Not sure if this has been posted.... Tunnels & Trolls Free Rulebook at RPGNow "This is a short version of the full Tunnels & trolls Rules. It is sufficient to play the solitaire adventure, and to show your friends how to play with the GameMaster adventure. Tunnels & Trolls is one of the easiest role playing games to learn and play. All you need are paper & pencil and some six-sided dice (at least 3). One of the best things about T&T is that you can play it solitaire, where the book is the gamemaster. Most of the following rules are written as if you are playing a solitaire adventure. If you are playing with a gamemaster, he or she will roll the dice for any opponents or monsters, and normally you will not be told the Monster Rating, or armor of your enemy, only what you might be able to see, and the total of any dice rolls." Might this be the same rules given away at Free RPG day...?

Yes, it is. The download does not appear to include the colour covers, but otherwise seems identical.
Rick at FBI has print copies available.

This link will take you directly to a web page, not a pdf. Check it out! While you're there, go back a page to: Some other free T&T Goodness you'll want to check out (Link).

Thanks for the links, guys. I have piles of T&T stuff already, including several rulebooks and a printed copy of this from "free RPG day", but it's always nice to have an electronic version to look at when I'm not at home with my piles. :-)

Not only that, but a free copy of the rules in PDF format a) Is a big leap for FBI b) Just might bring folks in to the game who otherwise wouldn't have been brought in.
I think it's a great thing for this to be available.

I think it's a great thing for this to be available. As do I... I'm just worried that it doesn't seem to have much exposure... you wouldn't know it's there, I mean I only stumbled upon it. There are forums at RPGNet and ENWorld where you are allowed to post about published items.... maybe convert the heathens

Some points are valid, like the presentation, but you should read it yourselves... Review at RPGNowWell, I learned something very important things from that review. 1. You get what you pay for (what does she expect for free? D&D3e?) and, 2. Don't determine the value of a product based on the free/shareware/demo versions. As for the review (such as it is): Soldiers carry over 200 lbs in the field? These people aren't soldiers and they're not in the field... and my guess is the only thing she lifts that's 200 lbs is her stomach. What the hell does how much soldiers carry in the field have to do with anything? Second, the rest of us know why you can't use certain weapons at the beginning of the game... you gain the strength (and/or dex) to use them as you continue play and ascend in level. Obviously, she's never played those 80's video games I love so much... you can't use Platinum Sword at first level! You have to acquire Bronze Sword, Silver Sword and Gold Sword first. Besides, Platinum Sword doesn't even become available until you're 20th level, then you have to find it (in the Red Hydra's Cave, off the coast of Malish, East of the Temple of Venah), and have to spend 20000 Garjetti to purchase it from the Vendor once you rescue him! Basically, a very lackluster review. Apparently she saw the price of FREE and just got it without any real particular interest. Then she proceeded to judge the whole game (7 editions and several huge tomes of house rules) by one 15 page free supplement, originally only placed at the beginning of the Corgi solo adventures so players wouldn't have to buy the whole rulebook to play them (which, again, she wouldn't know and doesn't care enough to find out). Personally, I give her review 1 out of 5 stars, and that's only because I don't know if I'm allowed to give 0 or negative ratings.

While I don't agree with a lot of what the reviewer says, I can see where she is coming from. It's a good heads-up as to what a younger gamer with no exposure to T&T would actually think about the free booklet. To draw people in, production values need to be higher, and the game's strengths need to be more clearly promoted. Just including a colour cover in the free pdf would have influenced a few people's very first impressions of T&T more positively.

It's a good heads-up as to what a younger gamer with no exposure to T&T would actually think about the free booklet. Hmmm. Or is it? Opinions, as they say, are like @$$holes; everyone's got one, and most are full of sh!t. While it's possible that this reviewer is a perfect representation of the middle-of-the-road next-gen gamer, it's also just as possible that she's not. Besides, T&T as it is, is a pretty basic game, and it's not going to be for everyone. Even 7e is much more basic than your average modern day game. In today's hyper-kenetic-blink-and-you-miss-it-tiny-print-wall-to-wall-with-rules-need-three-huge-books-to-get-the-full-game world we live in, T&T represents a return to the simplest time (not a simpler time, which would be OD&D, which is still more complex than T&T!). It's just not gonna be for everyone.

At least Patrick Crusiau and Robert Lotze set the record straight with additional reviews. Nadine Sawyer came across as ignorant of RPG history and what soldiers carry in the field. Good job you two!!

Good job you two!! Is Patrick Crusiau a member of this board? I'm pretty sure that the Robert Lotze guy is, even though I don't know his username , but I'm not familiar with Mr. Crusiau at all.

I have no idea. I am assuming they read this stuff. I figured Robert has to be one of the Roberts over on RadioFreeTrollWorld.
