here again?" he asks the nearest bystander.
