Will Darness Will looks along the hull to see if he can spy any convenient porthole or other aperture he might use to climb aboard. Failing that:
"I think we might have a mirror in the bag somewhere," he whisper to Klarrrrchur. "If we could fix that to one end of an oar, we might be able to take a sly look at the main deck, without exposing ourselves unduly."
OOC i.e. The old "mirror on a stick" routine

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
“Blistering barnacles Will, the prow, not the aft!”
After reaching the Sea Fox, Klarrrrchur mutters, “I cannot see too well, what's a mirror going to do?”
The Dwarf ties the magical boat to the side of the ship, “avast ye, we will storm the ship and throw any lubbers overboard fa the shark ta feast upon, har, har!”
He gives Will a torch, “light this as I spy over the ledge above!”
Pulling himself up the net rope, the Dwarf grinds his teeth together and a snarl builds from the depth of his soul to commence to hiss through his clenched teeth.
Actions:
Actions of Dwarf... As he climbs as quietly as he can, the Dwarf will be listening for any groans, footsteps, chatter, or sounds of another presence.

Will Darness Grumbling softly to himself, Will tries to figure out how to climb up the side of a ship while holding a lit torch without falling into shark infested waters or setting fire to something.
"I suppose Klarrrrchur knows what he's doing," he mumbles. "He is a sailor after all. Still, carrying a lit torch sounds like a good way to advertise our presence."
" I wonder if there's anything to eat up there? That Sonan Ie food was mighty fine, but it doesn't satisfy for long. I'd even try some of that "salty dog" everyone keeps talking about. "

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
Klarrrrchur gets a hand to near the top rail and leans down. “Pass mi the torch Will,” he whispers, “and get up here!”
“Also bring one if the boat's ropes and we can pull it out of the water later and it turn inta a small box again. That might be helpful later!”
“Well, it good to have a healthy appetite, but right noo I just concerned for mi beard and no singeing it!”

Will Darness Will does as he is asked, ties off the rope to a convenient stanchion and prepares to fight.
"What do you see, Klarrrrchur? Is it more of those mouldy characters from the warehouse? Do you think we need to break out the magic weapons and fizzy water? OOC test to make sense of the scene in front of him. Speculative roll on IQ. WillDarness rolls 2d6+12 = 5 +3 + 12 = 20

The Delvers chatter back and forth as Will pulls on the ropes draped on the side of the ship to steady the rowing boat and hooks the ropes onto the oar hooks.
With the neverending supply of rope the Delvers have its no problem to find fifteen feet or so to properly secure the small boat. Best to make sure in case its needed again but (though he doesn't know it) the shrinking magic was a one off, requiring casting again.
Klarrrrchur scales the side of the Sea Fox and peers through the rails.
It's dark now and with no lanterns lit the deck remains in shadow until the moons break free of the cloud cover. Looks to be sa... wait!
The Dwarf sees ... someone. Some... thing. It moves around on all fours like an ape though is dressed like a man, a sailor to be exact.
Pausing, the Sailor stops to pull something from the deck and bite on it.
It's an arm. Not his own but some unfortunates for sure. Cannibalism? One of the moons breaks free of the clouds and the creature snarls, looking around and up. Klarrrrchur sees dark blue/grey skin and yellow eyes. The nails have turned black as with the teeth though they are covered in gore after that bite, gore which slops down the front of the sailor and onto the deck.
Somewhere in the ship there is persistent banging and it sounds like screams or cries, and clash of weapons.
Only one on deck? Klarrrrchur feels like it shouldn't be... Ah. Another five turn up to squabble and tear at the arm! Six of them. Once human, now Ghouls!
Behind and below, Will finally lights the torch. A tinderbox in the dark on a rowing boat swaying back and forth, up and down and... He turns green at the thought of it. Best keep striking away.
There! He lights the torch!
Klarrrrchur looks down. The torch is awfully bright in the darkness! Those Ghouls will see it if Will comes up with it!
OOC I'll save the IQ check for Will. I was going to ask for one to climb up onto the Sea Fox (with Failure meaning fall back into the boat and a Fumble meaning you get eaten by Sharks and have to make a new character but given the absolute state of the rolls recently I'm happy to circumvent that kind of disaster). You climb up without needing a roll.

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
“Stand fast Will, we got trouble,” whispers Klarrrrchur, “blasted Ghouls. Seen there like once while I was wandering south of Khosht. Nasty wee blighters and it seems like they eaten half the crew, if not once one of them!”
He adjusts himself on the rope net, “Also there is combat below, we must move quick to assist those others or we be crewing a ship of the damned as Ghouls ourselves. Let's rush by these varmin and race for below deck. Our only change is to team with these others and fight for our lives!”
Actions:
Actions of Dwarf... Ready to rush...

Will Darness "I wish some people would make up their minds!" says Will to himself.
He wonders if his sword's self-adjusting properties include a setting that won't cut his lips off if he clamps it in his mouth for the climb.

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
“Now, now Will. Ebb and flow, we must move as the fates dictate. Like a leaf on the wind, we must respond to the events laid before us!”
Actions:
Actions of Dwarf... With Will beside him. Rush to the hatch/door, stairs downwards toward noise of battle. He will also take the torch and wave it in the faces of any Ghouls approaching. Blind them from its glare.

Moving as one, experienced now after only a few hard fought days alongside one another Will and his faithful protege Klarrrrchur Deathaxe climbed to the top of the rope on the side of the Sea Fox and over the rail...
The glare of the torch lit the deck up and the true horror of the half dozen ghouls tearing apart the body on the deck.
Gore splattered they were and horrific to behold! The less gore coated were clearly former sailors and it was reasonable to assume they'd all been part of the crew until recently.
Hissing and snarling the Ghouls crouched over their kill and bared their teeth like animals as Klarrrrchur and Will moved around them, weapons and torch held out.
The steel they didn't fear as much as the fire which gave them pause.
Had the body not been there to tear at and feast on both Delvers would have no doubt that they would be fighting off a horde of Ghoulish horrors!
As it was they had only minutes until the body was picked of easily edible parts. One jealously pushed entrails into its mouth and glared at the delvers whilst snarling at its fellows...
Then they were opening the door to lower decks and a quick shine of the torch reveals steps into a corridor.
More noises!
Screams! Clatter of blades! Banging on doors! Hissing! Snarling! This was truly a ship of the damned!
OOC You have a choice! The stairs go down to a north south corridor along the ship from which there are doorways with no doubt crew quarters, galley, stores and the like. Do you go towards...
Screams turn to 71 Clatter of Blades go to 16 Banging on doors yatter yatter Hissing and Snarling... and so on
Remember that there are now half a dozen Ghouls behind you on the deck above. You don't have long before they finish their meal and come looking for a new one!

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:Klarrrrchur hesitates a fraction of a heartbeat and looked at Will. Only the Gods knew the truth, but he listens to perceive the extent of the two events. Was the scream a need for help or was it too late. The clash of blades told the Dwarf that others still fought for their lives and that they should assist them. Actions:Actions of Dwarf...OOC: Eh, you get that (protégé) the right way around apn?
So, does the scream sound like someone is being eaten cos, it would be wise to rush and help those still alive. If they are savable, we might need every person to manoeuvre the ship.
Can the Dwarf tell how powerful the Ghouls are? MR 26 or 126 each. GM's choice about how much he could know...

Will Darness "I think we should try to assist that poor soul," says Will. "Perhaps our quickest way of finding out what what has occurred here. Failing that, I vote we look for the galley. If we can catch the odd ghoul unawares that would be good too, but our unknown friend's plight sounds urgent!"
ACTIONS Ready to mount a rescue attempt. Both swords ready as soon as his hands are free.

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
“Taking Will's lead, the Dwarf grunts, “I will follow!”
Actions:
Actions of Dwarf...If the sound leads them through a door, he will attempt to bolt it, jam it, etc. He has a Primitive dagger part of his equipment in my notes. So, he jams it under any door he can close on the Ghouls to keep it shut for a while.
OOC: Turn to 71.

Will Darness Will takes a moment to stare at his burly companion in amazement.
"So we're going to barricade ourselves inside a cabin? On a vessel that's overrun by monsters and very possibly sinking? After running around inside a wooden ship with a lighted torch? "
He shrugs. "You're the boss. But just for the record, I am not comfortable with that part of the plan."
He keeps moving towards the sound of the screams.
