While we're on the subject, are there any supplements that I don't know of that price a lot of these TDK things? I know his crazy imagination has led to some very specific examples, but I mean some general guidelines on how much it would cost to do various large-scale investments in the Trollworld. What's the cost to build one's personal stronghold? I hate to compare anything to D&D, eek, but that is one thing that even the early editions of that outlined with various effects such as number of followers. Anything like that for T&T? I'm a primary soloer, secondary group play, so I don't have a lot of supplements other than some GM adventure materials (the popular usual ones that everybody seems to have). I know what ya mean. I've long wished such things would have been part of the standard rules. To be honest, I've always used slightly tweaked (depending) prices in old D&D stuff (1981 Basic and Expert, or Rules Cyclopedia, so on and so on). Of course, though I've no links, I've stumbled across a couple dozen such lists in gaming magazines and on the web over the years. T&T was translated in France some 20 years ago and the French company that did T&T in French was liquidated maybe 2 years later , so I don't have any more T&T players around - plus, I now live in Luxemburg, where T&T is completely unknown. Oh! Ouch! I'd go crazy. I'm sorry to hear that. (Which is why, incidentally, I translated T&T v. 7 into French with Ken and Rick's blessing - now I'm still waiting for Rick to do a PDF out of my word file!! ) No kidding?!? That's awesome. Good for you! I'm glad you've done something of that magnitude to help expand T&T's reach. I hope the pdf is done sooner than later. Are they waiting to format it and put in art, or...what? (not meaning to threadjack)

If you want loads and loads of detail on owning, running, and keeping up a manor, the Pendragon "Book of the Manor" goes into excruciating detail on this subject. It is for the rather excellent King Arthur Pendragon game and available from Greg Stafford, the author/game designer.

Thanks for the exalt, mahrundl. I am thinking about expanding it, into options and events that could happen. But, the next thing I work on has gotta be that solo dungeon roleplay session writeup for Hogscape. But I am imaging it could be wrote up into a solo with various meetings, events, adventurers needing help, weekly upkeep costs, and managing some fees and new members. Some would be personal narrative encounters which you could do in your office or meeting hall, and others would just be number crunching die roll events about the general management of the guild.

d**n funny, and usable!
I think the lack of game mechanics for what you use all that gold for is a thing missing in T&T. While it might not be necessary, I do think the gp=xp in early D&D is a stroke of genius. It gives a push to enforce a specific style of play, and helps to answer the question posted by the OP.
In my campaign I had the players start their own businesses, like schools and inns. Without players with the spirit of an entrepreneur it would have worked less well.

Way back when I was a little nipper playing AD&D we had the "Gold=XP" rule. However if you wanted to use it that way you had to spend it on training from a character at least 1 level higher than the level you were seeking to achieve.
That worked well for the low levels and kept players from having to slog so hard to get through the first three levels.
I also played in a game were you could use gold for XP that had the rule that once expended for XP the gold was gone. Spent on ale, wenches, clothes & the like, experience through conspicuous consumption.

Are they waiting to format it and put in art, or...what? (not meaning to threadjack) Rick said he would have a PDF file done. In his latest Email, he even told me that he had Liz Danforth's approval to use her illustrations (I guess this referred to the old T&T illustrations, not any new illustrations, though). Since then, no news. He didn't answer my latest Emails. It's a shame, because the French version is arguably better than the original, in the sense that i) I had Ken answer my questions and clarify things, ii) the errors in the original version were corrected, iii) I changed somewhat the table of contents and added things from 5e/5.5e whenever I felt there was information missing. My idea would be to have illustrations from 5e + 7e + Monsters Monsters! It would be a collector's item and I guess some of you would be interested in buying it even if it's in French

Slightly off-topic: I managed to translate an Italian solo into English, despite knowing virtually no Italian (I think that I can count to 10 in the language). Babelfish / Google's translator gave the general idea of the text, and several Italian to English dictionaries enabled me to create first a literal trnslation, and then one in reasonably idiomatic English. By the time that I finished, I'd estimate that I was starting to deduce words that I hadn't previously encountered about 40% of the time. You won't learn the language properly that way, but it would probably help your comprehension of the important areas - those that relate to gaming!

Interesting website! I never even knew that it existed. I tripped over it a little while back. It's interesting. There are 66 downloadable podcasts at this point. When I started I just downloaded them via the link on the site. Now they're setup to deliver podcasts via iTunes. One suggestion - a pint of Guinness goes a long way to being able to understand the instructors. ;D

What Happens when warriors get rich?
1. The Emperor "requests" a "loan" to help with ( Fill in the Blank) The War Effort,The Royal Orphanage,The Royal Seraglio ,The Royal Patriotic Holiday Feast.
2.The King ,his court with all retainers and lackeys drop by for an extended Holiday (and all the time you thought Penelope had it tough)
3. As you were returning triumphantly from your Delve, the royal Tax Collector caught up with you...and then the Royal Tax Collector from your own country caught up with you.
4. When you left to go aViking again, your latest sweetie absconded with the swag.
5. The Famous and Rock Solid Bank that held your fortune, went under...
6. The New Duke is your ex-gardener.
7. The thousand acres of prime land you acquired has been..... over run by an Orcish Horde, turned out to be a pismire, is in fact already owned by a powerful Lordling, etc.
8. On the way home the garden variety of thievesand Brigands relieved you of wealth, weapons and all but your gauchies.
9. While passing through a distant land you were arrested by the crown, hit with trumped up charges and given EXORBITANT fines to pay,or if the villain is less squeamish ransomed.
10. Your wife got a good deal from a door-to-door magazine salesman.
Keep 'em poor and they keep on delving.

Mm, Zedofan, you're not very optimistic, are you?
Actually, my dream would be to have a mega solo for my mega rich warriors, with armies to raise, land to conquer, hordes of dragons to slay, guilds to buy or bribe, etc ;D
