Buoyed by their success moments ago, the Delvers push on.Black Jack appears to have lost all confidence, the monstrous
Ogre with the huge (even bigger than the rest of him) arm is used to sweeping combatants over the side into the shark patrolled waters and the
Captain - it seems - is getting to grips with a more
Chaotic Magic.
"Cap'n!" said Black Jack. "They's got me sword an' fight like blasted devils!"
"Calm yourself Mr McMarne." replied the Captain. "I think this works like..."
He thrust a hand, the other grasping a staff, at the Pirate Vampire.
This time there was an explosion of light, and anyone looking from miles away will have witnessed a green beam lighting up a ship before it trailed away into the night as a door into the 'Chaos Dimension' of pure, raw and forbidden magic was opened!

=========
Black Jack (MR91) takes 21 Vorpal (down to MR70) leaving 129 to share out (43 each) The 43 drops him to MR27
Bosun Ogre is now MR324
The Captain takes another 43 (taken 75 damage with no magical protection)
=========
Vampire Pirate takes 93 (now on MR160)
=========There is a CRACK! then a BOOM! and rrrrrrrollllllll of THUNDER! as a powered up Take That You Fiend! rings out, 'clapping' the ears of all on board!
The Vampire Pirate, previously grinning, looks down as a neat hole in his midsection smokes and glows, neatly cauterised. Behind and above there is a hole in the sails with an orange burning tinge around it.
"Blasted Blazes!" he splutters. "I loved this shirt!" he declares as he fights like a demon, slashing with claws and moving too fast for most eyes to follow!
His Vampire cronies fight fiercely for their Captain and hope (at some point) to gain his favour with their actions.
Will battles on with controlled fury wondering how long the Death Stone effect will last. Had it worn off already? Every wound he left was blackened around the edges, the evil of the stone affecting the denizens it had birthed as much as anyone else.
Akki feels that strange drain effect but sees the Cutlass twist and turn in his hand, guiding his strikes. What wonder was this?
Udhaav attacks with daggers uncomfortably aware that a single swipe of the Ogres arm could turn him into a red mist!
The Captain cries out "Attend! Attend!" but no ghouls hear or 'attend' as they have their hands full of savage Vampires slashing at their hated skin!
The Bosun grins but that turns into a scowl as
Klarrrrchur and Will not only bat its arm away but slam weapons into it! The creature roars in pain and snarls "I'll 'ave yer fer that!" with blood red eyes!
Black Jack McMarne has seen and felt enough, and feels like the tide has turned - spectacularly - against the crew of the
Sea Fox. "Arrrgh! We be facin' Armageddon!" he cries out.
The First Mate turns and heads for the rail . "Arm 'a 'geddon outta here!" he screams and jumps overboard!
The Captain, scowling at the wounds in his chest, shoulders and arms, mutters "There'll be another time, mark my words!"
The Captain instantly vanishes into a cloud of smoke, the robes and clothes of the once Pirate collapsing onto the deck at the same time the
staff clatters down!
The Bosun finds himself alone but is still defiant. "Who's man eno' ta face me alone, eh? EH?" he roars.
The
Pirate Vampire, clutching the wound in his side, looks up into the darkness. Some unheard command, some... gesture... summons a flock of bats from the sky which transform into a gaggle of Vampires that cling, tear and rip at the Ogre which thrashes about and staggers this way and that.
The creature crashes into the rail which can't take his weight and tumbles overboard as the Vampires transform back into bats and fly up into the darkness!
As if sensing the Captain and officers of the
Sea Fox are gone, the
Ghoulish crew wail and cry out, fighting or fending off the Vampires. Some take their chances by plunging into the sea leaving bats flying off into the darkness.
Some vampires have fallen though. Bleached white bones clatter to the deck in places as the Ghouls make their mark. On the whole though the savage contest has been one sided as the Vampires overwhelm the Ghouls and finally... moments later, the last is tossed into the sea.
Huge fins - six foot high or more - circle in the water and even the
Sea Fox herself rocks as some even larger leviathan swims nearby, sending 'smaller' sharks scattering...
The Pirate Vampire sags onto a pile of canvas, clutching his wound. "Ouch." it mutters, then looks at Klarrrrchur and the Delvers. Its blood red eyes and expression are difficult to read...
The Delvers are
uncomfortably aware that the rails are lined with crouching Vampires and clouds of bats circle around the rigging high above....
OOC COMBAT OVER. YOU WON.What happens in the next few moments could well determine whether the Delvers really 'won'...
OOC Klarrrrchur and Akki 1800AP apiece. (Given less for Black Jack because he wasn't using his full abilities as you'd chopped his fingers off)
Will and Udhaav 2160 apiece (with +20% human boost)
CURRENT TOTALS:

I thought that fight would go very different in the second round but the Ogres rolls were awful, the Captain fumbled and under performed (and couldn't call on Ghouls which was the real clincher thanks to his fumble) and Black Jack despite rallying was still heavily injured from the scrap a short while ago. The first round pretty much dictated that the Pirates were doomed but rather than fight to the death they preferred to escape to fight another day, with the Captain using a Vampire like ability to transform into a gaseous mist and disperse into the night. The Ogre (what was left of him) and Black Jack (without fingers) will have to take their chances with the sharks.
Will you see any of these three again?
Who knows... Spend, Spend, Spend!*This is important!
Chaos Magic can blow any previous ideas of what magic can do out of the water, or it can blow your hands off, or anything in between! This combat is a fine example. The Captain should normally do 120 damage with a powered up Take That You Fiend! but the dice decided otherwise and significantly underperformed. Chaos Magic is no guarantee of greater success, just a possibility that something other than planned will happen...
