Hello. I'm old fart who recently got back into gaming. Introduced my wife to the hobby and what better way to start someone off than TnT? We have been playing for a few months now using house ruled Deluxe. Figured I'd join up here and babble about various TnT topics and thoughts. Maybe get some ideas or provide a few.

Welcome japanoise, you sound like a renaissance gamer. I hope you have fun here. My brother left the Uk to go to the USA, and is happy in his life there.
If you have not already acquired Trollszines 1-10 , I urge you to run, not walk to the nearest emporium.

Welcome trollphan. My wife also started playing RPGs with T&T after many years of not seeing what the point was of my gaming, she got the bug. Look forward to reading your ideas and I hope you have a good time here. You know where else you can find good ideas? In the pages of the inestimable (and free!) Trollszine

Hello, I've been a long time rpg gamer (paper, not digital) though I took a long break. I began with MERP, played it very wrong for 2 years, had a blast, and was hooked. I did not play T&T back in the day (but I think I must have played one or two solos somehow, the Metagame app has some that seem very familiar). Anyway, someone suggested T&T would make for a good Earthsea game and that has caused me to go digging. I really like the game so here I am. I run a regular BX game (that Other Game '81) and occasionally others.

Hello kingofelfland , welcome to the Bridge. MERP is great fun, spent many years in it's world. Glad you are enjoying T&T , it is very versatile. If you haven't already checked out Trollszine, do pick them up - worth every penny (still free!)
I look forward to your contributions. I hope you have fun here.

Hi all!
Having two kids, I want them to grow up to become good people, in other words, play RPG’s :-) I was introduced into RPG’s in the late 90’s using T&T 5e. After a few years I played a short lived AD&D (1e) campaign. And after a long while (work, getting married, kids, life, basically) I decided to rekindle my love for RPG’s by finding a group to play with. Dispite us playing D&D 5E it’s still a lot of fun, fun I’d like to share with my kids. (Just not D&D. Not very passionate about this edition). I bought the 7.5 T&T rules (because I like the small size format (I printed the PDF) and don’t really care for much of the bulk in the dT&T book). After playing around with different combat systems, my kids are getting to an age where they don’t struggle as much with counting dice as they did, so we’ve just gone RAW last month (Well, kinda RAW. I still decide tons of stuff as I see fit on the fly anyway). I was wondering about how other people resolve certain things (7.5 is great, but the text is fairly unclear at certain points), so I thought I’d join this board to see if I can get a few thing cleared up! (If the search function lets me down :-) )
See you around! Thomas

Welcome thomas78 to the Trollbridge. I have no doubt you'll find everything you need to hone your T&T knowledge here and if you cannot find it, just ask. There's bound to be someone who has had the same query and come up with an answer here somewhere.

Welcome thomas78. I hope you have a great time at the Bridge. Ask away, we love answering questions here, and the best thing is you will end up with several different options to choose from Also, Trollszine, free, about to have 10 issues, and packed with stuff of great value to the aspiring T&Ter. Check it out

Welcome, thomas78! Yes, the rules are often unclear on specifics (in every edition). That is both a bug - if you are trying to work out the 'correct' way to adjudicate something - and a feature - because sometimes that lack of specificity is the most freeing thing in the world. It's particularly a feature where kids are involved, because kids can come up with such crazy ideas that no game designer would be able to cover all of the bases. So why not leave it open to the GM on the spot? As long as you're fair and consistent, and everyone has fun, is there really a wrong answer? For examples of how powerful the lack of specifics can be, look for posts by order99 and devadasi describing sessions that they have run. There are many other great examples from other posters, but in my opinion those two are brilliant in that context. Fairly obviously, I'm a fan of the rules being more of a guide or framework. Once I got them out of the mindset of the more rules-heavy system that we'd been playing previously, my players have had far more enjoyment from me taking their character actions and running with them than if there had been a predefined answer to everything. Sure, sometimes I run off of a cliff - but mostly I just keep running until I reach solid ground again.
