OOC: OK 1 have 14 gold left at this point, how much do I need to spend to outfit us with the above supplies? 5 gp for three large (1 gallon) waterskins (bought separately 2 gp each), plus 2 gp for the sandals if you really want them? (I think Poncho already bought for all the barefoot people.)
The food would cost 18 gp according to the price list (1 gp/person/day), Alwyn tries to help you out with the haggling but it's no use, the old crones in the food stands remain unaffected (rolled 3, for a total of 19).OOC: I thought there was still someone without sandals from the gist of the conversation, if not don't worry about it. Hmm, could I purchase a couple of loaves of bread and a wheel of cheese?

One days worth of food for one person costs 1 gp, you can have it be anything you like as long as its inexpensive normal foodstuffs. As I said earlier, you can survive on a half portion per day almost indefinitely, it just means that your characters will always be hungry (no penalties to any actions though).

OOC: Alright with the water skins I'm down to 9 GP, so I'll buy 6 days worth of food and we can all go on squid, sandwiches and lean rations!
Now lets get this show on the road!

"You are most generous Drugan. I'll carry any of the provisions that you cannot. Perhaps now we can die by means other than starvation. A pitiful way to meet ones end and one I wish to avoid. Yes, lets be off. We may be able to get over the mountains before the sun sets."

"Yes, and if we see any game along the trail I'll seer it with a little arcane power"
"I used to supplement the little my master fed me with blasted possum and squirrel"
"It's not bad, but it does lend a sulfurous flavor to the meat"
Drugan readjusts his pack and settles his gear for the road.
"I can skin and clean a beast in a trice, I used to do all the prep work on the masters sacrificial Virgi......I mean animal sacrifices, yeah thats it animal sacrifices"
Looking slightly uncomfortable Drugan sets off.

Quinlan: "Excellent, shoed and provisioned we can head for the tower and wealth to fund our next expedition as sure as the deodand is a small domesticated pet. If we head South-East for the remainder of the day, we'll be in the highlands and surely able to find a defensible campsite. From good Floris' instructions it seems we then head South-West, following the foothills and heading for the coast."
"All those in favour say 'aye' and as you know, veto goes to the best looking hat!"

Poncho: "Aye, lead on Peac0ck." "And don't forget your sandals... here, let me tie them for you. Umm.."

Qinlan: "You're a good man in a fix Poncho. It's hard to focus on both hat and shoes in a pinch! Let us make haste before the sun sets and the pelgranes are abroad."

(I'm moving you along, as there seems to be a consensus to go.)
You head off for the east gate, passing the Temple of the Spider God on your right. The gates are open and a guard detail is collecting taxes from a line of travelers. Entry fees seem to range from a couple of copper pieces for the most wretched (some lepers are denied entry completely), to a couple of crowns for the more handsomely attired. Nobody pays you any attention as you pass the gate.
Heading southeast, and following the road, you soon pass the city garbage dump, a gully that stretches westward, filled to the brim with stinking heaps of kitchen wastes, excrement and various unusable equipment. A few silhouettes can be spotted moving amongst the refuse, the most desperate of the poor, searching for scraps. Gulls, rats and other animal scavengers also abound.
After the dump, the road (more like a dignified trail) begins to slant upwards towards the mountains. Small copses, large boulders and heaps of rocks dot the landscape on both sides.
The sky has turned overcast and dark clouds are amassing over the sea. No other travelers can be seen ahead of you. Drugan and Alwyn agree that the storm will probably be over you later tonight.
(Tell me a bit about your plans and how you are marching.)

"Grunt" "Wonderful our luck holds true"
Drugan shakes his head.
"We better start looking for a dry place to pass the night"
"I survived the crossing & I have no intention of catching a cold now"
OOC: Besides looking for a place that would serve as shelter from the storm Drugan will cast around for a stout looking branch that might make a good cudgel that he can Enchant into a makeshift staff.
As soon as the city walls begin to fade into the distance Drugan will unlimber his shield and assume a position at the forward left side of the party. He has no intention of being ambushed like he was when he was kidnapped for banishment.
Most likely the desperate who can't afford to live in the city prey on unwary travelers who walk these roads at twilight.

Drugan will cast around for a stout looking branch that might make a good cudgel that he can Enchant into a makeshift staff. You find a suitable piece of dry and sturdy wood, that will serve as a walking staff as well. The light gray wood glows for a few moments as you utter the incantation and transfer the morsel of strength required for the enchantment. (If anyone else wants a makeshift staff, there are plenty suitable fallen branches in the copses by the trail. Just mention that you take one.)

Drugan hooks his crowbar into his belt and takes up his new staff.
"Ah, now I finally feel like a proper wizard again!"
He grins savagely.
"When they relieved me of my staff it felt like they were taking one of my hands"
"It's good to have one back, even if only a makeshift"

"And have them murder us in our sleep?"
Drugan shakes his head.
"At best their loyalty would only last until we find some treasure, then "Slick" ( Drugan draws a finger across his throat ).
"Better to travel with those you can trust, unless you need some traps "disarmed" by a few unwary hirelings"
Drugan barks an unpleasant laugh.
