Hogscape, I also only ever used STR for powering spells. It just seemed right, somehow, even if you ended up with wizards who could lift the corpse of the dragon they just blasted.

A belated hi to all the newer guy's, and Hogscape we also had no trouble using STR to power spells. That opened to door to all sorts of different "types" of Stats included with-in a stat value. A Warriors LK was different from the Rougue's LK, Each type had different types of DEX also.

Rouges luck was used for finding traps, picking locks, drawing the right card from a deck and the like. A Warrior or Wiz no matter how lucky never really got the hang of these things. The Warrior used his Luck in combat, detecting ambush, finding safe camping spots, tracking. Whereas the Wiz maybe lucking in finding the right herbs or luck into solving a riddle. A Warrior could have a go at detecting a trap or picking a lock, but the level would be considerably higher, likewise a Wizard could check for a good camping place but the SR would be higher, this reflected the difference in the "type" of luck required. A Wizards high IQ was more learning, the Rouges more cannier or streetwise and Warrior more strategic. I hope is explains it, it worked a lot better than I've explained. The party finds an old book, even if the R has a higher IQ the Wiz would check it out, or an fragment of a Map the the Wiz would hand it over to the Warrior to fathom where it may be and how best to get there.
This could also be applied to Kindreds but we didn't differentiate between the races as much. There were far to many Dwarfish Warriors with B&B G&G Steel Cap and Falchions as it was.

That sounds excellent Quogh. You're talking in past tense though... You don't use that system any more?

Hi All,
I first played T&T back in 87, but I had not played it for years until I picked up 7th edition. It had peaked my curiosity after getting back into rpg's with Traveller.
I have played quite a few games since then and I ordered everything I could get from flying buffalo to supplement our games.
In the year we have been playing we found we dumped alot of the rules and replaced them with our own home rules. I guess I am here to find out some new variations and bounce some ideas around with other gamers.
best regards
Dalton

Welcome Dalton!
There's lots to see here. Plenty of interesting discussions and new ideas.
Post some of your house rules, if you would. People here like discussing them and the reasons they were added.

Ok, where should I post them? I have a complete fantasy world, different dice roll conventions, different racial abilities charts, different talent charts - in other words, alot of stuff.
best regards

Start with whatever you like. Perhaps not the world specifications, since that's probably the largest chunk. Pick something that you're especially proud of, or something that's good for a laugh perhaps. Alternatively, as you read through the messages here, you could just post to any threads where you have something relevent. Your call. It's all new for us...

Having recently received the tip off about this forum from skathros on Dragonsfoot.org, I thought I'd also introduce myself... You too Huh Hellooo... All Been playing since I got 1E D&D way back when and remember looking at TnT, but never bothered (silly me). Mr Skathros runs a TnT game at DF in Chat and I had to give it a shot, and discovered what a blast it was... So I wandered over here to keep track of all the fun

I'm french and 33 years old. I play Rpgs since 1985, started with games like D&D basic, AD&D 1 ,CoC, Rolemaster, Chivalry & Sorcery, DragonQuest, etc... I'm currently gamemastering : - T&T 5.5 - HARP (ICE) in Hârnworld - Gurps 4 I'm also a roguelike's fanatic. You can find the java roguelike i'm making here => cryptmaster.free.fr/IMHO , T&T is the most roguelikish p&p rpg ever and that's enough to make me addict to it. edit: I've bought the 7th edition but i think i will wait a complete 7.1th or 8th manual before switching from the old 5th.
