The battered Ghouls get to their feet and try to lay a hand on the delvers!
Klarrrrchur angles himself so that they need to go through him and Will dances about the side, hacking and thrusting then stepping back as required.
This time the 'well oiled machine' of Deathaxe and Darness (or D&D) sow AND reap the whirlwind!OOC Delvers total:
W Darness 108 (13 Vorpal)
K Deathaxe 127
Ghouls (MR52 and MR76, total MR 128 with 21d6+64 adds)
apn rolls 21d6+64 = 3 +5 +4 +5 +1 +3 +1 +1 +2 +2 +6 +4 +3 +5 +3 +6 +5 +5 +2 +3 +6 + 64=139 total
Paralysis touch: 5x5 or 5x3, take ya pick really. Both totals trigger a L3Sr in Con which Klarrrrchur easily exceeds so he earns a 10 x 3AP reward (total now 161AP) for fending off those probing hands!
I'd count both but that is overkill for characters with lesser Str than Klarrrrchur brings to bear. Plus you could argue that in the quest to lay a hand on a target the Ghouls are climbing over each other. I'll have another think about it when the group of Ghouls is larger (and thus harder to fend off) but for now I'll go with the easy option. Maybe in future count all the multiples add up the LSR on Con required and Klarrrrchur reduces that SR by the amount he comes up with. Starting to get crunchy...
96 difference plus Vorpal effect apn rolls 2d6 = 3 +5=8 (now 21 vorpal) and 104 total
Ghoul #1 takes 21 Vorpal (down to 31MR) and 31 from the damage (DEAD!) whilst the other Ghoul takes 52 damage (down to 24 MR) and is dispatched a moment later by some frenzied pounding of an axe and three swords.
300AP earned (with 360 for Will with +20%)
K Deathaxe 461AP
W Darness 405AP (0/20 Wiz)
Two Ghouls are too easy. Don't expect it to remain so!
"Freyas teets." mutters a sailor under a hammock on the floor as he peers out.
The bunk room is a mess. All up the walls, across the floor, the hammocks, personal store boxes... everything looks like its been hosed down by oily black/blue entrails!
Will picks a gobbet from his hair and frowns. Klarrrrchur wipes his weapons on what he can find (a hammock) that hasn't been sprayed with ichor.
They clamber up, fear written across their faces. Three sailors with one paralysed at the other pairs feet.
"We ain't got nowt!" spluttered one.
"Ya can teck what we ain't got! We're farmers, labourers... think someone makes shoes. Jullick I think ee said is name were. Or Trevis. Meggins went down ta hold. There's others knockin' 'bout but we ain't Pirates!"
"Neither is them Kraine." muttered the other sailor as he pointed at the splattered remains of the Ghouls.
. This is Ferrick
. This on th' floor 'ere is Jalps
an' ee is... was... " the sailor gulped, covering his mouth as he sees the unfortunate sailor partly eaten "Yarbol
. Ee was a nice lad too. Was a minstrel 'fore ee got bonked on th' ead. Kept us cheerful ee did e'en wi' these monsters about."
He kicked the remains of a Ghoul. "Gets what was comin' they did. Mind, they was as bad as Pirates, not what they turned inta."
Jullick and Trevis popped their heads around the door and the sailors gave nervous nods to each other.OOC So far your 'reclaimed crew' includes:
Mentioned and out there somewhere are
"We shoulda gone ta th' 'old wi' Meggins. Lock in there, we got all th' food an' stuff we need. Let these things eat each other an' come out when th' coast is clear." said Kraine.
"Yeah." said Jullick. "The 'old."
"We should 'ead down there." said Trevis. "Ummm. Who ARE you lads? You can fight an' all. Are you takin' over th' ship? Th' Captain - he's worst o the lot - is somewhere knockin' about. Whatever did ... this..." he said referring to the change that had come over the Pirates "Is probably 'is doin' or he's even more changed. Ne'er met a blacker soul than that devil, no I ain't!"
"A black soul." muttered Jullick.
"We need ta get ta th' old. Regroup. Then come up wi' a plan." said Ferrick. "We'll bring Jalps we' us. Eee tried ta get em off Yarbol but just a touch sent 'im backwards an' ee ain't moved, even when they was eatin' poor Yarbol. All 'ee can move is 'is eyes. I 'eard o stuff like this. We 'ad a Delver in our village told tales while he was restin' up. On 'is way ta some place where there was treasure. Seemed a lot o dangerous work for a few baubles an' we never saw 'im again. Dangerous type ee were though. Big Arnie were thingy (c.ock - in Northern slang that's like 'hardest guy' Trollbridge strikes again with its interpretation of words...)
o th' village an' ee got knocked on is arse fer speakin' outta turn by this fella. You got the air o 'im 'bout you 'as you two." he said.
"Me grandad called it 'The Look o Eagles'. That look that says 'Ya mess wi' me an' you'll end up a mess'. Yeah. Just ta say, me an' th' lads want no bother or trouble."
"No trouble." said Yullick.
"We'll bring Jalps on a spare 'ammock. You lead th' way. We'll follow." said Ferrick.
"Eagles. Yeah." said Yullick.OOC Ready to go down to the 'old? If so we'll switch to the other thread High Seas Peril when I update it (shortly)...
