" There seems to be no good way to deal with the pit friend Ponto while those pale lurkers could leap out while we battle the serpents"
"However once we have dealt with them have no fear my companion, we will return and search the depths of the pit until we discover what these foul unnatural beaked things guard"
OOC: Scouting ahead would be a good Idea, but as low level as we all are staying together is probably the best chance for us all to survive.

"A scout in the lead may be a good idea. Our friend Ponto is quieter and may be able to discern hidden objects that we cannot."
"There is a four way intersection just to the north. We will need to be vigilant if we are not to fall into an ambush. We should keep a least one warrior in the rear to guard against sneak attacks. I volunteer to take the lead behind Ponto since my spear will offer some advantage against charging foes. Once Thurgood has recovered his strength we should move with all haste."
OOC: How many of us can walk through the corridors? Single file? Double?

"I'll take place behind you Bjorn, between your spear and my spells we should be able to blunt any charge these creeping things can muster"
"If Monty takes the middle position he will be best placed to take advantage of his greater mobility and that will leave two doughty warriors to bring up the rear and guard against ambush from behind"
OOC: From the Looks of the map and the fact the creature was able to make it past Monty the corridor must be at least big enough for two to walk abreast.
What is the verdict Ragnorakk? ;D

When everyone's ready Ponto will set off, as quietly and carefully as he can, into the dark eastern passage, keeping his left hand on the wall to minimise bumping into things.
"Count 100 before you follow me, and walk slowly. It's no good me being quiet if you're not and you're right behind me."

Up to three could walk in the hallway, at half-turn, say in formation with spears. Two could walk one just a pace ahead of the other with some room for maneuvering. So - marching order for 10' corridors, two abreast, oriented to north (north) Ponto (scouting ahead), then Bjorn - Thurgood (?-?) (?-?) unless others place themselves, I'll make random rolls for order and placement should the issue come up.
[Thurgood - I'm unsure if you're doing the 'power meditation' thing or not. I'll keep the game-time at 5 minutes in the room - in order to restore d6, you have to enter into a trance-state, which would preclude conversation. Let me know if this is your intention.]

OOC: Yes, I'll meditate for the required time.

gotcha OK - 5 more minutes pass. Thurgood's gone up 3 (STR 12/14), Monty up 1 (LK 13/17). Ponto, Monty & Bjorn at the north passage - Antonio and Koblenz the east and south. After Thurgood returns to this world, Ponto cautiously goes forward, cleaving to the east wall. As you approach the intersection you see no activity and hear nothing unusual. You can sense that there is more space open beyond the arch to the north than a narrow hallway. You turn east - the group has not yet begun following you. The light here is weak - but out of the light yourself, your eyes adjust to the extent that you see the east passage extending 30 feet and turning north. Quiet and careful, you move to the end of the east passage and look north (at this point the rest of the party starts to follow), but the darkness north is too deep.

"...98, 99, 100." Let's move. OOC: It's a good thing Bjorn has an INT of 13. Bjorn takes the lead, torch held high and spear at the ready. When he arrives at the intersection he looks to the west and north to be sure no enemies are skulking in the darkness or piles of unguarded treasure waiting to be hauled away.

Thurgood follows far enough behind Bjorn to not hinder his ability to ply his spear.
Carrying his torch aloft to provide the most light and allow the shadows nearer the ground to better hide the scouting Ponto.
Thurgood strains his senses to their utmost to catch any sign that might betray the lurking presence of danger.
His staff ready he moves forward into the unknown.

(the white hazy marks denote places you can't see, the limits or light, vision etc but seem to be open. This one may be too big...oops) The chamber on the other side of the north arch is messy, there are many things strewn all over the place with no apparent rhyme or reason. You can make out what looks like piles of rags or shredded cloth. There are two spears, broken halfway. Shards of broken clay pots.

While we pass the room to follow Ponto, I whisper to those behind me.
"Be careful my friends, let no lurking danger catch you unaware"
OOC: Can we make anything else out in the room as we pass?

Bjorn looks behind him for a moment to make sure everyone is following, then moves as quietly as possible down the eastern corridor.
He whispers to Thurgood, "We'll search this chamber later. Hopefully there is more than trash."

"Aye friend Bjorn, perhaps even the texts we are seeking, but they will do no one any good if we don't live to return them to their rightful owners"

OOC: I'm not going to stop to check or anything, but does it look as if the debris is just junk thrown there or as if something happened there, like a fight?

It looks more like junk that has been deposited by messy squatters, with little regard for tidiness. Piles of various things that have been kicked out of the way of passing feet...the signs do not indicate a fight so much - the wreckage seems random. Shredded cloth predominates, mixed. Wool, felt, silk...
