"Run away!"
If Charles lives he chucks his pride in the mud and follows the others. If not he throws himself into the mud. That couldn't reduce his Charisma much further.

I haven't had the time to sum it all up. But it might not be as bad as you think. The veil will double your HPT for two rounds more and several of your opponents will be incapacitated, so their next HPT will be significantly reduced.
I'm sorry this is dragging along. Our move to another apartment came up rather suddenly and unfortunately I'm having a really busy period at work as well. Now I'm off to bed.

OOC: I say we re-group and strike while the iron is still hot.
I can still add a d6 to the combat total and Drugan wants his bloody revenge on Burt.

All hope seems lost as the savage gill-men bear down upon you. (Your total HPT was 126, against their 147.)
Quinlan barely manages to ward of the brunt of the leaders sneak attack, while Charles desperately tries to fend off the three regulars. (4 damage to both.)
Drugan and Varklud, both instinctively utter the incantation of the Penetrating Laceration and a hundred invisible razors sear the flesh of the three foes bearing down on them. (3 damage to both.)
Poncho, deftly manages to tackle one of the gill-men advancing on him and Alwyn. And begins to fight off the other two as Alwyn conjures the Veil of Shuga. (Poncho takes 4 damage and Alwyn 3.)
Suddenly the gill-men stand dumbfounded, as the party vanishes from sight. But the veil only grants complete invisibility to those who stand still and soon the tide of the battle changes, as the gill-men have to fend off attacks from shadowy ghosts. (Imagine the chameleon effect in the movie Predator.)
Two of the gill-men succumb to their wounds from the Lacerations cast by Drugan and Varklud. And Burt is also severely weakened by both the magic attack and the choking knot around his neck.
The gill-men are now on the defensive and the unharmed leader has to bark some very severe orders to keep the regulars from fleeing.
(Allot the damage as you want and remember that armor degrades and shields don't.
The veil will hold for two more rounds. The monsters only get a quarter of their MR as adds and Burt gets none since he is tied up and choking.)

Alwyn, too weak to fight anyway [OOC: -6 adds and no weapon], beats a hasty retreat (1 minute of invisibility I think?)

Quinlan: "Without another volley of spells to bolster our attack, I say we flee. Although I admire your spirit Drugan!"

Drugan curses bitterly and continues on. OOC: I wonder how much it costs to poison an entire lake?

I'll send another Laceration, targeting the other leader (not Burt) 'ring's getting warm...'

With the others running, Charles has no choice but to join them. Before he flees, however, he throws his spear at one of the gill men regulars in an attempt to thin their numbers.

Poncho: "Follow the invisible wizard!", keeps running.
OOC: Think I dropped my bow somewhere earlier, will snag it if possible.

OOC: Think I dropped my bow somewhere earlier, will snag it if possible. I think you also stated that you retrieved the bow.
The game will hopefully be back on track by the end of next week. Now I have to get back to packing, the movers are coming tomorrow.

Before retreating with the others, Varklud slashes the other leader with a spell, dropping the large gill-man to the ground (20 hits).
Inspired by the Hegg's bravery, Charles hurls his spear at another gill-man, who drops with a loud croak (15 hits).
The remaining gill-men are in a state of disarray and do not give pursuit.
The veil holds for about 4 minutes, which gives you ample head start. When the effect wears off you can barely spot the gill-men far away to the east. So far they have made no effort to follow you. You are hidden behind a copse of small trees while you catch your breath in the pelting rain.

Quinlan: "Egad friends are we all intact? I'll never look at a plate of fried cod the same way again! I suggest we make a sortie to the coast and follow it down to the south?"
