My local stores has a second hand copy of this venerable solo for $7.00 AU.
I used to own it once upon a time but can't remember a thing about it.
Is it worth picking up? How would you rate it out of 10?

IMHO 'Naked Doom' is a classic. It's solo number 4 and was written by Ken. You start off with nothing, having been arrested in Khazan, and you are cast into a dungeon, called The Royal Khazan Gauntlet of Criminal Retribution, to survive and escape. It's an early one but you should pick it up nevertheless! But beware, it's tough! Out of 10, I would give it 7. A classic

I couldn't resist! It's a copy of the second printing updated for the 5th edition printed in 1980! It's in excellent condition. I'm chuffed!

Good on ya! Don't take anyone that you are too attached to through it on your first couple of tries, that's my advice! More advice is always buy T&T material wherever you find it

I've run 103 characters through Naked Doom over the years. My "House Rule" for solos is to not repeat an option until all options have been chosen once, and let the dice fall as they may.
9 have survived.
and without spoiling upcoming events for hogscape...the troll is the easy part.

I'm keeping a tally! 9 out of 103 comes close to the 9-out-of-10 kills Ken mentions in the intro. Ouch. The dungeon certainly has a lot of atomphere. It doesn't seem dated considering my copy was printed 26 years ago! I guess T&T holds its value better than most.
I'm just going to roll up another poor sap right now!

If you do manage to get a character out alive, they can become very powerful and leave with a ton of weapons!

I got the pdf from Drivethru. I've now run 10 characters through. One beat the rock troll but died in the cavern with the three pools. One passed out in the cavern and got killed by a wanddering monster. The other 8 didn't get round the first corner.
So my stats are
80% die before the corner 20% die after the corner 0% survive
Early days I know, just wondering howe this compares with other folks.

Well character number 11 escaped to Deathtrap Equalizer Dungeon and then safety. Makes the percentages as follows.
73% die before the corner 18% die after the corner 9% escape with their lives

I like Naked Doom but I think it screams for a re-write...there were many instances in which you really had no chance at survival because you'd get into straight up fights at which you had no chance of winning. I'd like to see options allowing you to run bravely for your life at the very least.

Man, this was a great one. You know from the start that you're probably screwed, but you just use freshly-generated characters anyway, so no big loss. ;D
If you're doing well you really root for your character. If he survives you've probably got a powerhouse.
Plus, Ken St. Andrew provides a nice atmosphere, establishing that your character is a criminal, worthless to society. Who can forget "Run, dog!" You want to show them what's what. It's not like what you did was so bad anyway - that grandma didn't have much money in her purse. ;D
One other thing...You can use Naked Doom as a threat in other adventures. You can tell your players, "You know if you're caught committing this crime you'll be sent to Naked Doom!" (Same goes for Arena of Khazan.) Which, even though it gives them a chance for survival, somehow seems more threatening then ending their lives with, "You're in jail forever. Roll up a new character."
