Yesterday I ordered a couple of solos: Treasures of the Mummy Queen and Dungeon of the Demon Mage, both by A.R. Holmes.
Has anyone played them?

Haven't played them yet, but have read through them, and they are, to my recollection, quite good. A.R. Holmes is better known to us here as Boozer, and all of the stuff that you can get from his Hobgoblin's Tavern is of very high quality.

Played Dungeon of the Demon Mage, and its harsh, but imaginative. I enjoyed it, real old school T&T. You will want a good character to have any chance of surviving - i went down with one who had survived Beyond the Silvered Pane - he still died

I have The Dungeon of the Demon Mage, and am not that keen on it. Contrary to most I've realized I find Boozer's dungeons lacking in one feature I feel is very central to T&T - whimsy. That being said it is a well done grim and deadly adventure. I'd do one small modification, though. In Boozer's dungeons the chance of a random encounter is set, and the monster type is random. I'd change it to be a D&D random encounter with a probability of an encounter as well as a random monster type.
It's extremely deadly, yes.

Ooh, deadly, I like it! I didn't realize it was Boozer, he told me on Trollhalla that they will have been posted today . I guess I'll have to use my 15th level Balrog I was going to use my demon warrior but he died in Rogues' Gallery yesterday boohoo.

Gorramscott a demon warrior died in Rogues' Gallery?!? So cool... I did not think it was deadly enough. May I ask how the demon died?

It was out of stupidity more than anything, but then again I like to see every outcome. I now have the solos and will report with my 2 cents when I play them.

Did you ever find the basement or go upstairs?

I did go upstairs, well I attempted but I died. Ouch.
I finally managed to delve into the Dungeon of the Demon Mage tonight with a freshly rolled up Dwarf Warrior. He was doing so well until he was eaten by zombies in the sewers. I've made a fairy wizard with insane LUCK (rolled triple 6, woo for TARO). I don't really have high hopes for him though, having a STR of 2 and all.

Both of these solos are great! Demon Mage is very tough! That's a good thing! All of the A.R. Holmes solos are very good (well at least the ones I have so far: Halls of the Gorgon, Hidden Halls of Ogul-duhr, Dark Harbour, Ice Cavern of Seralind, Wytches, Beneath the Temple of the Storm God, Sideshow, Castle Death, Mummy Queen and Demon Mage) and yes many are dark. So was Amulet of the Saltki and (possibly my all time favorite) Gamesmen of Kasar, to name just two. I especially recommend "Castle Death" for a fun, dark, tough delve that is not quite as hard as "Dungeon of the Demon Mage."

I don't think Boozer has ever put pen to paper and not finished up with a top-notch piece of work! Definitely the watch-word for quality in the T&T world...
JJB might be nipping at his heels though, Barony and Dark and brilliant solos!
