Will Darness Will gapes at the apparition.
"Is that normal?" he asks in consternation .
He tries to estimate speed and distance wondering if there's still time to rescue the poor soul clinging to the wreckage.

A Sailor rushed up to Klarrrrchur "Sir! You don't wan' us tae rescue tha' fella then?"
At the Dwarfs barked order the sailors rushed about, unfurling the sails and then turning to handing out the weapons that they'd sized up and put back earlier. A leather smock and a spear, cheap made cutlass, hand axe or large dagger or cosh would do. These weren't fighting men but they'd need to if they wanted any chance of surviving this!
The fellow in the Crows nest scampered down, joining the group getting handouts.
Fergal called out "Shift yer arses lads! Full sail! Have at it!"
Bort Meggins called out "Gun crews, make ready!"
Fortunately the low wind hampered the weird as well as the conventional as the strange ship turned and made her way towards the Crimson Avenger.
As the sails begin to fill and flap Fergal called out "Cap'n! You want I should put that wreck in 'tween us an' th'... whatever that is?" as the Crimson Avenger slowly started to ease forwards...
=========
Below decks Tintagel groaned and peeled himself off a bunk. Bone tired he knew that if the bell was ringing an alarm (which it was) the ship was under attack and that would mean casualties...
Coming into the corridor he leaned in as men rushed to man the guns.
"You!" he said, plucking a sailor by the arm. "Forget the guns. You're with me. Surgeons mate. I want you to gather fresh water, bandages, needle and thread and a brazier with fire glowing. Now!"
"Who're you ta order me about? Meggins is th' gaffer an' above 'im that ladies man wi' th' air an' th' Dwarf. Gerrof!"
Shaking his head as the sailor left, Tintagel pushed and squeezed his way past onto the upper deck as the sails finished being lowered. Somewhat haggard after his day in the sun Tintagel approached the Captain. "Sir, I'll need one, maybe two men to help with a surgery if we're... Ye gods! What IS that?" he spluttered, going to the rail with mouth open and looking at the oncoming 'ship'...

He tries to estimate speed and distance wondering if there's still time to rescue the poor soul clinging to the wreckage. OOC You are currently drifting slowly towards the wreck and would need to drop a life boat (which is full of ropes and sail/repair related tackle at the moment and being emptied onto the deck - gotta stash stuff somewhere...) and row towards the wreck to rescue the hardy soul whose clung to it for the best part of a day. That water doesn't look inviting. Well it does - sparkling clear for ten feet down before turning a light blue - but the dark shapes that you can see might make it less so... Probably a hundred yards or so to the wreck so at rowing speed? Five minutes I guess?

Will Darness Will flings a salute at Klarrrrchur.
"Permission to take a boat across and rescue the survivor, cap'n!" he snaps. " I'll need a man to row. Two if you can spare 'em. "

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
“Delay that order, forget the lifeboat and prepare the canon!”
“I cannie let ye go oot in that Will, plus to lower the boat we would have to be dead in the water and we need to be able to keep moving!”
“Aye Mister Fergal, ease towards the opposite side of the wreak, but give us enough time to give the ship of the damned a fatal broadside as it approaches. Then we will come about and give it the otherside!”
“Mister Tintagel, at present there is no injured, but get the cook to help you prepare!”
Actions:
Actions of Dwarf... Stomp about shouting orders...
OOC: Would not want to risk three men's lives for one. How much cloud cover is there? Lucia could whisk across and grab dying man and retrieve him to the Crimson Avenger. I not know her capabilities?

Will Darness Will looks faintly mutinous but doesn't care to contradict his Captain. Though he doubts how effective a cannonade might be against an artefact so obviously magical, he tries to assist and inspire the gun crews - though his technical knowledge of gunnery is non existent.
"Now my dears, don't be afraid. You see these iron balls? Each one contains a sleeping demon whose only purpose is to wreak havoc on our enemies. A pinch of this powder to awaken the demon, a smattering of fire to sustain him and he will fly at the foe! All we need do is point him in the right direction!"

Udhaav
Listens to the exchange between Will and his captain. The wizard knows at least much: the sea might as well be hell or heaven or another plane compared to land and the rules of survival are different. And all the choices are worse.
Quietly: "Could be a ghoul playing possum or a test by the gods."
Much louder: "Captain. Even if she can't carry him, let's ask Lucia if she can fly over a line, tie him up. Or at the very least let him know we're looking out for him--or see if he's alive. We do it now and fast."
Actions: 1. Grabs whatever looks least useful, roughly hand sized to turn into a disposable spell focus. (Piece of frayed rope? Iron something? Torn tunic shred? Broken mop handle?)

OOC Udhaav can grab a handful of nails to use as magic focii. You are all currently on full Wiz so be sure to mind how you go when using it especially as it looks like a fight is coming up!
Fergal calls out "Cap'n! She... It has th' legs on us!"
It was true. The Crimson Avenger had been slowing and the newly emerged 'ship' coming through the light mist (several hundred yards visibility and the sun poking through) was coming at the 'Avenger at a speed three or four times in comparison! The saving grace is that the oncoming ship would have to turn to fire guns so it was likely they would go to the left of the 'Avenger and pass them for a broadside before coming around.
Klarrrrchur eyed up the enemy through a telescope. That prow... like a mouth with jagged teeth. Was it... was that drool or sea spray coming from it? Also was it moving up and down occasionally or just a trick of the mist?
Will heads below deck and talks to the sailors there. Quite frankly they looked terrified!
"Sir!" asked one, wringing his cap whilst glancing out the gun portal at the oncoming ship. "Ummm, what good are cannonballs going to do 'gainst THAT?"
On the main deck Klarrrrchur sees an opportunity with their course and the enemy course to fire off a shot but the broadside from the 'Avenger is facing an oncoming vessel. Chances of hitting anything were slim to none. Waste of ammo?
Udhaav scoops a handful of nails from a bucket on the deck, used for repairs. With these he can make magic focii and increase his usefulness in a coming fight. That staff might be useful too... unless it takes control of his mind!
Will also considered Udhaav's call that he caught on the way down. The Vampire might be able to rescue the doomed sailor... but that mist was pretty thin and the sun, whilst not as fierce as earlier in the day, was still lethal to her. It would be a risk but Vampires were fearsome, magical creatures and each seemed to be slightly different in terms of abilities. Maybe she could help... but at what cost?
On deck Klarrrrchur considered his options. The newcomer had the 'legs' and was an unknown quantity. His newly won ship was just about minimum complement with a green crew and most of them shell shocked from what had happened. This might not be a fight they can win and the Crimson Avenger could be heading for a watery grave... Seeing the sails flap and roll suggested that the wind not be best in this direction. Making a run for it could be a better bet but might doom that sailor unless something could be done.
The decision he made here and now might doom them... or save them!

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
“Get us into position to broadside than hulk Mister Fergal, it would seem to mi that ship is alive and therefore can be destroyed! If we flee it will chase us to the edge of the world without exhaustion or care. We destroy it now or it destroys us!”
“Use the sloop as a merry go-round and have them chasing us fa awhile!”
“Hurl a full waterskin at that fellow (or Lucia can take it if there is cloud cover)!”

UdhaavA bit of sunlight hits his face, and he curses, reminded of the vampire's weakness. "d**n me for a fool, playing hero with others' lives." He shivers thinking of how the vampires might feel of their treating their former companion, putting her at such risk so soon and for what. [EDIT: props to nialldubh] He smiles at the captain-- that's why he gets the good looking hat and title--as the waterskin, food suggestion was his first thought. "Wine," he suggests. "Or they're boiling water below. Even if there's no time for herbs, poor soul has got to be cold..." Actions: [OOC] Does some calculations with spell costs, WIZ

Akki
Akki sees the water some distance away. It appears to be forming a... funnel? Mouth? Whatever it is, it's not a welcome sight.

Fergal spun the wheel with aid from his co-pilot, the Crimson Avenger leaning hard to the starboard as she began a slow wide circle around the wreck with the sailor clinging to it.
The Pirate 'ship' adjusted course slightly to steer straight for the 'Avenger and aim through the wreck!
"Beggin' pardon Mr Darness" said one of the sailors on the gun deck. "We ain't done this much afore. When a ship is lined up in one o them there 'oles fer th' cannon we pull th' string ta strike th' 'ammer on th' powder, I get that. Are we ta shoot when th' target is wide, or narrow? Seems we be missin a lot when they commin' straight at us is all..."
On the deck Klarrrrchur kept an eye on the oncoming ship. Despite the Crimson Avengers slow pace it meant she could turn tighter and that meant they might get one shot off but it would not catch her broadside. Plenty of shots would miss or wouldn't get a look in.
They still had a few minutes and... he glanced at the wreck to the starboard of the Crimson Avenger... it might be possible to keep the circle tight to get within a few yards of the wreck and the fellow on the hull.
Another look at that oncoming Pirate... the jaws WERE moving up and down! She might be looking to ram the 'Avenger and bite down, breaking her in the middle! Another look at the wreck... sure enough it was missing a chunk near the rear having been 'bitten' in half!
OOC Klarrrrchur IQ check apn rolls 2d6+16 = 2 +4 + 16=22
L1 Pass - Klarrrrchur can't see any dark shapes in the water - sharks - which is odd.
Udhaav sees the oncoming ship. Might a Take That You Fiend! be effective against such a thing that is not alive, nor dead?
OOC How many Hocus Focus are you casting? L1 spell so you cast for 4 Wiz. You're on 21 Wiz.
Below decks Will paces about, crouching and looking through each cannons portal.
OOC Make an IQ check. Higher the better (open ended). You can also make a Luck check but it will FAIL unless its two or more levels higher than the IQ check. I can imagine that Cannons are all about angles and the dip/rise of ships and most shots would miss unless you came alongside and blasted point blank. You might see a shot in one of the portals and grab the string to fire with the right angle. Or just get lucky.
Akki sees the oncoming 'ship' which appears to have risen from the depths (OOC judging by the post you have missed a few posts?) which is now oncoming, making to ram as the Crimson Avenger slowly picks up speed and moves in a circle around the wreck in the water. The Sailor clinging to the hull of that wreck is coming into view more now.
The fellow appears to be wearing layered armour, painted deep red and in the style of the Sonan Ie warrior knights (OOC Samurai). The armour looks... broken. Bloated. Presumably because its made of layers of paper and intricately attached to create an aesthetically pleasing but somewhat impractical form of protection when exposed to water. The fellow is clung on with one hand to the crest of the hull and the other hangs limp.
The Crimson Avenger is curling in a tight circle which widens slightly as she picks up speed. There might be one chance for someone to tie rope around their waist and jump over to the stricken ship, though there may be some swimming involved.
With sharks in the water that might be an issue...

OOC Everyone make a separate Luck check (separate from the one you are making houndle for the gun shot).
The highest check will count, so hope for those DAROs!

Will Darness
"Lay each gun individually as the enemy comes to bear, lads." OOC I believe that would be the technique to use. Properly aimed such a broadside would be devastating as the balls would travel the length of the ship, hence why a fleet would attempt to "cross the T". Of course Will knows nothing of this.
WillDarness: IQ check WillDarness rolls 2d6+15 = 4 +2 + 15 = 21 Level 1
Not sure if this is and/ or, so...
WillDarness: Luck check WillDarness rolls 2d6+27 = 4 +6 + 27 = 37 Level 4

Klarrrrchur Deathaxe:
“I think water will do just fine, he obviously dehydrating, water will be best Master Wizard!” The Dwarf paused, then turned to the wizard, “do you know any spell to cripple their rudder?!”
“There is no sharks in the water, anyone want to go for a swim and help the poor fellow?!”
