On RadioFreeTrollworld (yahoogroups.com) Rick Loomis said:
Flying Buffalo would be happy to host a T&T convention here in Scottsdale, should more than 2 or 3 fans want to participate. It would probably be best held in the summer -- in the winter hotels and convention centers in the area get very expensive. But presumably you'd all be staying indoors all weekend, playing RPGs, so the 110 degree heat outside won't bother anyone.
Who might come? What would you expect to do, in addition to playing T&T with Ken, and perhaps having dinner one night with various local Phoenix celebrities (we'd invite Mike Stackpole, Bear Peters, and others. No telling who'd be able to come.) Rick
And then he said:
We'd have to pick the appropriate weekend of course. June 26-29 is unavailable as I will be at Origins. August 14-17 is likewise Gencon. And Memorial Day and Labor Day are out because of California conventions I always attend. The Flying Buffalo pbm convention is planned for Aug 1-3, but that wouldn't necessarily be a problem. Lately only 4 or 5 people attend that. I think I could run them both at the same time if that were a good weekend. Rick
Sooooo....who's in?

I'm interested if the conditions are right and I can convince the trollwife that I deserve a break from mundanity for a while.

Sure - if someone can pick up the cost of the airfare...
(I just checked, and there wouldn't be much change from $3000. Not something that I can justify, alas!)

Well that would make two of us khaydhaik. I think it would be fun. I'll have to check my email to see if anyone has expressed interest.

Wow! Where would you be coming from? Little island down south, known as Australia...

Little island down south, known as Australia... What city are you in?

Out of curiosity, is there any reason that you assume that I live in a city?

I *might* be interested in such a thing. I can only attend one convention each year, at most, due to scheduling and budget, and my brother and I are talking about maybe doing Origins again in 2008. If that doesn't happen, though, then I may be available, and then cost (not convention fee, but total travel cost) would be the deciding factor.

Austrialia? Sweet! I've always wanted to visit. But you know, that *is* $3000 away from here, so I'll probably just keep dreaming.
Seems like this convention thing is just about a 'sure thing' for August 1-3, 2008. I'm thinking that within a week there will be more concrete details. I'm quite excited!

In the original post, Rick had asked what people would want to do other than meet the local luminaries and play T&T. To attempt to answer that question, I wouldn't mind at all playing some other FBI games. Nuclear War/Escalation/etc. can be lots of fun, for example, and FBI sells a fair number of the Lost Worlds books. I have also never played MSPE, and would be interested in getting a chance to try that out. What would really get me excited about the convention, though, would be if we could actually get Mike Stackpole to run or play in a game. I've been a fan of his work (RPG, fiction, etc.) for years, and would really enjoy playing a game with him.

I grew up in assorted country towns, and it sometimes seems like a lot of people don't realise that there is anything outside of the State capitals... I'm actually in Adelaide.
