(Overview of the area beyond the pass. The map covers an area approximately 1 mile N-S and W-E. When the gill-men notice Poncho, the gilded leader gives a harsh cry out towards the water and shakes his trident in the air. After this they both start moving rapidly towards Poncho. They are so focused on him that they do not notice Quinlan and the others, hiding behind the boulder. (Closer view. The distance between Quinlan and Poncho is approximately 150 yards. The large gray areas are copses, the dark spots boulders or heaps of rocks. The land area is mostly covered by knee high grass. There are trees and boulders in the shallow waters as well.)As the two gill-men pass Quinlan's party by 20 or so yards, Poncho let's his arrow fly at the gill-man regular leading the charge. Almost simultaneously Drugan utters the incantation for the Penetrating Laceration of Koth and releases a wave of magical energy at the leader (-6 ST and +12 EP for Drugan). Following Drugan, Charles hurls his spear at the leaders back. Unfortunately Poncho's arrow just grazes the gill-man's arm and does no real harm (0 damage). The gilded leader cries out in pain and stumbles as a long gash opens up on his back (14 damage). As he tries to regain his balance, he is impaled by Charles spear (6 damage). The leader falls flailing to the wet ground. The other gill-man has now noticed that he is alone and outnumbered and tries to flee towards the water. Those using missile weapons may try to take him down before he can dive.

Poncho: "Woo-hoo!", ditches his bow and charges forward with his dagger drawn. He's probably too far away to chase down the fleeing creature, so instead he's more interested in liberating a fallen trident.
OOC: Terrific maps burke.. hope that wasn't too much work. Have an Exalt for your efforts.

Charles draws his sax, grabs his shield, and charges toward the retreating gill man in an effort to cut his off from the pond.

Drugan quickly closes with the downed Gill-man to check on his status.
When he reaches the body he'll give it a good prod with his cudgel and check to see if it's still alive.

The fleeing gill-man falls forward as Alwyn's spell opens up a pair of deep wounds on his calves and thighs (14 damage, 12 EP for Alwyn). The battle is now over, both of the gill-men are still alive, but seriously wounded and unable to attack or flee.
Poncho picks up the leaders trident. (For rules purposes it is a spear.)
The leader scowls and coughs up blood, the gills on his neck flaring. He curses you in his own tongue, which seems to be the only language he knows.
The other gill-man lies unresponsive and bleeding in the shallow water.

Drugan tightly binds the leaders hands and loops a lead of rope into a choke lead for the leaders neck.
After this is done he will remove the necklace from his prisoners throat and laugh coarsely as he displays it for his companions.
"Well lads we've our first booty, and a hostage to boot"
"Now if our fishy friends try anything we'll have a nice shield to keep us safe and sound"
He looks the Gill-Man leader in the eye and waves his staff in a threatening manner.
"Now my be-gilled friend up on your feet or be dragged"
Drugan makes upward and rising gestures at the Gill-Man.

Quinlan: "Well that went rather smoothly. I might as well put my sword away... Um. Well done. Er, lads.
Does anyone speak gillesque? If not, I'm not sure what we're going to do with them. They're already tagged... Release them back into the wild?"

Drugan Keeps a tight rein on his rope lead.
"I think our friend here should accompany us to keep us safe from his friends"
"I bear them no malice, but we may need to come back this way and we can release........"
Here Drugan trails off for a second and stairs at the Gill-Man.
"Burt, yes he looks like a Burt, we can release Burt on the way back"
Drugan smiles at the Gill-Man.
"Well Burt your our round trip ticket it seems, I hope you like squid Burt you may be eating it for a few days"

Drugan flashes a smile.
"Don't worry, its not the first time I've trussed a prisoner up"
"We'll tie him in with a choke knot, the more he struggles with his bonds the more he'll choke and we'll hang him by his feet at night"
"Lets see how clever our friend is when all the bloods rushing to his head and even if he gets loose he have a nice noisy fall ahead of him"

Quinlan: "All good points Drugan. Keeping may well be better than letting him go but I think he'll soon die if he doesn't get those gills into water?"
