Finally... There's blood on the keyboard but level 2 is finished! As before I have not yet ran my editing eye over the text - I'll get around to that shortly.In the passageways of level 2 you can expect to meet the following grim and blood thirsty characters!
• Smudgebrow the Orc: The only thing he likes less than the undead is living delvers!
• Gorovan san Guldûr, undead ‘collector’: “It’s not easy being dead, that’s why I need your legs.”
• Omrond san Vormand, undead and loving it!
• Loritana of Moritan’s Marauders: “Open the chest and give me all the treasure, you know it makes sense. Don’t’ worry about the traps; you’ll be fine.”
• Halfgone the Troll: “Now you see me, now I hit you.”
• Vulkar Hookclaw, half orc, half ogre, all nasty
• Spittooth the Shaman: “Pull out his claws, peel off the skin, open his scalp, oh where to begin, so much time and so little blood.”
• The Bone Horror: Takes six decaying corpses, pull them apart then stick them back together in the shape of a six-headed skeletal scorpion.
• The Ghost Knight: “None shall pass!”
• Lucas, yet another undead critter: “Oh, what a feeling, dancing on the ceiling!”
• Magratatta – Queen of the Spiders.
• The Mad Duke (he’s just mad, alright)?
On this level, the delvers will encounter Skolari for the first time (okay, they're dead Skolari but still pretty nimble) and have a chance to reunite two star-crossed lovers (each with 8 hairy legs).
This should be a real blast from the past for older role-players; remember the days when a game would grind to a hault as the players felt the need to quote extensively from Monty Python and the Holy Grail? This time they get APs for doing it!
This level focuses mostly on cunning combats and role-playing; all of the major encounters can be talked through, throught through or fought through! There is really only one real 'puzzel' and it's pretty easy to crack plus you only need to attempt the puzzel room if you want to continue your adventures on level 3!
I'm taking a short break before continuing with level three (The Labs, where the Skolari are still alive) to detail the nearby village of Millet's Crossing. There's a dungeon for neophytes hidden beneath the Trolls Trove Tavern!
