November is National Novel Writing Month. All my friends are doing it, as they say, so I ended up doing it too. The assignment is to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. The easiest way to do this is to write what's on my mind.
What's on my mind, you may ask? Well, it appears to be Tunnels & Trolls. The novel takes place in Trollworld and the main characters are trolls.
Nothing will ever come of this novel. At the end of November, I will bury the horridly-written thing and never look at it again. But for now, it consumes my consciousness and gets proudly touted on the NaNoWriMo website and Livejournal. Two internet communities full of roleplayers and other sorts of creative people! My NaNo page just has an excerpt of my novel so far, but I plan to add a preface explaining T&T and Trollhalla.
Oh, here's the fun part. You're all in it. Well, not quite everyone, but I'm in such a rush to write that I don't have time to sit around making up new names. So I'm 'borrowing' them from Trollhalla. Mahrundl, Skaat, and Kh'naavv feature heavily so far.
The characters themselves don't represent the trollhalla members they're named after. Any similarity is purely coincidental (aside from the fact that I've been interacting with you and might have gotten some sense of what you're like). But the names are shamelessly ripped off. *grin*
If anyone objects to this, let me know and I'll edit your name out immediately. I'll replace all names with names of my own invention at the end, unless anyone wants me to keep them.
What I need from Trollhalla folk are two things - first, I don't know the universe inside and out, so I may need help with the items, kindred, places, flora, fauna, etc. I won't have time to do any proper research - 1,750 words per day is a lot! But getting some of the flavor right would be cool.
Secondly, I'm no marketing genius. I've already determined that I can use this to throw the name 'Tunnels & Trolls' out in places where interested people might hear it. Which sounds great, but I haven't thought it through beyond that. I could use a little guidance. I don't know what kind of guidance.

The website is having issues right now, so I can't view my profile page, but my username is hai-kah-uhk.
