"I'll take the lead," Charles says as he straps his shield on once again. "Maybe my luck will hold out."
"What's the verdict on that necklace Verklud? Is it magical, cursed, or just gold? Maybe it would allow us to speak to these strange creatures? Or maybe control them? I've heard tales of such items."

Verklud considers the situation more... "Yoi - Quinlan! Perhaps you're better adapted than I to utilize this trident... If so, you're free to use it - I'd be able to do little but sling my pack from it... "Yoi - Charles! I'm waiting while the stars align the clouds overhead, the Sixth Sense stirs of it's own accord...the Great Heggs revealed this day once patient move to seat the way... ...allow me to redouble my efforts..."

Quinlan will jog up to the front of the party and fall in with Charles. Hand on sword, just in case...

"Some of the 'squid' being sold back in the city looked like it might have been one of Burt's relatives" Alwyn observes.

The glyphs on the necklace are unfamiliar to you all.
Verklud, there is no enchantment on the necklace, but there are faint traces of fell magic. Holding the golden necklace gives you no comfort.
The claws of the gill-man are indeed long and sharp, and it is doubtful that your ropes would hold it very long if left unsupervised. But so far, with all your eyes upon it, the creature has tried nothing.
As you continue your journey, you give the flooded pond a wide berth. The gill-man hobbles along, slowing your pace a little.
After an uneventful hour, you round the pond and head westward. The gill-man has recovered remarkably and eyes you all malignantly.
Ahead the terrain is more difficult to traverse as the long grass gives way to slippery mud, deep puddles and tangled copses.
(Those in the lead (Quinlan, Charles), make a 1st level SR on IQ or LK.)

Quinlan makes a level 1 Saving Roll (rolled 7 + 13 LK).
<OoC: that nasty gill chap will be 'fighting fit' in no time at all. Watch out...>

"Well Burt here is making a speedy recovery"
Drugan gives the rope lead a little shake.
"I say we tie him to a tree when we get to that copse up ahead"
"By the time he gets out of the knots I leave him in we'll be long gone"

Quinlan: "Good call Drugan, hopefully he's learned the lesson of our might and our magnanimity."

Drugan scratches under his chin with his staff & looks meaningfully at the Gill-Man.
"Just don't make me regret this Burt or I'll come back & make your whole Tribe regret it"

Quinlan shivers visibly. "I'm glad you're on our side Drugan.... Drugan, you are on our side aren't you?"

OOC: Charles misses his L1 SR on LK
Charles LK (12) saving roll 2d6 4 + 2 = 6
"Yes, lets leave Burt behind and get out of here. I have a bad feeling."

Quinlan: "I don't have a good feeling about that amulet either..."

"Of course I'm on your side Quinlan, why all of you are closer to me than brothers"
Drugan gets a wistful look in his eyes and claps Quinlan on the back.
"And I should know, I killed my real brothers"

Quinlan, you notice a footprint in the mud by the puddle in front of you. Whoever left it had webbed and clawed feet.

Poncho: "Well spotted Quinlan. Unless Charles has taken his boots off again I fear we are about to get jumped by the frog-men."
"I say we leave their leader gutted and hamstrung here. While his cries draw them out we can make haste to the south for another quarter mile... perhaps we might yet get around them."
