Welcome gamepunk26!
Hopefully you have also noticed the T&T Convention that will be happening next year.
So save up for a nice vacation to Arizona, Aug 1-3. It'll be a great opportunity to meet Ken, Liz, and Rick and game with a bunch of T&T fans.

CONQuest will be happening in Las Vegas in March 2008. Rick Loomis will be there and I have been asked by the con organizer to run T&T. I played in a game Rick ran at Strategicon. Maybe Rick will play in my game. Just the though of it has me all worked up. As far as I know T&T is the only RPG scheduled.
I am going to contact FBI for some prize support, but should I contact "that company" as well?

It cannot hurt. James ("that company") might through something as a prize if asked. It never hurts to ask

Heya Gamepunk26!
Welcome! And have you found the plethora of T&T links? Trollhalla, OutlawPress, Hobgoblin's Tavern, RadiofreeTrollworld, etc, etc? Very good for invigorating the spirit.
And yes, don't miss the convention!

Good morning/evening/late afternoon/dark night of the soul!
I've been gaming since about 1975 or so, and I really feel like an idiot that I gave T&T a miss all those years ago. That Other Alliterative Game was my choice, and the T&T rulebook - well, it was so THIN, and hardly had ANYTHING. (And quite frankly, kind of expensive, given my finances as a teenager). (And there was that snarky review in The Complete Book of Wargames, the one that mentioned the "tacky" spell names.)
Well, I still love That Other Game, but I've discovered T&T has its own charm. Weird weapons and a simple but robust system, and things like using only d6s and monsters as PCs that certain other systems pretend to be recent innovations. And all those kewl solos I could have used back in the day!

Welcome. I am a noob myself, but have turned into an obsessive T&T head. Viva T&T!

Been roleplaying since 1979, when i turned up at the school wargames club and found all these people playing D&D. Got into this strange world and loved it. Picked up T&T 5e and Naked Doom from the Games Centre in Hanway St, London (anyone else remember that?) and played T&T solos in spare moments since then.
Was recently inspired to run a t&t dungeon bash as an alternative when not everyone could make a rp session and it was wildly successful. Very glad to be at a forum to explore Trollworld and other such craziness with like minded folks.
Cheers

Welcome Uburoi and Zanshin It is great to see all these new people joining us! And to meet my fellow peers in game playing! (I started roughly around 1977) T&T magic system was a sore spot for me for years. Those names kept driving me away to "serious" RPG. About ten years ago I read Ken St. Andre's description of playing the Dark Side of T&T. I read it eagerly to see what he thought, and was surprised to find him describing how I play T&T. I never thought to play T&T with a silly edge despite the spell names. Now? I love those spell names both from nostalgia and the idea that Wizards might just be mocking everyone else. "Those wounds are awful looks like you lost 1/2 CON! Poor Baby, Poor Baby, hey! Don't get angry, I have to say that to cast the spell!! Poor Baby, Poor Poor Baby."

Hello, everyone! I used to play Tunnels and Trolls back in the early eighties and really enjoyed the system but my players preferred the other game so I never got to run T&T very often. Somewhere along the line, I simply forgot about T&T and I assumed, because I never saw it in stores anymore, that it had gone out of print. Only recently did I see the 30th Anniversery box online and felt a nostalgic desire to revisit the game.
Anyway, I've blown part of my tax refund on T&T. I have on order the 30th Anniversary tin, the 5.5 rulebook, and "that company"' magic supplement, monster supplement, Trollworld setting and Trollworld map and am looking forward to running an old school game again.
Regards,
V

Welcome aboard, Vfults. Man do I envy you! You are about to embark on one of the most exciting trips ever! I can't wait for you to get your stuff and fall in love all over again! I'm not anybody here, so I hope the Powers That Be don't be pitching in and saying this, but they tell us all the time that we are welcome to reply to any post, no matter how old... so don't be shy! We're a friendly bunch, open-minded to everything, and brought together by one common denominator: a love of the best roleplaying game ever made! I'm not sure where you bought your copies of T&T, but let me post here the two links that are like food and air to the rest of here: "that company"--The gang here just recently introduced me to this place... it's a knockout. "that guy" ("that guy", he of "that company") has just recently provided me with T&T1e, T&T4e, and Monsters! Monsters!. And, as you'll see, that barely scratches the surface of his goodies. Flying Buffalo--This is where it all began. Rick Loomis is still around and still keeping the game alive! So now that you've spent your tax refund, now you've got two new places to go and burn up your life savings! Hope your have a blast!

Same here, Talonfire, but you knew that already. Question: Where is this "Dark Side of T&T" by Ken of which you speak? I would really love to see that, if you can point me in the right direction! Like you said, I've never played T&T with a silly edge... but I just assumed that if anyone did, it would be Ken. I'd love to see what He has to say on this topic.

Thanks for the welcome, Fenris Wulf! I bought the 5.5 book on eBay, the tin from FBI, and everything else from "that company". The tin came in the mail this afternoon, so I'm going to dive into the rules over the weekend.

I feel it necessary to warn you, Mr. vfults:
This site will tempt you with Variant Rules until your head begins to spin... This site will give you more Campaign Ideas than you could ever, ever play in a human lifetime... This site will go into maddening detail about FBI, Fiery Dragon, "that company" and other such consumer RPG Havens that you (unless you are vigilant) will consume ALL of your Money... This site will tieup all of your free time...
Having said all of the above, I think you'll like it here! Welcome to the Vitual Hotel California mi Amigo...
;D
