Neither of the doors has a keyhole, but looking in the crack under each door, the spaces on the other sides seem to be as dark as this room. The south door opens inward and the north door outward. Both seem to be harmless and unblocked. The only noises you hear are your own breaths and the occasional drip of water.
Poncho jams the south door with a spike and Charles carefully opens the north door. The hinges creak from lack of lubrication, but otherwise the door opens easily enough, revealing a long corridor leading northward.
The light from the lantern only illuminates 30 feet or so of the 10 foot wide passage. The rough floor and walls are bare, except for the occasional growth of lichen and empty torch holder. The ceiling, which is perhaps 12 feet high, is filled with black slugs.

"Let's do something about those slugs first" Alwyn says.
"See if you can stand on something and get the torch up there, see if you can burn them."

Drugan lights a torch and holds it up to the ceiling. The scorched slugs drop to the ground. The smell is not altogether bad, though slightly on the burned side.
Thus clearing the path ahead the party moves carefully north. The corridor is 60 feet long and terminates in a metal door. This door, rusty though it is, looks much sturdier than the previous and is ornamented with engravings. Like the others it has no keyhole or visible locking mechanism.
The engravings depict both men and gill-men walking towards a pool of water with a monolith rising from it. Both parties are wearing necklaces similar to the ones you took from the gill-men officers.

Quinlan: "Somehow that seemed like a good idea, well done Alwyn."
"Hey do we still have one of those golden necklaces... Might come in handy if one of us has to masquerade as Cthonic-type..."
"I certainly have a bad feeling about this door but I'm also confident that Charles will surge through in a very manly way..."

"Thanks Quinlan" says Alwyn.
"I gave the necklace to Poncho."

Poncho: "Mmm, I love the smell of burnt slugs in the morning."
"Necklaces, that's a good idea... I have two of them here. I'll put one on, who wants the other?"

Quinlan: "I'll talke the other but I won't slip it on just yet..."
"Let's get this door open!"
<OOC> I'll check the door to see if I can spy any obvious traps then I'll pop it open!

Charles stands with his shield raised and trident ready to throw at anything that comes through the door.
"I'm not sure I like the way this is heading. Let's be careful with those necklaces."

The door doesn't seem to be trapped and opens easily enough, revealing a ten foot gill-man looking right back at you. It points at you with one extended, clawed finger, its bulbous, fish eyes gleaming in the torchlight.
And that's all it does. It's a statue. Very lifelike and carved from a damp looking black-green stone. The eyes are two large pearls and it has a carved necklace of familiar design around its neck. It stands on a round, foot high pedestal in the middle of the room.
The room is 70 feet wide and 50 feet deep, your entrance is in the middle of the south wall. Three other doors of similar design are situated in the east, north and west walls. The doors to the north and west are in the middle, the east one lies 10 feet from the south wall. None of the doors carry any ornaments on this side.
The ceiling is about 15 feet in height and both it and the walls are polished smooth. Great arches are carved into the ceiling, going from each corner to the center of the room.
Apart from the statue, the room is empty.

With the deft movements that would put a professional jeweller to shame, Quinlan plucks out the pearls from those fishy sockets...

The statue is 10 feet tall, so Quinlan has to do a little climbing to reach them. As he rips the second pearl from its socket, the previously solid feet of the statue crumble.
(Hogscape, make a L1SR on DEX or LK as the statue topples to get Quinlan out of harms way. Otherwise he will take 2 dice in damage as the statue falls upon him. Armor will alleviate the damage.)

Poncho: "Whoa! Are you alright there Quinlan?"
"Watch the doors, we might have been rumbled!"
OOC: Rag, I think the necklaces changed hands a few times - they were causing bad dreams.

<OOC> Burke can you make the SR for me (LK: 13), I'm at work and the die-rolling site is 'blocked' (curse the I.T. department!)?
"Look out below....!" Yells Quinlan, almost losing his hat...
