Skaat, I'm as far from a military man as they come, but you get my respect anyhow. I have many opinions of war but here is not the place to discuss them, nor will it ever be. It's good to have you amongst our number The guy who was my best man at my wedding was in the Royal Marines. We met some years ago when we both worked for the same large company. We were paired to work together one fateful day, and realised that we both shared a love for painting fantasy miniatures. That was about 17 years ago, or thereabouts, and we are still good friends. I am pleased to say that I introduced him to T&T and we had many a good game together. In fact, his eldest son, whom I have watched grow-up, is 17 today, and goes into the British Army on Monday. It doesn't seem 2 minutes since he also took an interest in painting miniatures, although he never got into RPG. Sorry, I know none of that is relavent to anyone, I just thought I'd share it!

Boozer,
Thanks for the kind words. I've been in 21 years, and have worked with several Brits (individuals and ships) over the years. When you are a thousand miles from nowhere, and the nearest U.S. flag is the merchant ship you passed five days ago, it's comforting to know there is a Brit or Aussie ship around to watch your back.
I'm second-generation Navy; my father is a retired Chief Petty Officer. Some of my earliest childhood memories involve ships.
The military is not for everyone, and I've never thought less of anyone who did not serve, with two exceptions: Politicians who have never served and deride what we do out of their ignorance, and civilians who take for granted the liberites we guarantee.
As for the war, I never was one for revisionist history. As Forest Gump would say, "That's all I got to say about that."
Please pass on to your friend's son "Fair Winds and Godspeed", from CDR John Scott Chisholm, USN. I wish him a safe and successful tour of service.
Regards,
Skaat

hi, i'm branderwydd. just joined yesterday after a tip-off from boozer quite a while ago.
i've been gaming since 1981 and playing T&T since '82. we've been playing in the same campaign world since '86 (rhalph) and we have one final adventure before we wrap up that campaign world forever. next i'm starting two new campaigns - one based in lejentia, and the other based in an interplanar city i've created that will focus on the PCs traveling to different planes/worlds (kind of moorcock inspired). i also like bloodbowl.
like some others, i was in the military - LRSD in south korea. we were the only airborne troops there at the time, attached to a military intelligence battalion.
i'm currently working on my master's thesis and work as a teacher of the deaf with emotionally disturbed deaf children.
we game about every two weeks (with a good sized group [8], that is actually made up mostly of females [only 3 men!]). i also have an online game running using 7e rules based in lejentia.
i have four sons (7,5,3,1). the oldest two are eager to join the group (they play in special games for them at times). they already have gamer minds, having been groomed from birth..... . the oldest designed a really neat, fully described castle with monsters, magic and traps (sans any game mechanics), with a detailed map at the age of 4. i'm biased, of course, but it was better than much of the crap i've seen designed by mature gamers

Hello, new guy here! I just recently got into T&Tfollowing a tip on one of the Out of Print D&D/AD&D boards. I'm a huge fan of old school (D&D/AD&D, Hackmaster, Castles & Crusades, and now T&T) gaming. I did the 3E thing for a while (a month or so) when i decided it simply wasn't for me. I've been gaming with the same bunch of fellows since 1980, we were all kids living in the same area back then, now we're all 30somthingers! Our main game has always been Basic/Expert D&D, which then switched to the Rules Cyclopedia (RC).During that time, we would foray into other games as a break from the main game. (RQ, WH, RM,Palladium FRP, Talislanta, Middle Earth RPG, and others too numerous to mention), but for some reason, T&T passed us by. I decided to rectify this when hearing the news that Fiery Dragon was putting out v.7E. So far,i am completely enthralled by the game! I'm usually found on Dragonsfoot (devoted to old school, out of print AD&D), or at the Keeper's Den (my forums dedicated to TLG's Castles & Crusades).Otherwise, i'm busy trying to get my C&C e-zine off the ground. Oh yeah, and i also manage to squeeze in both a full-time job and a part time job (my wife and i are new home owners...time to make money). I also run a C&C Chat based game, and try to play Heroscape as much as possible.
Well...that's me in a nut-shell;)

Welcome to our band Skathros Good to hear that other forums are mentioning T&T again. I'm the same, my buddies have been my gaming partners since the 80s, but now we are, er, forty-somethings or there abouts! Hardly any RPG these days, but I still find time to write new material for my site and contribute to Ken St Andre's Trollhalla. I hope you enjoy getting into the glorious world of [glow=gold,2,300]Tunnels & Trolls![/glow] ;D

Having recently received the tip off about this forum from skathros on Dragonsfoot.org, I thought I'd also introduce myself. I'm relatively new to T&T, having learned more about the game than the basics only in the last couple of years. Indeed, the 30th Anniversary tin that I picked up a month or two ago was my first T&T purchase. While that product certainly has its rough spots and has need for some errata/house ruling (the primary reason I'm here), the underlying rules really inspired me and I've quite enjoyed the usage I've gotten out of it to date. As a gamer, I've been active for over twenty years. My first RPG was the Moldvay/Cook edition of D&D, which I still hold to be one of my favorites. I've played a large number of games since, and own dozens more. The publishers most represented in my collection are Palladium and TSR. Asides from the T&T tin, my last three purchases have been the Iron Gauntlets softcover, a pair of modules for Castles & Crusades, and Cartoon Action Hour. I've done a small amount of freelance work in the industry and continue to do so, though I don't let that cut into my actual gaming time. I am also very interested in the implications of technology upon RPGs (and media, arts, & sciences in general), especially with regard to intellectual property. I suppose that covers the basics. Thanks for making this forum available. I look forward to discussion in the future.

Chello!
My name is Anthony. I've been playing rpgs since 1982....my first was Gamma World. The last time I played T&T was in the Army (88-90).
I currently run a Hackmaster game with my wife, 2 of my daughters, and 2 friends. I pre-ordered T&T 5.5 and had to wait...what, 2 years for it. lol
Glad to find this board.
Later,
Tony

Greetings all!
I have also come to this board via Dragonsfoot and am really impressed with the materials and discussions found here! I've been a T&Ter for a few years and enjoy it immensely. My favorite T&T memory so far has to be playing in a game with Mike Stackpole back in 2000 at GenCon. That was a cool game! I look forward to chatting with you all about T&T, as well as Monsters!Monsters!

Hi carjack. Good to have you on board So tell us, what is Mike Stackpole like? He reviewed some of my T&T stuff back in the 80s and his letters were quite interesting!

Hi carjack. Good to have you on board So tell us, what is Mike Stackpole like? He reviewed some of my T&T stuff back in the 80s and his letters were quite interesting! He was (and no doubt still is) a very nice guy, and ran a really fun game off the top of his head. We escaped from prison and fought monsters in a lush metropolis' sewers, and soon afterwards got caught up in a war between two magically cursed crime bosses. The age range at that table was what impressed me the most. There were players there that ranged from 70 down to around 12. Lots of fun. If you get a chance to game with Mr. Stackpole, I'd recommend it highly!

Hi! it says over there at the right... err left that my name is Snowberrry so lets go with that one . My "normal" name is Syl, I live in Western Australia with my husband (Gnarrr'l) and our daughter Jellybeans. I am an old RP'er from IRC - which is where I met my husband actually. I used to hang out in a chat room with a bunch of D&Ders and in an FFRPG room with an ongoing storyline. One day the two rooms decided to have a tournament and suddenly the plans for it were dropped into my lap and we had to roll up stats for the freeform RPers. I had no clue how to do it6 and my (now) hubby stepped up and walked me through it. Eventually I got together with some folks who spent one wild weekend on a very long D&D adventure wherein my character was blown up, nearly killed twice, and had a sex change - oh and leveled up like crazy. That was the first and last time I played D&D. When Gnarrr'l and I met in person (2 years later) - he introduced me to T&T and I found I liked it much better. I currently have 2 living characters besides this one. I love forums too - now that I understand how they work. I moderate a couple for an online web based strategy game that has nothing to do with RPG's. my favourite colour is purple.

Quoghmyre The Southern Most Troll
If it was left to Quoghmyre to write this you would be holding a large rough parchment with Q is BiG Srong Tol scrawled across it in blood. Probably mine.
It is safe to say that Quoghmyre is one of the strongest trolls in Trollhalla. Safer to say he is the strongest. Quoghmyre is a large Troll, strong but ageing. A swamp troll emerging from the wetlands at the headwaters of the Rangitiki river, he is very large and very strong.
Quoghmyre is one of the Elite Trollhalla Trolls. He has fought many wars leading shock and awe attack crews into battle. He loves to follow orders that are simple and clearly explained. He will always be found in the thick of the battle or battering down a nearby wall or door. Quoghmyre is very good at siege battles and slow advances where his size and strength can be put to good use.
Quoghmyre is surprisingly lucky, and has been the only survivor of many battles. He often wins at cards or other gambling sports in much the same manner. Quoghmyre is very good at detecting traps, unlocking doors and finding secret doors. This he does with his large fists. He is also very handy when crossing cracks or moats as he can easily span 6 meters, and his rugged exterior has many good hand holds.
This great troll wastes very little time on thinking or prayer. He has no interest in magic beyond a healthy respect for the TTYF. He has an undervalued wizard, Kaveman the mighty illusionist, who toils endlessly making amusements for the mighty troll and his Trollgod. The Goddess Gortex of LoGD, favours Quoghmyre. He does not wait around while weaker folk talk. Talking and thinking won't slow this experienced battle troll as he quickly strikes out at the nearest foe.
With the charisma of a large (strong) boulder, he commands a following of 2 and while he may not raise a small army, he alone qualifies as a small army. Throughout his realm and many others there are millions of creature kind who would rally and march to war, lead by the banner of The Southern Most Troll. His concern for Trollhalla and the last of the Troll Elite is his only known weakness.
Quoghmyre's current home is high in the Southern Alps on an island in the Southern Seas, and his realm now spans his entire known world. He pays Tolltax only to Trollhalla.
Quoghmyre shares his domain with his Trollwife, Morass and youngest son Rock and youngest daughter Boo. With these close at hand Quoghmyre is ready and on standby to go to war. He often starts small skirmishes to keep battle ready. Quoghmyre often worries that Rock might end up a paladin or that Boo's intelligence and articulation will lead her to the dark arts her mother is so steeped in. Quoghmyre maintains good professional relationships with his followers. Both his wizard, Kaveman and his Goddess minion Gortex serve him quickly and obediently.
Quoghmyre is a good team player with no political or personal agenda. While he likes to be in the army that's the biggest he does not let that stand in his way. He has fought for all the leading armies over the last 8 centuries, both good and bad, he enjoys both rabble rousing and marching up and down. He is especial suited to body guard and gate guarding duties. On the smaller scale, Quoghmyre is very handy to have in a band of adventures who go underground to kill, steal and generally cause mayhem. Quoghmyre has an excellent record when holding the party treasure and has never once failed to carry it safely to the surface. Quoghmyre likes gems and shiny stones. He is not afraid to use battle enhancing substances and will gladly crunch a large emerald before going into battle.
Quoghmyre uses many battle cries. His favourites include, "Here I come", "Out of my way" and "Heads up". In the battle it helps to clearly mark the foe with a large red X. Without an emerald he will often see the red of battle rage. This fury can be enhanced with the use of large rubies.
Now with the upcoming apocalypse almost upon us, Quoghmyre is still undecided, will he fight for the side of right that will win the day against all odds, or for the guy with the largest army. We all wait. We look to Trollhalla and the leadership of the Trollgod.
So "Out of my way" here comes Quoghmyre the Southern Most Troll.
