A question related to the dungeon generator I'm in the process of writing -
how much treasure is about right for each group of monsters?
eg, how much treasure should a 100 MR monster have?

What sorts of monsters are we talking about? Some monsters would probably have a lot from fighting with their neighbors or staging raids on caravans passing by outside the entrance to the dungeon. Think of the "ecosystem" of the dungeon, what sorts of creatures live there and how they interact (if ever) with the outside world.
I don't think allocating treasure according to MR would be a good idea, since the MR doesn't give any qualitative information about the monster.

Apeloverage, You're very welcome to use my random treasure generator, found here. It may not be exactly what you're after, but it's there if you want it.

Thanks! I've worked out a system (this was for my dungeon generator), but I've updated the jewels to add some that were in your list, hope that's OK?

Anything that you want to use, feel free!
I'm tempted to fiddle with that and update it in some areas. Jewel Sizes could do with being a non-linear table, I'm thinking...

If you're up to more work apeloverage, then I would recommend having three settings: Poor Treasure Treasure Great Treasure
Then each encounter rolls on the appropriate treasure generator.

I ended up having a system that's far, far more complicated than that...

Naw, Treasure charts are more fun. Too many people try to restrict magic and put it in little tiny spell boxes. Spells are meant to breath and stretch their limits ;D
