I've done gaunt before! And hairless... well... the Wing-worm is hairless, but he's not mammalian either, so that's why. 
Gaunt, grey-skinned, nearly hairless... your guys aren't Grays, are they? They can't be; Elleg has black hair, and you haven't mentioned bulbous eyes. But it would be amusing if they were. (The NCU's arch-enemies are the Grays, although 'competitors' might be a better word because they're not mortal enemies; they just don't appear in my story except in passing mentions.)
