What did I find today at the store I work at - a pad of graph paper 5 squares to the inch! The stuff you used to be able to get everywhere and which I used to use BiTD to draw dungeon levels. And I'm all frickin' excited about the fact that I found graph paper. Every other pad of graph paper I've seen recently has been 4 squares to the inch, and it just doesn't feel right for a proper-sized megadungeon level. Whee! 5-square-to-the-inch graph paper! I can makez dunjon naow! Jeeeeee-z Louise am I a geek.

I haven't even thought of looking in stores for that kind of paper. I just download an appropriate size hex or graphpaper types and print 'em at home. I do have fond memories of those perfect light blue lines, though. Well, that and making character after character, monster after monster while flipping back and forth through my copies of Moldvay Basic and Cook/Marsh Expert all the while listening to Rush, Yes, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep. Yep. You'd think I was gaming in the late 70's or early 80's. Nah. I'm just a weirdo. I'm talking about 1987. ;D

And speaking of general geek-glee, I finally recieved my new German Side Sword last week and my new main gauche and a frog to hold said parrying dagger at the small of my back. I love them. Who needs women? And I have some more new clothes to wear at Ren Fest. I'll just flirt with chicks there and then after I go home alone I'll still have my new steel. Ha HA! I win again... oh. wait.
Plus I just got on older VHS copy of The Hobbit to replace that terrible DVD they released years ago. Ugh. Yeah, thanks for releasing the movie with most of the sound effects simply gone. Yeah. That's what we wanted. Appreciate it. When ya have to downgrade your movie collection to get a better copy, you know people are screwing up bad somewhere. -lol-

When I go backpacking, every once in awhile I picture myself being on a quest. And I turn 41 this month ;D

When I go backpacking, every once in awhile I picture myself being on a quest. And I turn 41 this month ;D That's ok. I mean, I go to Ren Fest in costume and I'll admit sometimes there's a fantasy world and character in my head as I walk about. Most of the time I'm too busy talking and laughing to enjoy that, though. Plus anytime I walk or drive by deep woods...I can't help but stare at them and want to be there...

Ever try to find a pad of hex paper, or a blank hex map? It ain't easy these days. I was in the xerox room at work one day making copies of blank hex paper when a colleague walked in and was looking at what I was doing. I tried to convince him that it was "tri-axial coordinate paper for 3-D graphing." Not sure he bought it.

Maybe your super-tight, threadbare, light yellow "Never Mess With A Wizard" tee gave you away.

Thanks very much for the link! That looks like a nice one. I've always been able to find printable hex grids, but suppose you want a large map beyond the limits of a standard printer? When wargames an rpg's were in their heydey you could find rather large blank hex maps available. Such a pain to piece together all those 8.5x11's.
