OOC: Burke in the legends Drugan has heard has it said anything about how long a Gill-Man can survive outside of water?

Poncho jogs over to the fallen Gill-man and gingerly prods him with the butt of his new spear. "This one's still alive too!", and quickly kicks the second trident away.
He stands back up carefully scanning the waters of the pond for any movement, then discretely delivers the wounded creature a few swift kicks to the ribs.
"I reckon the third guard that took off earlier will be back soon with his friends. Maybe we should press on with our prisoner, at least until we clear the lake area. T'other here is not fit for marching."
OOC: I'll retrieve bow I discarded earlier... anyone need the second trident?

Charles retrieves his spear and wipes the gill man's blood from the blade in the tall grass. Charles then rushes over and drags the other gill man from the shallow water onto shore. He checks to see if it is still alive, unconscious, or dead. If it is incapacitated he searches the wounded beast. "Where did his trident go?" he ask no one in particular."
OOC: Any EPs for this skirmish?

(48 EP to everyone who made an attack in the battle.)
Drugan, very little is known of the Gill-Men, except that they are evil and serve dark gods. When they stood guard, they did not seem to have any problems breathing out of the water.
Poncho, as you look out over the pond, you think you see a dark shape disappear beneath the waters further out.
Charles, the second gill-man is alive, though he cannot walk. I think Poncho offered you his trident.
There is no sign of the other gill-men and visibility is poor because of the rain.

OOC: A little bit of cross posting I see.
Charles sees that Poncho has the second trident. "I don't need it Poncho. Just one more thing to trip over. It may fetch a few coins back in town though."
After making sure that the second gill man is incapacitated, Charles rejoins the others.
"I have to agree with Quilan. Hauling a prisoner around, even a trussed up prisoner, will be difficult. Especially in the wizards tower." Charles eyes the gill man suspiciously. "Do we know if this thing is a wizard?"
He sees that Drugan is holding the necklace the gill man leader was wearing. "What's that shiny trinket made of?"

"Well Burt seems to breath well enough, lets beat feet out of here before his relations can make a fuss"
"If he becomes too much trouble we'll deal with it later, better one recalcitrant Gill-Man than a whole clan"
Dugan tosses Charles the necklace.
"See for yourself"
Drugan motions forward to Burt.
"Now get along lad, you know what this staff can do, lets all be friends here"

Charles, the necklace is rather bulky and looks something like this: It is meant to be worn over the shoulders so that the triangle is situated in the middle of the chest. A multitude of faint glyphs cover the whole of the necklace, which appears to made of solid gold. The leader rises to his feet and seems already to have recovered a little. He glares at you and emits a wet growl, he has the smell of fish about him.

Poncho: "I'm with Drugan. Let's at least drag Burt along until we're clear of the lake. Either way we're sure to be followed so a prisoner might make for a useful distraction... Drugan can let him go later, or slit his throat, as the mood takes him."
"... And perhaps we should give the shoreline a wide berth as we circle round to the west. I saw movement out there in the lake and who knows what other foul creatures may reside within."
Poncho offers the extra trident to Varklud (worrying that Quinlan would just do himself a damage). If Varklud declines then he'll just hump it for now.
OOC: Before we press on, is there anything of note at the spot where the Gill-men were standing guard?

OOC: Before we press on, is there anything of note at the spot where the Gill-men were standing guard? No, the place does not seem to hold any obvious significance. But anyone straying from the wagon trail and going westward would probably pass this place, as long as the pond is flooded.

"This necklace seems to have some strange writing on it. Can one of you wizard types see if it has any magical properties?"

Poncho:Poncho offers the extra trident to Varklud (worrying that Quinlan would just do himself a damage). If Varklud declines then he'll just hump it for now. Quinlan sees the exchange of pointy sticks and thinks to himself: With a different hat perhaps...Quinlan: "Well done with the tridents Poncho, if we can get out of this rain and make a campfire we can toast squid to our heart's content. Assuming no one thought to bring marshmallows?" Quinlan slowly takes off his tricorn hat and takes a long drink from the water pooled in the brim... ahhh.

Restoring an arrow unusued, Verklud accepts the trident offered. "Allow me a moment with the necklace, to assess it through Tsathotha's Sense - but we should certainly continue with haste away from their waters..."
(Will cast Tsathotha's Sixth Sense on the necklace)

"Well lads, lets get going, if we hang about out here in the open they are bound to try and snatch Burt back from us"
"You saw movement on the water Poncho?"
"Then your right lets steer clear of the water if we can"
Saying this Drugan fixes the Gill-Man leader with a withering glare.
"Don't you be growling at me Burt"
Saying this he waves his staff in a menacing manner.
"You try anything and it'll be without the benefit of a head"

Verklud says "How's it claws, there Drugan? I'll keep an eye on it - take a position behind it with my sax at hand. Who'll keep an eye for pursuit? Whose eye to the fore?"

"No worry's, If he tries to pull away I yank on the rope, he chokes, he tries to pull free of his bonds he chokes and with those neck gills of his thats got to hurt"
"Still we should keep him in the middle of the party to discourage any rescue attempts"
