I almost skipped a thread at theRPGSite, but curiosity got the better of me and I'm glad I checked it out, because someone posted a link to a rather interesting company.
www.librarybinding.com/index.php
The poster said he had his copy of Advanced Marvel Superheroes bound as a hardback and that "they were awesome" and it cost him around about 40 bucks.
Very interesting, indeed.
This has me all excited.
Now... which one (or two) to have bound?
My first thought was one of my I-don't-care-so-much-about-it-cuz-it's-just-an-extra 1991 prints. But, then again, it would be sorta cool to have 5.5 just for the extra stuff.
Plus, these are so much worse quality in terms of binding.
Looking at my one formerly used 5.5 that I grabbed as an extra 'beater' because it was only 5 bucks, I can see that they look as bad as the 1991's. If they used the same cheap binding glue as the 1991's, then the 5.5's are doomed. I have one 1991 that looks like it was actually used a little bit (as opposed to my other one or two that haven't been touched at all), and about a third of the pages are falling out. A few of them have already completely fallen out.
'Course, it would be really cool to preserve one of the older and nicer ones.
The downside of that is that I'd have to 'destroy' it to save it. It feels odd. But, the paper in the 1983 Seventh Printing is so nice, thick and tough.
Getting one of the earlier printings (one of the ones with the tan border) would just be so old-school-cool.
Perhaps I'll get two. Maybe a 1991 or a 5.5 and maybe the other either a third or fourth printing or perhaps the bad-a** seventh. I'm not sure yet...
But how cool would a black leather (or buckram) bound T&T with silver lettering on the cover be?!? ;D
